We reached Amy through your referrals and through her web-site twice, and she never replied us. Unfortunately. Do you have any other referrals for the coastal area? Thank you.
Thank you for a lovely video. Crucita is more than a beach town. Crucita is filled with kind and loving locals. We have always felt welcomed and cared for by our community. I could tell you wonderful stories of my gracious neighbors, all who laugh a bit when I try my Spanish. Even after all these years I don't listen fast enough. Living in Crucita is a blessing and a curse. The curse, You never want to go anyplace. All you want to do is walk the beach and wait for the next parade. We lived on the beach during the big earthquake. No looting, no break-ins, no worries, Only the town extending their hands to help each other up. The move you won't regret.
Yayyyyy for Holly, single woman with her animals doing her thing.
Fabulous video darlings..............I so want to move there!!! The last house is the one I want, although the building with three apartments is fab...........Holly must have a ton of backaches.....she's beautiful....wow!! I have the moolah but I am so old and my knees are shot - maybe the ocean will help!!
Let me know if you'd like more information. The last house has an elevator so you dont have to worry about your knees.
@@hollyackoury5732 Thank you Holly!!!! I am interested in the last house, but I need to see what Crucita is like - the house is just what I want!!!! Would the wonders be Interested in a few years financing??? Is it in a safe area??
these places looks AWESOME!!! Wow! You all really keep throwing all of these beautiful places to choose from! We're going to have a hard time choosing the right place to live! Love you guys! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for sharing. We were in Crucita 21 years ago for a retreat. We stayed in Cabanas that had a pool near the beach. I really enjoyed my stay there. I see how much it has changed over the years. It looks more populated and more modern now. Maybe someday we could visit again in the future.
The Ecuador Husker house is amazing! Nice work!
Congrats to you two for making the move when you did. Some of us can't get out until our retirements mature. People are very afraid of what the future holds. People are not awake right now and something big will happen soon. Hope to be your neighbor some day!
God Bless!
@@Honeycomblife What? Forced to do what?? Seriously. What are you referring to?
@@Honeycomblife I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound daft, but I honestly have no idea what you're referring to. But I'd love to know if you're willing to share your thoughts.
@@Honeycomblife Honestly, if that is a reason for you to leave the US, you will never survive as an expat. You will have to follow rules everywhere you go and if a vaccine mandate is what is your main bee in the bonnet, you will be complaining about everything in another country. Please, stay in the US.
Amy and Holly were great! Amazing homes and properties. The condos seem like "a steal" wish I was ready to move now...just a few more years :)
I just love you guys! Hopefully I can make it for a visit within the next year. Thank you for sharing your lives and so much good info and most of all a positive outlook on life 🥰
Wow! so many super deals. Thank you, Guys!
I'm going to keep this video to have the inf. available for the near future investments, Thank You JP & and Amelia
I retire in 11 months. This place is now on my list of places to visit. Thanks!
The information that you present is valuable! I can't imagine that you have not made enough money to buy those houses with your videos. Please keep the videos coming! My husband and I will be down in a few years. Lol
Hurray... you finally made it to Crucita. Would love to see rentals available and more about the town. Especially food.
Wow! Real dream properties….would love to see more vids like this! Thank you! ❤️
WOW! That storage!
Wow Amelia, what a wonderful smile you have!
Although I'm very content here in Wisconsin I would love to experience other Countries. Maybe someday a visit, but for now I'll just have to tune into JP and Amelia on RUclips!
Well done!!!
Great shirt JP, thanks for the real estate tours.
you two look so young for retirees. Thanks for sharing
You guys are awesome. Thank you!
Sooooooo tempting!
Wow! These places are beautiful! The prices are very good for what they are, no question.
I would, however, have liked to see some rental options in the same area, as you have done previously. Not everyone is in a position to buy.
Amazing and nice places!!!
What great value
Very beautiful
This was such a great video. Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Welcome to Ecuador....
Looks like a wonderful town
Oh man I would buy it ! I think I have to stick with my plan to rent in Cuenca right now. But wow! I do love the beach, but I also do not have enough saved. And I prefer the mild temps of the mountains and being in a city. But if I had a second income....for sure! Nice building (that first one)...Oh yes! I wish you still visited Cuenca and showed some of your SUPER videos there, but I love to watch whatever you do. I am vegan and would love to hear more about vegan in Ecuador. So excited to plan a visit in early Spring! Hasta Luego!
Thanks for all the info
You two do a great job. I like your videos more than other by far.
We are taking an exploratory visit to Cuenca in mid December for two weeks. We will be staying at Apartamentos Otorongo. Just paid for your eCourse. You guys rock. Thank you for making these videos.
Enjoy your trip, and thanks for getting the e-Course!

Very nice! I have 5-10 years, then I'm on my way.
