I think it’s an amazing game. But it lacked direction. And like you said, being able to buy land, run farms, buy businesses would have kept me playing. I plan to go back soon to catch up on things. But it would have been nice to see this game continue to evolve, as it had the foundation for it already. Thank you for the content!
I’m playing it and I love it. Glad most glitches are fixed like the annoying stable glitch. I just wish rockstar cared about the game and gave us interesting content to try out. Doubt we’ll get anything new and who knows if rdr3 will even be a thing if they’re just going to do the same thing again to it like they did to this game. Hopefully they fix it in the future.
I started playing a few months ago to take a break from Fallout 76. I enjoy many things about it, but the main thing I don't like is the griefing and vibe of fear among players. Coming near another player can quite often get me killed. RDO could learn a lot from the Fallout community.

Nerfing daily challenges in 2020 was the beginning of the end. So many people lost the incentive to play and I would be surprised if there was a massive drop in average daily players during that time.
Nah homie. Literally their very first update, making the radar and map proximity based was the biggest issue from the start. The only thing keeping people playing was the daily challenges. Had that not been in the game, the game would have been dead just from that. The other main issue with the game was having duo economy, they couldn’t capitalize like gta does because of the fact that everyone earned so much gold from daily challenges that it wasn’t worth buying gold. If they had made everything cost a single money type and had made gold rewards what they nerfed it to from the start, would have been a lot less problems and they would have profited off the game.
I recently started playing again as stress relief. I play by myself and just go up into Big Valley and hunt and fish, while also doing daily challenges. The beautiful scenery helps me relax.
I enjoy playing alone just doing the daily challenges, go out of my way to avoid other players since I keep finding some here and there that just shoot at me on sight. and yeah, the scenery, hunting fishing is relaxing
Any other game company would kill to have RDO in their portfolio, but Rockstar just looks at GTA Online and sees a less performing game even if it still racks in millions.
The more money this gams made rockstar the bigger the chance it would have to still receive updates. It's rockstar fault to not come up with good gold/money dumps in the game

Rockstar has been handed the formula to keep RDO alive on a silver platter. If they added just one new thing it would virtually double their player base. I’ve seen the lobbies fill up with even a rumor of a new update.
The day they broke my 430 day challenge streak was the last day I played any significant amount of red dead online. Over the past 4 years since then I maybe have played 2 weeks in total

And I kept my daily challenge streak through all of that, and all the other shitty phases the game had. Then they just said "Fuck you, here are 5 pistol ammo and some canned beans as compensation - the streak resets every 28 days now" That pathetic "compensation gift" was the biggest disrespect there is.

Same it’s just the best game ever and there is lots to do until your a high level but even then I still find a reason to play it. Mostly just helping my brothers or ransoms but at this point I’m just getting everything out the catalogue in every color 😅
Think for me even wasted opportunity think just like living wild West idea using deadeye which say pretty well implemented into online like I not been able prob for that. Just duel wield revolver go into a camp with bandit clean house like wild West bad ass.that in own way fun cool make feel like a badass. Plus still play it cause find fun yes wish more content but Everytime I log in make own challenges like go on rampage in a town run away sell stuff do few missions prob go to pub drink. Sometimes do light rp if possible. Find community ironically dieing like this typically nicest cause people still love game play it
I stopped playing about a year ago after this being the only game I played for about 2 years. The posse wars were the best, like 2-4 posses battling it out. Met a bunch of great people. Only so much I could do before getting burnt out. After getting pretty decent with free aim no aim assist in pvp, I was just done and moved on. But I still love the Red Dead series, as a whole.
You pretty much nailed it with this one. RDO has got to be the biggest video game fumble of all time, considering all the potential it had and the beautiful world they've created. It was/is enjoyed by probably the most diverse array of players any game has ever had.
It’s been dead for years, and rockstar abandoning it completely in favor of GTA online is a bad sign for the future. I have my theories about how gta 6 is going to go down, I’ll leave it at that.
I love this game and play every day. I wish they would bring back the Out law pass as I missed 1 and 2. Bring back the horse mask. My lvl is at 964 (playing the Daily each day)and I spend as little time in showdowns as possible
Yeah why on earth did they remove stuff, it’s beyond common sense. Just repeat the old passes if they can’t come up with new ones. Everyone deserves the chance to get their items, and A HUSKY for their campsite
RDO got me through the tough days of the pandemic and I made gamer friends from around the country and world. I also played the heck out of it with my son when we were both new to the game and it was so much fun back then when the world was big, unknown and full of virtual adventures.
used to play RDO while it was getting updates. I kept playing until 2023 hoping Rockstar was being just super secretive. This game will always feel incomplete without train and store robberies, properties, etc.
I still play although it's getting harder to. I'm lvl 486 and grinding to 500. I don't know what I'll do after that. I'm a solo player mostly and there just isn't anything to do. Add to that how annoying it is to get griefed by some random who's either new to the game or just as bored as I am. It's very sad, I love the game and it could have been so good. 😢
yeah im over 700 as a solo player..left the game in april of 21 with over 9k hrs and 1200 days straight..even took my ps4 on vacay to keep my daily streak alive and it was at 544 plus when they started resetting streaks..i did love the game but ive almost bought ll the clothes and its kinda boring bopping around with nothing to do..pvp sucks in rdr2 so i dont do tha

