Picked up a late 2016 OG M2, 1 lady owner from new, 25,900 miles, FSH, about 2 months ago. They are still holding value quite well, even the highest mileage examples were £24,000+, I paid £28.749. After previously owning a tuned M140i (455bhp/634nm), which was an absolute missile in a straight line, this OG M2 is on another level for steering feel, balance, chassis dynamics, cornering, and damping/handling, even if it is a fair bit slower than my M140i. The M140i was a wobbly, snaking under acceleration, pogo-ing over bumps, boring looking hatchback. The OG M2 is a superb looking, superb handling, coupe. Love it.
@@gyallis4life617 Mate, the OG M2 is a raw machine, it's noisy, hard riding (but brilliant over bumps), the DCT is jerky at slow speeds, and it is shit on fuel. But I'll say this, every time I drive it, the experience feels like a special occasion.
I just brought a M2…..remapped….running at 400bhp and on coilovers….2017 plate with just over 40,000 miles….it’s took my two weeks to get used to it but I love it now. I have my bmw e60 M5 and I’m sorry to say as much as technology has moved on I just can’t get the same love/feel I get with the M2 compared to the M5. Great review and if you ever wanted to do a video on both of them and a review your more than welcome. 👍
I just got an OG M2 in the exact same spec as yours. Spot on review. Also it’s not the MPG that’s the problem, it’s the small tank! That’s why we’re always at the gas station, we just don’t hold as much fuel
A very well articulated review Bex. After watching this I get the slight impression that you really, really love the M2 and I don't blame you. Good to hear you added the comment about rear wheel drive in the snow. Although I have a 4x4 I'd still prefer to be in front of the fire than driving in the snow, no point in risking some unplanned non designed aero modifications to the cars bodywork as there are plenty of other drivers who have no idea how to drive in those conditions. Tuck the M2 in the garage where she's safe and sound. A great balanced review with both the good and the could do better aspects of the car. Well don Bex!
Best car I have ever owned my m2 competition stock exhaust the sound is naff on the comp but I am quite happy with it now I have put the scorpion axle back on. If I was buying cash I probably would have gone og and saved the cash but when I bought mine I got 2.9% apr on the pcp and with the way the market has gone I am still in positive equity after a year without putting a deposit in which is unheard of I can’t see me getting rid of it anytime soon it is such a good all rounder
My base m2 is the perfect daily driver. Intake, blue spark performance tune, and Thor DCT tune. AST 5300 suspension on the most least stiff setting for daily use. Loud enough, not too loud. I want to stop putting miles on it because I decide to keep it after all.
Great video I do however need to correct you on a couple of points. The DCT as far as I'm informed isn't better than the ZF8 that's been put in the newest M cars, also the M240i has the B58 not the N55. You're on about the M235i. Glad to see you enjoying your M2.
i dream to upgrade from my 135i one day to a m2. honestly if you don't want a different exhaust or coil overs, just get a MHD tune and drive it spiritedly. i would get some black or carbon tips. good job. looks mint!
OG definitely sounds better than the competition! I think the LCI like you have is a good choice. I think a 981 Cayman S/GTS is a better car in near enough every way, though. Have a drive in one if you haven't 🙂
I just sold my stage 2 m2 for a supercharged c63 running 705bhp I loved the m2 but the n55 just wasn’t strong enough for me. Bmw should have put the b58 in the m2 then I would of kept it. But saying that I do miss the DCT and the handling.
Same! I sold my M2 N55 OG and picked up a 2022 M440i for the time being. Once the chip shortage issue goes back to normal I’m hoping to pick up the new M2 or M3
I was shopping between M2 and M240, went M240i because of the engine and price difference. Installing LSD and KW coil-overs this month to bridge the game in the handling department a bit. I really wish the M2 camp with a B58... the new G42 is a bit too big feeling. Made me take the leap to modifying the M240. How are you liking the M440i?
@@glacier_m240i I love it actually, the interior upgrade is amazing, the B58 is so good in this car the power is immediate and the hybrid system works flawless, plus the Xdrive is great. I do like the exhaust on this I would say the only thing is I feel like the front of the car is a bit wide the back is beautiful but the front I would prefer if it was a bit more narrow but other than that I’m loving it so far.
People who say this isn't a real M car probably spin out their M4 every other weekend. There's a reason these hold their value like crazy versus an M4 that nobody wants.
@@DrivingBex it means that based on your gender I’m assuming you either (1) can’t drive stick or (2) are not a purist or (3) both. There is something about fast cars and driving that lends itself to how men are wired. It’s not an insult it’s just a masculine thing. But what do I know?
And you assume wrong. 1) I can drive manual, 2) I have owned two Lotus’s either side which are one of the purist road cars you can get, and let’s not forget the Ginetta GT5 race car with a sequential gearbox. Whilst driving can be associated as a masculine thing, there is nothing stopping us girls enjoying it (and being good at it) either.
@@casey2173 and I’m sure many men have been terrible too. Yet there are still women out there beating men in many different race series. Myself and others included.

