You are a gem! So down to earth and practical. Hope your wife appreciates everything you do! This was a simple job but added a lot of function and gorgeousness to a closet. Thanks for sharing.
Was the offset size from using the original molding, that you used the same size for the upper part of the wainscoting? Probably doesn’t matter when done since the ledge seat hangs over?
The bottom molding is 1x6 which came off the wall and the top, sides and middle were all 1x4. But in the video I had to cut that top 1x4 down an about av inch do to error :) Can't tell anyways. Thx for watching
Looks awesome - great job! Thanks so much for showing how to cut the wood top…was struggling with that very issue today. Also like the front trim. Will use the same trim & top techniques on a basement TV storage cabinet that’s currently underway.
Great job! Very simple, easy enough. I think I could handle that, I have a space under my bay window that could use a seat with storage. Headed to big box to get my supplies !😂 🙏🏻
Good question! I did a video back in the summer where I toured million dollar homes. I saw a bench that showed the entire hinge and we loved the look. Could have easily hidden the hinge but chose to show it. Got a craftsman farmhouse theme going through this home thought it goes well :) Thanks for watching!
No did need to that plywood is pretty good with screws as long as you stay off the edge about 3/8 of and inch. You could if you wanted to just in case but it's not needed. Thx 4 watching!
It's 3/4 oak plywood. Same material I used for the bench. I made it look thicker by adding a solid oak 1x2 to the front edge bench top. I just used wood glue and 18g nails to install the 1x2. Hope this helps and thx for watching!

Its one of my favorite projects! I seat there every morning to put my shoes on and the storage is great too! Thanks for watching!
Did you consider screwing the hinges into the end of the wood so the screws would not be visible?
It can be done either way with the hinge I used. We wanted the full exposed look since it goes with our home style. Thx for watching!

Looks great! I have a similar project coming up. Thanks for the useful information.
Thanks for watching and good luck with your project!
Why you did the hinge on top instead of hidden?

@@HomeProHero so it was estetichal reason?
That makes sense. Thanks for answering!
@@alltidmagnus yes sir exactly!
Do you pre drill holes for all the screws?

How thick is the bench top? Is that oak?

Will you really sit in there? Probably not.
Mainly use it for storage but I do sit there to put my shoes on and off. It was just dead space before. Thx for watching!