I've been back into it lately, just been doing bounties and collecting tarot cards and other collectibles I randomly come across. There isn't much content but it's so nice to not have griefers, I've come by so many friendly players.
My guess is that Rockstar saw that RDO has a much more opportunities and potentials then GTA Online, and they did not want to create a competitor. It's pretty easy to grind some money and gold and buy anything you want in RDO, but with GTA, the shark card system generates a ton of money for R Star. That's what I think. But I am still optimistic regarding RDO, since R Star fixed many issues recently and doing some good changes in the game by fixing the stable glitch and wagon glitches
It's a good theory but why would it become a competitor? Rockstar owns both games meaning they get money from both and since the gold bars are kinda the same system as shark cards wouldn't it just make even more money for them? It's sad they abandoned the game cause it had a lot of potential.
I still remember the time Red Dead Online became a living creepypasta, a terribly bad attempt to update the game had caused the servers to essentially die which made all the NPCs in the game disappear. In places like Saint Denis the lights would randomly turn off at night over empty streets and carriages would be "Driving" around with no one in them, it was dead silent and I think it was stuck at night time for awhile.
I just started playing RDO about 2 weeks ago and I definitely understand the players passion behind it. This video gave me insight on how far it's come but also what it COULD have been. I'll continue to play it but also mix some GTAV solo sessions in there to fill the void.
I remember getting so excited for RDRO. My friends and I got online, we invested in the skinning thing, went hunting during a huge storm, loaded up our horses with as much of our game as we could and proudly headed back towards camp. Then we all had a connection error and disconnected. When we returned everything we had caught (including several 3 star animals) were gone. We tried again, still having fun hunting together and riding around the countryside. Another connection error. We never played again after that. It felt awful to have the same experience we had on GTAO for years in a new game. Everything was too expensive besides... couldn't run amok in local towns, couldn't hold up trains, couldn't hold up shops. There was no outlaw rp to be had, just pre-fabricated missions and mini games with low payouts. Such a bloody shame.
i still play RDO every day if i can and i'll keep playing until they turn the server off it blows my mind that rockstar has things that players want like limited time clothing and outlaw/quick draw passes they could release with the push of a button but they won't do it
I love this game. I have played the story line multiple times. The real adventure is online. The power balance between players is kept in check with rep and fear of bounties. Rockstar needs to step it up and start adding . Fans of this game are loyal , the true ones. Make RDRO great again. 😊
Stopped playing it on 2022 😢 Still is one of my favorite games of all time 106 days in gameplay since Red Dead Online came out, lot's of good memories in this game Loved the story mode, loved Arthur and the gang I remember crying the first time when Arthur dies in the game
It is wild it has been almost 3 yrs since Rockstar gave the last DLC. I know they said not to expect anything else but I am surprised they haven't announced a roadmap to shutting down the servers honestly. The numbers of players cannot be good as about 2 yrs ago they at least used to talk about player count during quartly meetings and have since stopped talking about RDO really at all as their support for the game has been absent now longer then when the did support it from when it first came out. If I were to guess when they give a official release date for GTA 6 they will announce them shutting it down as the little PR backlash they would get from the existing players would be overshadowed by good PR for GTA 6.
Insane that it’s been almost 3 years. But maybe more so than that, more time has past between blood money and now then the entirety of the actual life cycle of the actively supported game from launch until blood money. That’s a trip tbh.. Im not sure they’ll shut the servers down though. I mean there are still a bunch of players. But no chance they revisit the game and put more content besides those telegrams into it. Some people still have hope for that and it’s sad :( I love the game and still play what we got but my hope for new content is long dead. When we got that newswire in 2022 that was it, just gotta accept the game for what it is now and enjoy it. Because I think there’s still lots to enjoy. But man, sad story with this game bro..

