One of the hardest chores when owning a horse, is finding a good farrier. At 75, I've seen a lot of shoes being put on horses. I've seen okay shoeing along with some iffy jobs. After watching your video, it goes without saying you are ONE of the best I've ever seen. You can ruin a good horse by not taking care of his feet. I've seen that happen too often. I used to check my horses feet first thing in the morning. I'd clean them with a pic after feeding them then I would turn them out. A farrier like you, is worth his weight in gold. Not everybody has the skill to do the work that is required. From an old cowboy I tip my hat to you. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The man's dexterity and thorough workmanship is highly commendable. Absolutely a treat to watch. Even the horse was enjoying the pedicure evident from the way it was snorting..😂 The tools too are precisely customized for the required purpose. Huge respect for this guy
Two pieces convinced me you're a pro at this: the way you spun the horseshoe on the anvil with the hammer hooked into the bend, and the way you trimmed the nails with the claw on the hammer, after pounding them in. I didn't even notice how you were doing it at first, your movements were so smooth and natural. You've got a great talent for this!
My father was a farmer. That's why I know, that giving a horse new shoes in Germany was a job for two men. One holds the leg and the hoof smith makes the work. He does booth jobs. Congratulation for his skills.
My dad was a ferrier and blacksmith on the side of being a mechanic. Even went to ferrier school on Northern California. Watched him do this countless times growing up. This ASMR is like a blast of memories. Thanks for sharing!
What great skills! Today you show what it’s all about being a farrier😊 Your craftmanship is amazing! The trust and respect you have for eachother❤ So nice to watch, as always😊 Take five before the next horse. You deserve a nice cup of coffee! Take care and be good❤🇩🇰🇺🇸
My dad was a horseshoer for 30+ years until he couldn’t do it anymore. All the things you are saying and doing was everyday life with him. You are spot on in your statement
This is some very high quality job. I can see that the horse doesnt mind it at all, and actually seems to like it, wich means the horse thrust you, wich i often do not see. Fantastic work and enjoyed watching.
That was fantastic to watch ‐ the skill and speed of your hands! It's an incredibly demanding job. The finished product was beautiful and tailored totally to the horse's comfort and health. I have never had the opportunity to see such things so I'm looking forward to seeing some more. ❤
Holy cow! (Bad joke). I can get 4 tires mounted and balanced in the time it takes for one shoe. But… that’s a level 5 shoe. Such accuracy and attention is are detail at the same time.
This was exceptionally! My Father owned a huge auto repair in Iran. He was a Mercedes Benz Specialist. So many of the Shahs ministers and Imperial Senators were my Fathers customers! I had grown up here in the US came here as 1 year old in 1961. We moved back in 1972 and as a citizen attended TAS! Tehran American School! The real Good days of Iran. General Rashmi, a Top Military Brass asked me at my Father’s garage if I liked horse back riding? I said as a youngster my sister and I would rent horse and ride a trail through Montebello CA where we lived! Ok, he said, he told my Father he would meet us at the Imperial Stables just NE of Tehran! Yes I said Imperial Stables… this meant the Shahs Equestrian Center! Man, you talk about some beautiful and expensive horses???!!! When we arrived this is exactly what we saw, a horse having new shoes put on! This was 1973 not 2024! The soldiers that were responsible for the paddocks and stables and horse and making sure the horse were feed and given water were just soldiers in the Iranian military. What I saw then was nothing compared to what I just saw! The farrier that worked on the Shahs horses rd shoeing them had tools, maybe from France or Germany or the USA. This was a long post, but I had to bring the knowledge! What this man did here in this Video? Was complete no nonsense full Throttle true Master Craftsmanship. Never have I seen a better full on masterpiece of skilled work , since seeing my Father Tune a 1968 250 SL! Zenith Carburetors were no Joke! So, a Horse with New Shoes is why we get Automobile talk about Horsepower! Cheers❤! Thank you for your Love of the Animal! You’re a True Specialist! Mohammad Reza Pahlavi if he were alive, would have made sure you came to Iran to Re Shoe his Stable of Horses! You just might get a call from MBS of Saudi Arabia! Never know till the Phone Rings! 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯
I never knew putting on horse shoes was so very involved. Wow that was fascinating, amazing job and new respect for your profession. Thanks for that video. Very impressive. And was only one shoe. 😊
I can only imagine how good a new set of shoes feels on his feet. Spending time in the military, I remember how comfortable a night felt for switching from boots to sneakers for a couple of hours. I felt like I was walking on pillows.
