Coming from a tuned M140i which I owned for 4 years, I bought an OG M2 late last year.
It's a bit slower in a straight line, it's noisy, the ride is crashy over bumps, the DCT is jerky at low speeds, but .... on an open twisty undulating country road, wow, it really comes alive and it all makes sense.
    I love it.

The N55 in the OG M2 is far superior to the standard n55 from the m135i plus it shares the same underpinnings in the chassis as the f series m3, make no mistake this car is great

Those rzn’s are understandable and actually makes u love it more cuz most ppl expect this m2 to feel like a C43 chasis and have no type of noise or squeaks or aggressive pothole bumps

upgrade the transmission firmware to the m2comp one, look on bimmerpostforums. It also changes the handling a bit for the better. 1st to 2nd jerkiness gets fixed with this mod (if you got the og, you need to upgrade the firmware to LCI, the you can do comp the handling/transmission. Costed me 100 bucks, back then my mechanic had no idea about it and now he charges 10x of that. Still, worth it.
Don't forget a charge pipe even if you have it stock, OEM CP are plastic sht and break. The car doesn't needs to be tuned at all, is perfect, nonetheless after 8 years of having it, mine has a downpipe/intercooler/chargepipe and stage 2 (not stage 2+) with 420/whp and 550nm of torque. Thinking about an air intake for the sound/better airflow and new exhaust for sound + 5hp haha. I doubt I'll get a bigger turbo and more tuning -maybe just an ohlins suspension system, since you can put it on street/track mode in the shop; street mode is just perfect, a buddy has it and it's night and day between the stock suspension for daily driving.
The car is a beast, got it brand new, won't sell it ever and the other day I parked along a g87 M2, the dude was clearly uncomfortable, even when I was telling him his engine is kicks ass, he confessed not liking the design at all and would prefer the f87 looks (maybe a little refreshed) with an s58, rather than the monstrosity BMW created to cater to its biggest market in the East of the world.... OG M2s are gonna be a classic, idk if their prices go way up, I'm keeping mine and when upgrading to the better german brand -there's only one, VW may own the business, but we know they are the benchmark in the industry-, this will still be on the garage.

Research the m2comp handling/transmission firmware upgrade, worth it for jerkiness on 1st to 2nd shifts, better handling feedback and better shifts on sport+. Also, get a chargepipe, N55 - no matter if they are N55b - have a plastic chargepipe that holds well 300hp, not 370hp and the amount of boost the M2 has. They are cheap, get a stainless steel one.

@@jamessonfield I think you need to know a little bit about carwork to put on the chargepipe. I don't have the space/tools to do it myself living in a metropolis, so I either take it to a racing shop or go to one of my buddies who is a bmw wizard, but lacks a few tools for bigger repairs/tunes.

I think this applies to your country only, in the rest of Europe good examples are still expensive, ~40/50K, especially manual ones, honestly I’d rather spend more to get an “exotic” with a little bit of years on the shoulders, but that’s probably my case and opinion. A shame you didn't go into what problems you had. I have had an OG 2017 pre-LCI with 85,000 miles on it for a year now and I have not enjoyed it one bit.. YET.
The water pump shat itself. Then I had to overhaul the entire cooling system including all pulleys, hoses, bolts, clamps and ancillaries. The front and rear brake and hub assemblies are rusted out and also need a complete overhaul top to bottom. Damage a driveshaft? That's 500 GBP. Granted, in Japan, I paid 12500 GBP for it drive-away, but have since spent 5000 GBP on parts - most of them I'm doing myself because Japanese workshops r@pe customers on anything Euro.
Market prices for this car in Japan - at this mileage - are about 14,000 ~ 15,000 GBP but you're going to have to change a LOT of things to get it back up to fresh - and even then, the car has STILL done 80,000 miles.
Don't think I'll ever do this again and it is the ONLY car - out of hundreds - that has ever given me this many fk'n headaches.

I'm not a fan of LBB, it is a nice colour but it's the sort of colour you an only see so often before getting tired of it. I live in an area that has many M2s and the LBB hype dies down quickly. I ordered my Comp new (with it's vast list of about 4 options) myself and have owned it almost exactly 5 years now (20th May 2019) and 99k Km. I ordered it Hockenheim silver with the M437 wheels that are now used for winter tyres and I have added a set of 763M that I had painted Bronze for the summer. (I don't like the 788M bicycle wheels)
I have thought about selling and getting an Emira or a Cayman GTS4.0 quite a few times but I can't bare the idea of selling the M2, I've got 3 cars at the moment, but the M2 is just my baby.