Nothing kills the community more than lack of support from its creators. Once I saw that coming, I left the game for good. Even tho I was 100% willing to still be playing this game today. By far the most beautiful Rockstar game in existence right now and it was completely abandoned ... I'll never understand why.
It was easier to monetize gta online using less resources thus maximizing profits, they didn't want to build rdo because that would take resources and man power, where as they could just stick with gta online and the momentum it has/had. Rdo is one of the biggest cases of wasted potential I've seen in gaming
there's an error called 0x21002001, that occurs with rockstar servers, and basically it says you lost conection every 10 min or when you join a mission, and the only resolution that i found is to change your internet provider, i tried everything in the that rockstar says in their suport and it didn't work, and it's sad because i've found out that this happens with a lot of people. at this time i just gave up playing RDO.
You forget to mention what REALLY killed it, GTA 6 is what killed it. If you are reading this and you were one of those people who constantly commented on every Rockstar post about GTA 6 then YOU'RE the reason this games online died.
If you switch your network settings, internet connection MTU to 800 you are in a solo online world. I was getting tired of watching my back when doing the delivery missions and fishing. There are way more animals, and moonshine missions everywhere. You can do the delivery missions without enemy players stealing your stuff.
I don't know if anyone else realized this, but they even nerfed the collector role. What I mean by that is, when filling up your collections, you used to be able to complete a set in just one day. However they made several collectible sets spawn at random so now instead of fully completing a set of coins, arrowheads, jewelry, etc. you might get duplicates of that said item. Rewarding you a LOT less money
I just started a RDR 2 online character on PC. Off the bat it’s completely unplayable, I’m constantly getting a glitch were NPC’s, Animals, and other player don’t spawn in at all. It’s just a completely empty world.
I’m actually quite happy about the lack of people in rdro. I used to hate it because there were so many people and all I wanted to do was roleplay as a cowgirl and someone would just decide to hogtie me and kill me. I love that now I can play it and play the story in online
I mostly stopped after they nerfed the daily rewards. Then I completely quit when the Capitale came onto the scene. It was an obvious cash grab and just made me sick that they did so little with such an incredible game. I’m still a a subscriber though and appreciate your love for the game.
Honestly the only thing that turns me off from this game is the players. I just started playing Red Dead Online and nearly every time I get on I end up being constantly chased down by high level players that seem to only get enjoyment by killing others people's fun. Is there a way to join lobbies for low level players?
Personally never messed around with low level players and I’m nearly 685. Why anyone would get enjoyment out of farming low level characters is beyond me. Stopped playing in 2022, but yeah, had a few run in’s with toxic high level players that would follow you lobby to lobby by interacting with a wagon sale or bounty mission, after that only way to avoid them is to block them and put your whole account on private. Otherwise they can keep joining on you from recents. And I’m sure thats still in the game.
Even though RDRO could be MUCH better I still play it everyday ( PC on solo lobby ) Its still better than 95 percent of the new garbage games that are coming out . Its runs great on my PC, looks good and rarely have any bug problems , I have no desire to play GTA in any variant. I grew up watching westerns and worked on ranches during my summers as a teen. So im really into western theme, fashion, music etc,....Not into the hip hop and gansta culture that GTA has. Ill keep playing it till it shuts down or a better western/cowboy game comes out. Im hoping that they will work on this game in the future but Im not holding my breath. Or at least bring back the Outlaw passes that I never got to participate in.

I'm the only one in my friend's group who loves the old wild west, grew up watching the western movies and spaghetti-westerns and since little I have read comics on the wild west. in Italy there is a very famous comic called TEX, in middle school many years ago I did a presentation on the life in the wild west. when I found RDR2 I immediately loved it. sadly, all my friends don't play red dead anymore since 2022 and I still play because it's the best game ever. Started playing 2 weeks ago after my second playthrough of the story. Best game ive ever played. And i finally started online. And im Happy i started now. I have a lot of hours to go. And i hope im here at the right time.
The online story is decent but clearly unfinished, and you will have a hard time experiencing the dedicated pvp showdown modes probably, some of them were really fun. There's roles and stuff, and they are fun, but after that you better have a good imagination because there's not much content after that. I prefer playing the single player when I want my fix of red dead
I play it periodically but the big turn off for me is the modders. Getting blown up, set on fire, moved....blah blah blah. I think this is one of the most beautiful games with endless potential. I agree with you about the content. I would have loved new horses, bigger stables, more outlaw passes but Rockstar has no interest in new content. It really is a shame.
I finished my second story playthrough yesterday and am planning on booting up the online mode tonight for the first time. I played rdr2 when it first came out and to this day it is my favorite game by far. I purposely waited as long as I could for a second playthrough (I was hoping for remaster *sigh*) and knew I wanted to try the online this time around. Like you said, it ain't dead until it's dead. I've played a game called hearthstone for over a decade and every week I see a comment online about how that game is dead. Just like red dead....sure it's not as popular as it used to be and yes, there is a lot of missed opportunity, but we can still enjoy it.
Im love RDO , and i think it had very big potential, but the community was a bit toxic towards the company, so much crying about anything R* do for money R* is a company that run business, and cash is all what matter for them ... they are not charity to invest so much money in a game where the players simply don't wanna pay for . Gold and cash were so easy to grind in my opinion. Not talking about the easy glitches that were multiplying peoples cash and gold without effort The game has it's own engine and it's so hard and expensive to develop , and the income was simply less than the outcome . Above all of that .. the players just complain and cry . I blame both the players and the company. And that's very sad cuz i just love this game .

