Thanks for this well detailed review. You have been able to discovered several hidden details, excellent observer! Just a couple of contributes from our side: -Internal machining isn't straight but radiously-butted, additionally the thickness incerments with stem size/lenght. -Laser etched logo can be cleaned back to original appearance with a bit of nitro thinner.
Those bolts have a spherical shape at the base. They work like the washers on v-brake shoes. This shape allows the bolt to align with the threaded side and reduces bending loads as the bolts close the gap between the clamp sides. I'd bet that the socket also has a spherical bottom, and that the holes are slightly oversized from what you might initially expect.
Look at it this way: if the branding was "better" the prices could be higher. This is a product that's been more engineered than it has been marketed, against the grain of the bike industry.
Same stem for my MTB. Absolutely love it. Best stem I have ever owned. Only slight complaint are the T20 troqx screws which are on 0 multitools mean that if something happens when your out, your screwed
Thanks! Nice review... quick question: do you know the c-c distance on the front (handlebar) bolts?... wondering if one of the Tillquist mounts would fit...
Victor Yiu - presumably to make handling less twitchy. Frames are available with different reaches so should be able to find one that fits a 100mm stem minimum. Personally I’d say 90mm is the minimum for aesthetic reasons. I ride a 110 FWIW on most of my bikes.
I'll take your 120 and raise you 2 x 130's ! LOL! Nice review, that's a stem I always lusted after, but I had to settle for a lowly Zipp SL and a Rotor (interesting design), about 130g and 120g respectively. Torx are the nuts! I think I have every one from 1 to 50! I wonder at what stage parts like this are considered 'fatigued' and need to be replaced..? (If at all?)
+Cyclespeed Tours haha excellent. You are definitely allowed in the cult. I like the look of those Zipp stems but this Extralite seems to fit my vibe better. It doesn't seem to showing any signs of dying either which is great (and rather different to the rear hub from extralite that is currently in the sick bay...)
I use neither on mine but i regularly check the torque. Really no need for carbon paste since this stem is really machined to the 1000thstl. The handle bar just slides in with a plop.

I love these stems. Lucky enough to own two in exactly this size. You right total work of art and very user friendly. GOOD VIDEO MATE.

I have this stem.. one of the best stems on the market! Low weight and nice price
nice review
Looks great!
pretty awesome engineering...just wish the branding was better

Thanks for the detailed video, I'm getting one after watching this. What's the seatpost equivalent with this level of engineering?

+Lomas Wefing yeah it's really good. I have a 110mm and a 120mm now. Defo the best stem out there. Hear you on the T20. They should have used T25
120? Here I am riding 140mm like a fuckin' boss
Thanks! Nice review... quick question: do you know the c-c distance on the front (handlebar) bolts?... wondering if one of the Tillquist mounts would fit...
31.8mm, but be warned, the bolts are angled over, so don't go in straight from the front.
Ok, thanks. Great channel by the way!
Sorry to revive an old thread, but what's the justification for your opinion of 120mm stems?

Could you upload the live streams, I unfortunately missed both and you took down the first one while I was watching it.
SebV-Way yeah just waiting for it to process now. Will be online once done. :)
Alright, thanks.

Hey,
I ride a 100 stem and I'm a "Brummy"!
Hi, do you use carbon paste and bolts thread locker ? Or nothing ?
I use neither on mine but i regularly check the torque. Really no need for carbon paste since this stem is really machined to the 1000thstl. The handle bar just slides in with a plop.
oh thank goodness, I ride a 120mm stem so I'm covered!
is the stem bolt standard? or different size?
It isn't mentioned in the video but they look like they're M4, whereas, usually they're M5.
Poor impulse control. Ordered. 120mm
shonanmike sick.
3mm works for t20
Love this stem but I’m afraid to ruin my fork.
Why would the fork be ruined?
Great design, cringe logo.