House Hunters International - Ecuador Edition. Thanks for posting videos like this. I liked it a lot.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello Amelia And JP. Glad to see another excellent video from Ecuador.
Learned about another little beach town, Crucita. Obviously, if it's close to a decent population like Manta, 217,000 and Portoviejo, 280,000, there's going to be quality in homes, shopping and services.
Hope all is well in Ecuador Expat-Land. I wish to be in my home country soon.
Cheers,
Eddy from Los Angeles
Great job guys ❤ Very informative. Tks for your hard work.
Thanks for watching!
Portoviejo is very nice too. I loved that place.
Greta video and JP; i love your shirt.
hi guys, just started watching..and I love all that I see..thanks..
your videos are all excellent..must say, there isn't a video that I don't find so interesting..pls. keep it up.. congrats.. to both.
Gracias!
@@AmeliaAndJP hola, gracias a ustedes..por favor sigan haciendo estos vídeos, los cuales ustedes nos dan esa oportunidad de ver lo bello que es Ecuador..
buenas tardes..
great video....wow...thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Just applied for my passport!! I am starting to plan for my exploration visit next year.
❤❤❤ lovely!
That was a nice real estate video. I used to sell real estate in NY and you did a great job. Planning on making the move to Ecuador and you guys are nudging me along. I love Ecuador.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you guys for this video. Chao..!
thanks you guys
Great video. Wish we had 349k. Not now. Be there in January to visit.
Nice 😊
Very beautiful places! I want to be there now !
I have been to these places and it may be nice but after a while it gets boring.
I lived close close to Canoa, san clemente and Santa Marionita .
It’s personal taste. After spending a months at each place I was ready to go.
I got to know people that owned condos as a vacation spot but there places did not turn any profits.
The may had renters for up to 2 months others 2 week’s.
Most of the owners where from the US and Canada 🇨🇦.
Even if you live there fully retired I did see some put there places up for sale because it’s just to boring .
A few even bought into the Las Olas near Bahia project and where promised to there condo to be read for the season for 2015 winter season ,so far a scam .
Buyer beware. Our northern mentality is somewhat different.
I been in beautiful towns in Ecuador but it’s not for me for retirement. To visit yes but that’s it.
@@evelinholmes6401 thanks for sharing. I agree, you need to have something to do, it is not for everyone. I think people always can visit for 6 month first and see if they like it.
Wao nice place
I would like to see a beach front property. Geared towards 2 retired people. Those houses were very nice. They look like they were for large families. Thanks for video watch you all the time.
Hi guys. Great and amused video as usual. I'm living in Manta as well a couple of weeks ago because of work. If you'd like to make a video about construction materials and toolware, appliances for those expats looking for build their own place, I'd be more than honored to show you around the retail store. let me know. best of luck. you rock!
You Guys Are The Best. Love The Content. 😀🌴
Thanks so much!
I love your vids. Your a great combo. The info is always great and informative. Suggestion: you may want to begin to provide more specific info on the electrical grid infrastructure of the various places as more and more people are operating in the digital and crypto environments. 👍🏼
Hi!! How wonderful to seel those properties who are for those above my level economically. They were so cute, but I kept wondering--who is going to clean this?? How am I to get coffee from the main level to the second level?? It was all nice to see. It would be good to the other half of this town for the people less privileged economically.
👍👍 Thank You.
Thank you for sharing these oportunities. In my case, not enough money spared working to be able to get one. Anyway they are very interesting. If I could, I would...
We have other properties available. You can follow Amelia and JPs link in the description to our website. I also have a brand new house (never lived in) with a view in san jacinto (a few minutes outside of Crucita) for 120k.
I will get in touch with them for property soon great video guys
Please do!
I'm happy to help. You can reach me through JP and Amelia's link in the video description. Shoot me an email. Holly
WOW - JUST $179,OOO for the first condo building, with 3 units ? INCREDIBLE ! Here in Central Florida, you can't even buy a decent single family home for that price, used !
It does sound like a very good deal, (though you would have to compare it to other local real estate to fully evaluate) but I am not certain if the potential rental income is as high as indicated in the video, and you also have to think about whether you would be able to resell the property without taking a loss. If the building is built to US construction codes (as claimed) with higher construction costs, then it might appear to be more expensive than other buildings in the area.
If thinking about living in a small beach town in Ecuador, I would recommend renting for a year first before making that decision to buy. You can also get about 8.5% to 9.5% with certificates of deposit at JEP, without having to worry about tenants. It would also be helpful if Amelia and JP would say what percentage commission these realtors are looking for, so that you can take that into consideration.
That's why I moved from there. I use to live in the Tampa bay, Sarasota area.
@@hollyackoury5732 Just checked new home prices in our rural area. A 3/2/2 house is going for $220,000 - up 35% from 2020 !