@@quemsereu2009 nms is a game where the developers ambition was ahead of the game development...This isn't unusual now given the pressure to release exerted on companies. I can't think of a single assassins creed game for instance that released as a finished product, shit, the last 2 I played didn't even release the story end until over a year later. The point is, the developers of NMS stuck with their vision and continually worked towards what they promised, and they done so without 'paid content'. No triple a companies have ever done this, and even very few indi companies have. NMS just released another update with a massive graphical overhaul a couple of weeks ago to update to their 8 year old game. Regardless of how salty you feel about involuntarily being a beta tester, Helo games are impressive.
My issue with rockstars onlime games is they csnt counter mod menus at all. Gta and red dead online are practically unplayble without being in a private session
-drops barebones online mode with basically zero content -drops microtransactions into it -players think its boring and dont play it rockstar: obviously there's nothing we can do and well just leave it as is
Red dead is the game where people just want to enjoy themselves after seeing and playing too many games with so much love…. It’s a game where those who wish for a peace and quiet while exploring the Wild West…. And the fact that there are STILL people playing it despite it being dead for a while shows just how much love this game has. I haven’t played RDO in a year and I hope to return, even if there are no updates. And before anyone asks, I’m a Console player, but my power box died and have been waiting to save enough for a new one…. A full year at this point.
Great setup in the intro, I would like to add, as an avid player of RDR 1 online mode, I was definitely taken back by the lack of gambling games, I really wanted to play liars dice agian! and a few other features, and that online was far more “hollow” then RDRO was, kind of GTAIV online vs GTAO
RDO should have been more focused on progression and role play. Like survival but not too much. You have to sleep, eat. You can buy stuff. All of those things would have made it playable for much longer.
This is why RedM became a thing. The players took things into their own hands, and while it's not DLC content it's still pretty stinkin fun to see what different servers did with their versions of red dead
2 things that would have boosted moral and stopped alot drama, would have been 1. When in defensive mode, can't be shot/assaulted/tied by another player NOR can you do those things to another player while in that mode. 2. Not have tied up the freaking horse masks with an outlaw pass with another company. I'm assuming they wouldn't even release those occasionally with monthly updated bc of legalities due to that deal with that company.

Let's not forget the hacker/cheater infestation that happened with RDO AND GTA Online that never gets addressed. For my friends and I, THAT was the main reason we stopped playing, not the content issues. We loved it for what it was, and while that other content would have been nice, it wasn't a deal breaker. We've only recently picked the game back up again because we heard about a mod to the game that lets you do private lobbies, so we no longer had to worry about some cheater blowing you up out of nowhere during a delivery mission, to the point where it's even difficult to disconnect from the session.
I preordered red dead 2. I had waited years for its release. I loved Red dead 1 so much and couldn’t wait for red dead 2. When red dead 2 launched, I spent every second I could trying to devour everything I could about it. I collected every collectible, did everything I could do in the game before I dove into the story missions.as I played the story, I was careful to pay attention to every detail and not forget anything as I played through the chapter. When I got to chapter 3, I was still devouring every morsel of it and red dead online dropped. I couldn’t wait to play the online mode as I loved red dead 1’s online and had big hopes and dreams for red dead 2’’s online. I began red dead online and discovered it had almost nothing to it, no meaningful content, no private lobbies. Nothing . It felt like a knife in the back. How could Rockstar, the company that’s had so much success with GTA online, put out a game like this? A game we had waited for years for? I have never been more frustrated and disappointed in my life with a video game. I was so distraught with it, I quit playing red dead 2’s story at chapter 3. That was in November 2018. Still haven’t gone back to it. I’ve checked online to see if they improved it but my character is still living in a tent in the woods. In the 1890’s, if you had thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars, you lived in a house , not a freakin tent. I want a ranch, personal stables, cattle to raise and sell and my own farmland to do with as I please. And private sessions so you can enjoy the atmosphere of the game. Fix online and I’ll play that and return to the story. I’ll never buy another red dead game either.
I tried it but I game to relax. I'm busy at work and I want to chill out for a few hours before my partner gets home so the last thing I want to deal with is PvP or other people in general. I love the single player game and the idea of creating my own character and wandering the map doing missions, hunting etc was super appealing but greifing was big when I tried it and barely lasted 2 days.
I have around 400-500 hours on the online, I had a good time, but it was a roller-coaster of emotions. Going from excited to disappointment to excited, to outright anger was insanity. It went from buying my friends copy's of the online to never recommending the game again was a hard pill to swallow.
I started playing in late 2023. I still play today. There are always players online and it’s still got a very active fan base. I’m so grateful as they are keeping it alive.

