    I’m a self confessed petrol head and switched to an EV6 gt-line S this year and it is great. I can charge at home (PodPoint) and haven’t yet needed a public charger. It’s fast (quicker than my previous car - Macan S), fun, loads of tech, is cheap to charge and works for me and my driving scenario’s these days. It won’t be for everyone, but at a real-world 270-280 miles (300m advertised) range, it works.

    Can someone explain to me what happens when hydrogen cars take off which they say charge in 5 minutes,at the moment i charge my electric car at home takes about 6 hours for 50% so will my electric car be worthless?

    • @crm114.

      Hydrogen is dead. To expensive to make and dreadfully inefficient use of energy. In California, all the H2 refuelling staions are closing.

    • @Hitstirrer
      @Hitstirrer 9 дней назад

      As hydrogen cars will not 'take off' there is nothing to explain. The logistics of H2 are much too difficult. It would be at least twice the price of running a petrol car. Servicing costs would be horrendous. It might just work for trucks and bus use but even that is doubtful as battery tech improved almost daily. EVs these days are much better than the early models, and some 'town cars' are now around for £15k so that with overnight home charging and better battery tech a lot of the old fears will soon be gone.

    Dear Bex's Dad, Dude you are utterly full of crap. Your personal range limit is 180 miles per road trip segment (not the Marvel Comic 500 miles fantasy in your mind) this applies to EVERY BLOKE OVER 49 because that 180 miles is as far as any 50+ male bladder can go without a piss break!! Anyone who thinks driving 500 miles without a break is safe driving needs their licence and car keys taking away from them...which will be happening to you sooner rather than later anyway. Who do you think your kidding Pops?! regards hsm

      @jacquelinetaylor9794 9 дней назад

      I think people have misinterpreted what’s Bex’s dad means. If he chooses to he can do the 500, I think he means when he needs to stop for a wee, he can pull in and park, go to the bathroom and then continue on his journey without having to mess about filling the car up. What 10mins at most approx. With an EV he would have to find a charger that’s working, plug in and then wait more than 10mins to then continue his journey. Adding time to it. I hope this explains it to you better than her dad did

    TIP TO ALL: You don't want an APP operated home wall box. Get a ROLEC and have the installer go through a process that will make it simply plug and play with no APP or anything to do. If your installer is not aware of this simply phone ROLEC and they will walk him through the process.

      The problem is as far as I am aware it is now a legal requirement that all car chargers are "smart" so that they can be controlled by the network operators to "protect the network in emergencies" Im not saying I agree with this but it is true all the same, Just like all cars having to be fitted with speed warning and lane assistance etc. So you get a legal smart charger or an illegal dumb one.

    All types of cars depreciate the moment you drive it out of the showroom, about 20%! Don’t believe juts buy any car today and then sell it straight away. Why? Buying Price is always higher then Reselling Price, bcos you need someone to buy it off you. Once your brand new car leaves the showroom it becomes a 2nd hand car. The 2nd hand car market is the Wild West for used cars. Being in Fact a “Used Car” or “2nd Car” does not usually glow in commanding value. So all cars depreciate big time. If you don’t intend to resell your car soon after driving it off the showroom, then depreciation is not such a concern. Fact of life : everything depreciates! However, the “Useful Life” of your vehicle/asset can be extended over time if it’s properly maintained. In other words some vehicles depreciate faster because it’s been thrashed, neglected, abused etc. Well maintained vehicles do not depreciate as quickly as a neglected vehicle, but all vehicles depreciate about 20% by just leaving a showroom, in general. So long you can accept that fact, go buy a new car and enjoy it. Have fun! I also just bought a brand new Tesla and love it!

    • @vicvalliant1092
      @vicvalliant1092 8 дней назад

      Yes to start with there are a whole lot of taxes which apply to new cars like VAT, delivery, numberplates etc.etc. That is before you consider the new vs second hand arguments. In most cases (though not all) if you buy with PCP or lease deals the depreciation is included in the monthly fee which includes inflated list price. If you worry about depreciation buy second hand. Compare the lease deal monthly price not the selling price.

    Yup. A practical and sound financial decision for day-to-day life. Just a pity that some people are incapable of accepting your choices and being respectful. • @Hitstirrer
      @Hitstirrer 9 дней назад

      Thing is - an EV using public chargers will pay almost exactly the same price per mile as a petrol driver pays all time. But just for that one small portion of their annual use. A petrol car pays the same high price per mile as a public EV charger all the time. A petrol driver can't fill up at home as they sleep and for 1/10th of the price of petrol. So your criticism about not being realistic is deeply flawed.

    Tell us about “some of the myths “…. You mean things like EV fires are far more lethal than ICE cars ? Or how about depreciation ? Greatly reduced range in cold weather ? Limited servicing options due to lack of trained mechanics ?

    • @DrivingBex
      @DrivingBex 10 дней назад

      Whilst there are some truths, it isn't all as bad as it seems. Majority of cars have depreciated, trust me when I say I have only made money on the Lotus' I have owned...every other has come at a loss. This is why I opted for a lease, especially with the tax benefits of being self employed and using my car for business. The weather does affect the range, however, with the model I have chosen, even with the reduction, I still won't need to charge on the road. And lastly with the mechanics, I am very lucky with work with a fantastic garage, Eden Tyres, who have trained mechanics I trust.

    • @cuillinguy
      @cuillinguy 10 дней назад

      My previous comment when I had the Born as a press load was the cruise control did ONLY went up in 5mph. An update has changed this to 1mph which I much prefer!

      Took me 6 months to figure out the button used to set the cruise control if pressed again reduced the speed 1 mph to increase by 1mph I pull towards me. Up is +5mph down is -5MPH

      I have a 23 reg Cupra Born and if I press the SET or RES buttons the speed increases or decreases by 5 mph. If I press the + or - buttons the speed increases or decreases by 1 mph. I would be very surprised if yours was any different.

    Interested to see how you get on with the cupra born as the wife is considering one. I moved to the enyaq vrs in march and the car has been great!

      I've had a couple on press loan before (with previous videos) and it definitely does the job in comfort!

      Enyaq is a fantastic car I can't wait to drive it every time . I can't fault anything about it. I wish it had heated seats but I wasn't willing to pay for them.

    Hi Bex sounds like a no brainer to me. I am currently looking at swapping my car. Does a Labrador fit into the boot of a Born? Yours sounds well spaced which version did you go for?

      Our Lab is definitely above average size haha. But he has always travelled in the back seats. The boot is a good size, so I would image they would be okay :) I also went for the 77kwh battery V3 version as it was the best value for money on the current lease deals.