Hi Guys, love all your videos. Makes me want to move ASAP. Since you like beach towns, have you had a chance to visit Tonsupa?
I definitely will be in touch with you guys.
Nice places you showed.
I'm surprised there is so much open space along the beachfront. I expected it to be more built up but I guess Ecuador just has not been hit yet by the developers.
Maybe it was from the area cleared by the 7.8 earthquake in 2016. Many building’s destroyed
Crucita was a fishing village. There is plenty of undeveloped beach front here, which makes it beautiful and quiet. As for the earth quake response, Bahia was the place hit hardest by it. You won't see destroyed buildings here in Crucita.
I'm considering some of these places. More rainfall than Santa Marianita and further away from Manta.
Hey jp when you vist quito look us up me and my wife would love to show you our coffee operation.
Thank you for the wonderful.vudeo. Is the jabandatory in Costa Rica?
WOW that last house! I’m in love lol wish I had the money to buy it right now. Need to talk to that realtor you mentioned and find out how that process works
Hi AJ. I'm happy to answer any of your questions.
@@hollyackoury5732 I’m assuming they don’t do mortgage loans to expats here in Ecuador correct?
@@Anthonyoutsidethebox Not really and it's not just expats. Most people pay cash for most everything, including cars and houses, plus if you can get a loan, which with proof of income and a few other things you can, but the banks and private lenders usually want over 300k loans, like to only do short term, no 20 or 30 year mortgages here and interest rates can go as high as 15%. You'd be better off borrowing in the states.
@@hollyackoury5732 thanks that’s what I’ve heard as well. Just wanted to get a second take on it. Thank you 😊
Ok - time to start playing the Irish lottery and WIN it, so I don't have to wait all the last year's for my retirement and Equador - you are making tempting video's you two 😊😊
PS: I love Amy and Holly - they seem cool 😊
Prices and quality of the homes are awesome.. Is the jab in Ecuador mandatory?❤ interesting times.
I have 179k. I would buy that condo if I lived there! crazy!!
If you go to Portoviejo, go to Jean Pierre's restaurant. Good food
What are the current Covid rules to enter and live in Ecuador? Love your videos.
Hi guys, you guys look very happy and you are enjoying yourselves, I asked once before and now I cant even remember where I posted but you mentioned that you used a mail service that you liked and I think they were from Denver, would you share that company name, I will be out of the country ( USA) from at least a year and I'm looking for a service that the one you mention a while back in a video. A big thanks in advance and Im looking forward to your next video, I think you guys are great and you have given me a new perspective on Ecuador. Seeya!!
Thanks! Check out the blog post for more on this topic: liveabroadnow.com/mail-service-in-ecuador/
If I was at that retirement life I would buy that property
5:58 - JP, I'm assuming you're trying to say the Spanish word for dragonfruit? If so, it's pitaya, which is pronounced "pih-Tie-yuh". You added an extra syllable. Great video! My wife and I are still working, but we're close enough to retirement that we can start planning and I'd LOVE to retire in Ecuador!
Actually, a pitaya is different than a pitahaya (dragonfruit): www.gob.mx/siap/articulos/pitaya-y-pitahaya-no-son-lo-mismo-pero-son-igual?idiom=es
Hi! My family and I are preparing to become expats and because of your channel we will be visiting Ecuador first of our top 3 before deciding where to settle. I am curious about malaria prevention and what you 2 use or don't use for prevention? Love the channel! We are also from Colorado and looking forward to our adventure!
no need to worry about malaria unless you are in the jungles. Risk is very low below 1,500 meters and in coastal regions.
@@scottjohnson921 thank you for the information! 👍
I would love to rent that place Im planning on making a trip on June or july
I love that last property, I want it. I really only need a house half that size. Do the sqft of balconies count toward the total sqft of the house?
Anything under roof counts as square footage (sq meters) here, so yes if the balconies are covered, they count.
Anything under roof counts as square footage (sq meters) here, so yes if the balconies are covered, they count.
@@hollyackoury5732 Thanks for the response. That really brings the size into perspective. In the US 4K sqft would be too much house for me but the space in that house now seems more practical.
Happy to help. If you are interested in seeing it, let me know.
I'm ready to move, tomorrow, with -19,000,000 dollars and only my self and skills and there.😁
Can you show something in the $60-80K range? My budget is around $70K max.
those home prices aren't high for Ecuador standards? Are they Gringo rates? just curious
No. They're not gringo rates. They're are several different types of construction here. These particular properties are all custom built to North American standards and all 3 properties are quite large. I have less expensive properties available as well. Get in touch with me if you are interested and I will send you other options. What price range and size are you looking for?
I practiced paragliding in tandem in Crucita, many years ago. Wind conditions are suitable for this adventure sport. Did you hear something about?