Unfortunately the game is dead man. Here's some advice; save up your money and buy a PC then buy rdr2 again, after that play the role play servers and you will have an amazing time and can continue your wild west adventure even better then it was before

Nerfing daily challenges in 2020 was the beginning of the end. So many people lost the incentive to play and I would be surprised if there was a massive drop in average daily players during that time.
Nah homie. Literally their very first update, making the radar and map proximity based was the biggest issue from the start. The only thing keeping people playing was the daily challenges. Had that not been in the game, the game would have been dead just from that. The other main issue with the game was having duo economy, they couldn’t capitalize like gta does because of the fact that everyone earned so much gold from daily challenges that it wasn’t worth buying gold. If they had made everything cost a single money type and had made gold rewards what they nerfed it to from the start, would have been a lot less problems and they would have profited off the game.
I recently started playing again as stress relief. I play by myself and just go up into Big Valley and hunt and fish, while also doing daily challenges. The beautiful scenery helps me relax.
I enjoy playing alone just doing the daily challenges, go out of my way to avoid other players since I keep finding some here and there that just shoot at me on sight.

Rockstar has been handed the formula to keep RDO alive on a silver platter. If they added just one new thing it would virtually double their player base. I’ve seen the lobbies fill up with even a rumor of a new update.

No, in that period of time I sometimes spent over an hour just to log on, before spending another hour doing the easiest daily challenge I had available that day while getting kicked every 2 minutes. And I kept my daily challenge streak through all of that, and all the other shitty phases the game had.
Then they just said "Fuck you, here are 5 pistol ammo and some canned beans as compensation - the streak resets every 28 days now"
That pathetic "compensation gift" was the biggest disrespect there is.

I stopped playing about a year ago after this being the only game I played for about 2 years. The posse wars were the best, like 2-4 posses battling it out. Met a bunch of great people. Only so much I could do before getting burnt out. After getting pretty decent with free aim no aim assist in pvp, I was just done and moved on. But I still love the Red Dead series, as a whole.
You pretty much nailed it with this one. RDO has got to be the biggest video game fumble of all time, considering all the potential it had and the beautiful world they've created. It was/is enjoyed by probably the most diverse array of players any game has ever had.
It’s been dead for years, and rockstar abandoning it completely in favor of GTA online is a bad sign for the future. I have my theories about how gta 6 is going to go down, I’ll leave it at that.
I love this game and play every day. I wish they would bring back the Out law pass as I missed 1 and 2. Bring back the horse mask. My lvl is at 964 (playing the Daily each day)and I spend as little time in showdowns as possible

RDO got me through the tough days of the pandemic and I made gamer friends from around the country and world. I also played the heck out of it with my son when we were both new to the game and it was so much fun back then when the world was big, unknown and full of virtual adventures.
used to play RDO while it was getting updates. I kept playing until 2023 hoping Rockstar was being just super secretive.
This game will always feel incomplete without train and store robberies, properties, etc.
I still play although it's getting harder to. I'm lvl 486 and grinding to 500. I don't know what I'll do after that. I'm a solo player mostly and there just isn't anything to do. Add to that how annoying it is to get griefed by some random who's either new to the game or just as bored as I am. It's very sad, I love the game and it could have been so good. 😢
yeah im over 700 as a solo player..left the game in april of 21 with over 9k hrs and 1200 days straight..even took my ps4 on vacay to keep my daily streak alive and it was at 544 plus when they started resetting streaks..i did love the game but ive almost bought ll the clothes and its kinda boring bopping around with nothing to do..pvp sucks in rdr2 so i dont do tha

I've been back into it lately, just been doing bounties and collecting tarot cards and other collectibles I randomly come across. There isn't much content but it's so nice to not have griefers, I've come by so many friendly players.