Great purchase mate. Cant believe the amount of people online I see trying to say an m140 is close to an M2. Leagues apart
I needed this comment, currently decided on a 40i and og m2

@DjNikGnashers thank you bro this is exactly what I'm looking to experience 🙌. Also, 🤣🤣 when u say it's 💩 on gas 🤣🤣🤣, how bad is it ? 🤣🤣🤣
@RiperSnifle thank you. Straight line speed isn't what I'm looking for right now .🤛🏿
Your passion for this car definitely shows, I think the smiles it brings are far more
important than any miles per gallon!
Thankyou!! 100%!

Every time I watch one of these reviews it edges me closer and closer to pull the trigger and get an M2C. Brilliant review.
DO IT!!!
Superb video, really well done, I've owned one for 3 years and absolutely love it.
I just discovered your channel because I'm thinking about getting an M2.
Great review, keep it going, you got yoursellf a new subscriber!
thank you so much! definitely make the jump to an m2!!
I've got a 2017 M2 with a full DINAN setup (Turbo 446 hp, Coil Overs, Intercooler). Your review is dead on good. Thank you.
Thank you so much!!

Channel deserves so much more recognition, Video with your M2 and my A45 👀
Thank you so much! Need an a45 on the channel!
Getting this car in few days and I can’t wait! Thanks for a great review!
Thankyou!! Hope you love it!!
@@DrivingBex oh yeah I really do! Little too hard suspension but it’s ok. It’s a perfect combination of modern and oldschool car and I really love it!

Great review, loved my old m2 ... engine from 235 not 240 isn't it
Thankyou! Yes it is! I realised as soon as it went live🤦🏽♀️
I thought the DCT gearbox was replaced by the ‘improved’ ZF8 which they now use in the latest M cars
That is only in the very new M cars or the m240i etc.! Not this generation M2!
how does this comapre to your TTRS? i have a TTRS too and thinking i might try one of these next year
it's a different driving experience so depends on your needs! I'm hoping to do a comparison video soon
The M2 F87 is a really good car, but I’m looking forward to the G87 M2 next year at least.
It will be interesting to see!

Prefer 981 Cayman or Boxster GTS to M2. May be I'm biased.
It’s all personal preference☺️
Agree. There's no comparison.
Bmw wins on practicality though
Nice review Bex.👍
Thankyou!!
N55 is In the 35i, b58 is 40i
I sadly realised this! I’m kicked myself that I missed it in the filming/editing as I knew this too🤦🏽♀️

Of course it is a real M performance car!
👏
👏🏼
It's not the engine from the M240i... It's from the M235i
Manual box over SMG
Its amazing how a thumbnail can influence you to give up 20 mins of your time 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
15.9 mpg! Ouch 😳
That means around 40p a mile just in petrol.
You can get 30mpg on a long motorway run but it’s worth it!
I thought theses were good on petrol 🤔
I think I would go for a 1M over the standard M2.
Of course the girl gets the dct.
And that means?