Omg, why can’t I retire now…. 5.5 years to go. First exploratory trip next year..
Can you make a video of places that people can visit while in Manta for a few days?
Claro! We have that on the list!
I really like this channel, but I'm somewhat confused about something and want to understand better. In this video beginning at around 4:53: "It's very dry there (in Crucita). We noticed that it's very dry, just like Manta, so it's not a ton of the humidity that we had in Olon."
However, statistically the DRIEST month in Crucita, Manta, and Olon is November, with average relative humidity of 75%, 76%, and 81%, respectively. **So even during the driest month of the year when rain is very rare in all three places, the relative humidity remains high in all three places.**
So far, the lowest average monthly relative humidity I've found for any place in Ecuador is 68%, which is still HIGH (that was in Vilcabamba or Malacatos).
Love you guys ! I've watched many of your videos. I'm 52 and retired from a government job here in USA (texas). I did live in Panama when I was Army. A community called ' Linda Vista ' (3yrs) in the 90's. I met Ecuadorians who would sell/trade leather on the weekends (Panama hats too). I plan to sell my house and move to Quenca or possibly elsewhere. I just want or need good advice on my immigration papers - what to definitely bring to Ecuador (papers) to prevent an unnecessary return to the states. That's my biggest fear. I have watched your videos on the subject - would it be possible to get a direct email address as this is public ? I really could use some more advice on my visa paperwork. (Attorney, etc) And thank you both for up to date facts/information - Amelia & JP great job !
Ok I'm in contact with 'Maite Duran's' legal services (visa). Thanks for providing this information on one of your videos - Thanks again Amelia & JP !
Other than the local instructor(s) that you have used, is there a program such as Babbel that you've used to learn conversational Spanish that you would recommend? I'm only interested in learning enough to be able to engage in polite conversation or necessary responses to questions that may be posed without the necessity of a translator. Also is Ecuadorian spoken in its own version of Spanish dialect? Thanks for your reply even if it's only mentioned in a video.
I really recommend Learn In Your Car Spanish by Raymond International. I speak Spanish fairly fluently now, but this is what I used to start and have never used any other course. You can download it from Spotify, or possibly buy the CDs on Ebay and rip them to your computer or phone and play them on your podcast player or Spotify. I have all 10 CDs on my hard drive, but don't know how I can send them to you.
@@jonathanbarker7555 yes you can sign up to Spotify for free and obtain all three levels of that course and play them on your phone. Definitely recommended.
Hello. I have read that is big problem whit the Cartels all along the coast of Santa Elena Peninsula. Is this True?
I live on the Peninsula, and I did hear a rumor that there was a lot of gang warfare going on right now, although I have no personal experiences to relate and have seen nothing. What I was told was that gunmen are being brought in from other areas for assassinations of rival gangsters, but I have no way of knowing if this is true.
Just yesterday 62 inmates were killed in riots in Ecuadorian prisons, mostly in Cuenca and Guayaquil, and in February 79 were killed as gangs struggle for supremacy inside the prisons. A state of emergency is currently in force and troops have been called out to quell the rioters.
Apparently the most recent riots were triggered by staff searches for weapons. The riots in February seem to have been triggered by the murder of a recently released gang leader called Jorge Luis Zambrano "Rasquiña", leader of the Los Choneros gang in a cafeteria in the Mall de Pacifico in Manta.
There is no reason to think that any of this activity would affect digital nomads and retirees in Ecuador.
These properties are in Manabi province
Hi Jp/ Amelia, good job, well presented properties, out of curiosity, what is the distance to the airport/ Manta?? Yes ,my master in Spanish, because I grow up south America, jaja, cheers Andres
30 mins to the airport
30 mins from Crucita to Manta airport
You can’t take a loan with a good down? Or are Expats not able to get Ecuador bank loans?
Hey there
It's good to talk about crime in there and killings in North of the country, don't look at it with pink glasses on ! I was robbed 2 times in Ecuador and in one of them they had guns
That last house you guys showed? If that was in Texas the yearly taxes on it would be $8000 USD !! What would it be in Ecuador, maybe $300 ?
Under $100
@@ecuadorhusker2449 incredible
In Ecuador it would not be even 200 haha
Property taxes on the last house are $77 per year
@@hollyackoury5732 OMG !
I love you guys so much and always enjoy your videos! May I make one recommendation though? Consider using the phrase “main” bedroom or “primary” bedroom rather than “master” bedroom?
We would like to rent a beach condo, apt, house or something like that just to get the feel. Are rentals available for say 3 months? Could you do a video on short term rentals?
Yes they are a available. You can even rent a unit in the first property in the video. (It has been sold already). Let me know if you're interested.
Do the outdoor bathrooms off privacy (like a door) or can others see you in them?
The outdoor bathrooms all had doors.