My guess is that Rockstar saw that RDO has a much more opportunities and potentials then GTA Online, and they did not want to create a competitor. It's pretty easy to grind some money and gold and buy anything you want in RDO, but with GTA, the shark card system generates a ton of money for R Star. That's what I think. But I am still optimistic regarding RDO, since R Star fixed many issues recently and doing some good changes in the game by fixing the stable glitch and wagon glitches

I still remember the time Red Dead Online became a living creepypasta, a terribly bad attempt to update the game had caused the servers to essentially die which made all the NPCs in the game disappear. In places like Saint Denis the lights would randomly turn off at night over empty streets and carriages would be "Driving" around with no one in them, it was dead silent and I think it was stuck at night time for awhile.
I went in valentine a few days ago and no npcs were anywhere even in the saloon and shops it was strange

I remember getting so excited for RDRO. My friends and I got online, we invested in the skinning thing, went hunting during a huge storm, loaded up our horses with as much of our game as we could and proudly headed back towards camp. Then we all had a connection error and disconnected. When we returned everything we had caught (including several 3 star animals) were gone. We tried again, still having fun hunting together and riding around the countryside. Another connection error. We never played again after that. It felt awful to have the same experience we had on GTAO for years in a new game. Everything was too expensive besides... couldn't run amok in local towns, couldn't hold up trains, couldn't hold up shops. There was no outlaw rp to be had, just pre-fabricated missions and mini games with low payouts. Such a bloody shame.
i still play RDO every day if i can and i'll keep playing until they turn the server off
it blows my mind that rockstar has things that players want like limited time clothing and outlaw/quick draw passes they could release with the push of a button but they won't do it

I love this game. I have played the story line multiple times. The real adventure is online. The power balance between players is kept in check with rep and fear of bounties. Rockstar needs to step it up and start adding . Fans of this game are loyal , the true ones. Make RDRO great again. 😊

It is wild it has been almost 3 yrs since Rockstar gave the last DLC. I know they said not to expect anything else but I am surprised they haven't announced a roadmap to shutting down the servers honestly. The numbers of players cannot be good as about 2 yrs ago they at least used to talk about player count during quartly meetings and have since stopped talking about RDO really at all as their support for the game has been absent now longer then when the did support it from when it first came out. If I were to guess when they give a official release date for GTA 6 they will announce them shutting it down as the little PR backlash they would get from the existing players would be overshadowed by good PR for GTA 6.
Insane that it’s been almost 3 years. But maybe more so than that, more time has past between blood money and now then the entirety of the actual life cycle of the actively supported game from launch until blood money. That’s a trip tbh..
Im not sure they’ll shut the servers down though. I mean there are still a bunch of players. But no chance they revisit the game and put more content besides those telegrams into it. Some people still have hope for that and it’s sad :( I love the game and still play what we got but my hope for new content is long dead. When we got that newswire in 2022 that was it, just gotta accept the game for what it is now and enjoy it. Because I think there’s still lots to enjoy. But man, sad story with this game bro..

Nothing kills the community more than lack of support from its creators. Once I saw that coming, I left the game for good. Even tho I was 100% willing to still be playing this game today. By far the most beautiful Rockstar game in existence right now and it was completely abandoned ... I'll never understand why.
It was easier to monetize gta online using less resources thus maximizing profits, they didn't want to build rdo because that would take resources and man power, where as they could just stick with gta online and the momentum it has/had.
Rdo is one of the biggest cases of wasted potential I've seen in gaming
there's an error called 0x21002001, that occurs with rockstar servers, and basically it says you lost conection every 10 min or when you join a mission, and the only resolution that i found is to change your internet provider, i tried everything in the that rockstar says in their suport and it didn't work, and it's sad because i've found out that this happens with a lot of people.
at this time i just gave up playing RDO.
They accept the gold glitch since over 1 year now. Thats how less they care about rdo. Bury y'alls hope for old passes back or anything

If you switch your network settings, internet connection MTU to 800 you are in a solo online world. I was getting tired of watching my back when doing the delivery missions and fishing. There are way more animals, and moonshine missions everywhere. You can do the delivery missions without enemy players stealing your stuff.
I don't know if anyone else realized this, but they even nerfed the collector role. What I mean by that is, when filling up your collections, you used to be able to complete a set in just one day. However they made several collectible sets spawn at random so now instead of fully completing a set of coins, arrowheads, jewelry, etc. you might get duplicates of that said item. Rewarding you a LOT less money
You know my feelings on the game. That being said, I recently started playing again with some friends. I’ve been having fun.
I just started a RDR 2 online character on PC. Off the bat it’s completely unplayable, I’m constantly getting a glitch were NPC’s, Animals, and other player don’t spawn in at all. It’s just a completely empty world.

I’m actually quite happy about the lack of people in rdro. I used to hate it because there were so many people and all I wanted to do was roleplay as a cowgirl and someone would just decide to hogtie me and kill me. I love that now I can play it and play the story in online
I mostly stopped after they nerfed the daily rewards. Then I completely quit when the Capitale came onto the scene. It was an obvious cash grab and just made me sick that they did so little with such an incredible game. I’m still a a subscriber though and appreciate your love for the game.
Honestly the only thing that turns me off from this game is the players. I just started playing Red Dead Online and nearly every time I get on I end up being constantly chased down by high level players that seem to only get enjoyment by killing others people's fun. Is there a way to join lobbies for low level players?

Personally never messed around with low level players and I’m nearly 685. Why anyone would get enjoyment out of farming low level characters is beyond me. Stopped playing in 2022, but yeah, had a few run in’s with toxic high level players that would follow you lobby to lobby by interacting with a wagon sale or bounty mission, after that only way to avoid them is to block them and put your whole account on private. Otherwise they can keep joining on you from recents. And I’m sure thats still in the game.
I’m still so amazed you can’t duel other players in the same way as the Gunslingers in “The Best of Men, and α Woman”.
Even though RDRO could be MUCH better I still play it everyday ( PC on solo lobby ) Its still better than 95 percent of the new garbage games that are coming out . Its runs great on my PC, looks good and rarely have any bug problems ,
I have no desire to play GTA in any variant. I grew up watching westerns and worked on ranches during my summers as a teen. So im really into western theme, fashion, music etc,....Not into the hip hop and gansta culture that GTA has.
Ill keep playing it till it shuts down or a better western/cowboy game comes out. Im hoping that they will work on this game in the future but Im not holding my breath. Or at least bring back the Outlaw passes that I never got to participate in.

I'm the only one in my friend's group who loves the old wild west, grew up watching the western movies and spaghetti-westerns and since little I have read comics on the wild west. in Italy there is a very famous comic called TEX, in middle school many years ago I did a presentation on the life in the wild west. when I found RDR2
I immediately loved it. sadly, all my friends don't play red dead anymore since 2022 and I still play because it's the best game ever. I also personalized my phone case with an image of rdr2.

The online story is decent but clearly unfinished, and you will have a hard time experiencing the dedicated pvp showdown modes probably, some of them were really fun. There's roles and stuff, and they are fun, but after that you better have a good imagination because there's not much content after that. I prefer playing the single player when I want my fix of red dead

I play it periodically but the big turn off for me is the modders. Getting blown up, set on fire, moved....blah blah blah. I think this is one of the most beautiful games with endless potential. I agree with you about the content. I would have loved new horses, bigger stables, more outlaw passes but Rockstar has no interest in new content. It really is a shame.

I finished my second story playthrough yesterday and am planning on booting up the online mode tonight for the first time.
I played rdr2 when it first came out and to this day it is my favorite game by far.
I purposely waited as long as I could for a second playthrough (I was hoping for remaster *sigh*) and knew I wanted to try the online this time around.
Like you said, it ain't dead until it's dead.
I've played a game called hearthstone for over a decade and every week I see a comment online about how that game is dead.
Just like red dead....sure it's not as popular as it used to be and yes, there is a lot of missed opportunity, but we can still enjoy it.

R* is a company that run business, and cash is all what matter for them ... they are not charity to invest so much money in a game where the players simply don't wanna pay for .
Gold and cash were so easy to grind in my opinion. Not talking about the easy glitches that were multiplying peoples cash and gold without effort
The game has it's own engine and it's so hard and expensive to develop , and the income was simply less than the outcome .

I can't think of a single assassins creed game for instance that released as a finished product, shit, the last 2 I played didn't even release the story end until over a year later. The point is, the developers of NMS stuck with their vision and continually worked towards what they promised, and they done so without 'paid content'. No triple a companies have ever done this, and even very few indi companies have. NMS just released another update with a massive graphical overhaul a couple of weeks ago to update to their 8 year old game. Regardless of how salty you feel about involuntarily being a beta tester, Helo games are impressive.
My issue with rockstars onlime games is they csnt counter mod menus at all. Gta and red dead online are practically unplayble without being in a private session

Red dead is the game where people just want to enjoy themselves after seeing and playing too many games with so much love…. It’s a game where those who wish for a peace and quiet while exploring the Wild West…. And the fact that there are STILL people playing it despite it being dead for a while shows just how much love this game has.
I haven’t played RDO in a year and I hope to return, even if there are no updates. And before anyone asks, I’m a Console player, but my power box died and have been waiting to save enough for a new one…. A full year at this point.

Great setup in the intro, I would like to add, as an avid player of RDR 1 online mode, I was definitely taken back by the lack of gambling games, I really wanted to play liars dice agian! and a few other features, and that online was far more “hollow” then RDRO was, kind of GTAIV online vs GTAO
RDO should have been more focused on progression and role play. Like survival but not too much. You have to sleep, eat. You can buy stuff. All of those things would have made it playable for much longer.
This is why RedM became a thing. The players took things into their own hands, and while it's not DLC content it's still pretty stinkin fun to see what different servers did with their versions of red dead
I was a day one... I was sever swapping to kill sheep in Valentine because there was NOTHING yet. Now there's still NOTHING
2 things that would have boosted moral and stopped alot drama, would have been
1. When in defensive mode, can't be shot/assaulted/tied by another player NOR can you do those things to another player while in that mode.
2. Not have tied up the freaking horse masks with an outlaw pass with another company. I'm assuming they wouldn't even release those occasionally with monthly updated bc of legalities due to that deal with that company.
Might help if they'd fix the constant disconnection problem. I tried to play RDO and the game wouldn't let me for more than 5 minutes
I don’t even get it. Why not at least do like a yearly update just to keep the series feeling more alive? They’ve already said they’re making RDR3, and in that context this decision makes absolutely zero sense
this actually breaks my heart of what could have been with this game
It's just like an old 2010s game with great story and a multi-player a few play, I call this a true classic
Let's not forget the hacker/cheater infestation that happened with RDO AND GTA Online that never gets addressed. For my friends and I, THAT was the main reason we stopped playing, not the content issues. We loved it for what it was, and while that other content would have been nice, it wasn't a deal breaker. We've only recently picked the game back up again because we heard about a mod to the game that lets you do private lobbies, so we no longer had to worry about some cheater blowing you up out of nowhere during a delivery mission, to the point where it's even difficult to disconnect from the session.
I preordered red dead 2. I had waited years for its release. I loved Red dead 1 so much and couldn’t wait for red dead 2. When red dead 2 launched, I spent every second I could trying to devour everything I could about it. I collected every collectible, did everything I could do in the game before I dove into the story missions.as I played the story, I was careful to pay attention to every detail and not forget anything as I played through the chapter. When I got to chapter 3, I was still devouring every morsel of it and red dead online dropped. I couldn’t wait to play the online mode as I loved red dead 1’s online and had big hopes and dreams for red dead 2’’s online. I began red dead online and discovered it had almost nothing to it, no meaningful content, no private lobbies. Nothing . It felt like a knife in the back. How could Rockstar, the company that’s had so much success with GTA online, put out a game like this? A game we had waited for years for? I have never been more frustrated and disappointed in my life with a video game. I was so distraught with it, I quit playing red dead 2’s story at chapter 3. That was in November 2018. Still haven’t gone back to it. I’ve checked online to see if they improved it but my character is still living in a tent in the woods. In the 1890’s, if you had thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars, you lived in a house , not a freakin tent. I want a ranch, personal stables, cattle to raise and sell and my own farmland to do with as I please. And private sessions so you can enjoy the atmosphere of the game. Fix online and I’ll play that and return to the story. I’ll never buy another red dead game either.
I tried it but I game to relax. I'm busy at work and I want to chill out for a few hours before my partner gets home so the last thing I want to deal with is PvP or other people in general. I love the single player game and the idea of creating my own character and wandering the map doing missions, hunting etc was super appealing but greifing was big when I tried it and barely lasted 2 days.
They dropped it as soon as they accepted they couldnt stick rockets onto horses and charge people for it

I got on recently and tried to grind it out again... I just couldn't man... I tried... I tried so hard😢
I have around 400-500 hours on the online, I had a good time, but it was a roller-coaster of emotions. Going from excited to disappointment to excited, to outright anger was insanity. It went from buying my friends copy's of the online to never recommending the game again was a hard pill to swallow.
I started playing in late 2023. I still play today. There are always players online and it’s still got a very active fan base. I’m so grateful as they are keeping it alive.