Makes it look easy . Has all the tools and skills . That horse is very competitive and I’m sure grateful when it’s all over. I wish I could do that for our horses
Just read online that the highest farrier wage is in Nevada, and it’s just under $20 an hour. That’s ridiculous!! The amount of work done by this guy is amazing!! Such a skilled trade deserves WAY more money!! I build elevators for a living, and he just used just about as many tools putting a shoe on this horse as I use building an elevator!!
Not many of these guys left; unfortunately! A dying profession. I wish there were more people learning this trade. He did a fantastic job; looks very very beautiful! That horse is very patient; maybe not his first time! Edit; can someone tell me what that green granular and those soft gel-like substance were? (red, white and green)
What the happens to horses in the wild? Do they walk on enough rocks and rough ground so the nail naturally wears enough so the hoof doesn't get too big?
Yes. The exterior hoof capsule gets chipped or worn or away. The whole hoof makes contact with the surface, not only the outer edge and hardens like horn. The unshod horse/zebra/donkey walks on its soles as intended. The soles are softer than the hoof capsule and abrades away. In wild and properly conditioned barefoot horses the end result is called the mustang roll. Most domesticated horses do not get enough mileage to achieve a healthy wear which calls for trimming. Unshod hooves allow the capsule to flex when bearing weight This flexing acts as an auxiliary vascular pump. That is why some say that horses have five hearts. Shoeing origins were to prevent slipping on ice and only the front hooves were shod and after the winter season these horses were unshod and given a whole season to recover. Shod horses have sharp arrow shaped frogs while wild horses have heart shaped frogs. Shoeing is ingrained in horse culture and shoeing a horse impressive and skilled work. Opinions about shoeing are as strong as on the topics of sport and religion. For a domesticated horse kept on limited space and often stabled hoof wear is insufficient so hooves have to be trimmed and filed. After trimming and filing the exposed horny tissue is soft and sensitive, as it takes time to harden which is an argument used to prescribe horse shoes. With the bulk of the horse's weight focused on the periphery of the hoof capsule the soles do no touch the ground. The weight above is not properly distributed and eventually the unsupported coffin bone can protrude from the sole in what is called founder's disease. Due to lack of flexing the hoof shape becomes characteristically elongated, with an arrow shape frog and narrow heel bulbs. Even if such a horse then goes barefoot, years after it will be instantly obvious that it was at some time shod and for how long. Horses are over engineered, that is why they are able to put up with this for quite a long time. But it is a controversial topic, best not to criticize a farrier of owner who shoes his horses.
Great job I watch a lot of these clips and wondered why some silicone type filling should not b put in the gap and u did something similar with a leather covering and then the horse shoe ,then the polish . Brilliant job.
That is amazing work. Somewhat disturbing, but fascinating to watch. All that work for one hoof. That job is no joke. Kudos to you, Mr. Farrier. No wasted motion at all. (It's also interesting how polite and compliant the horse is the whole time.)
Hey man, that's the best horse-shoe job I've ever seen....it's like the horse gotta a complete full pedicure...good job...that horse gotta love you! ...and I'm thinking...I like yah a lot too! lol
What a great work when you love your job you get a great outcome by the horse being patient it means it's enjoying your work I salute you best of the best.harrison from kenya Africa ❤❤❤
Total neophyte to horse care here . Is this really what is involved with shoeing a horse ? How early in the domestication of horses was it determined this was necessary ? Is this a western civilization thing or does it vary from region to region ? Simply an amazing video to watch .
I don't know why I enjoy watching this horse 'tire service' so much :) May I ask what the layer of leather placed between the hoof and the horseshoe is for?

No need to go to the gym after this! 💪💪
That's how we do it in America too. One man job.
Yeah I was gonna say every shoer I’ve ever seen came alone.
Well Germans ALWAYS have a very narrow specialty
My grandfather was a blacksmith. Always do it alone. May be it is a German feature to divide simple work into pieces

Beautiful to watch high end craftsmanship even if I don't own a horse.
Okay
That is the best workmanship I have ever seen in my whole life. I am 64 years old. I seen a good many! 😊
I don't have horses, but even I can tell the horses enjoy these hoof trims lol. It's satisfying to watch pure, undiluted craft. Well done sir 👍😀
I dont know a thing about shoeing horses and was still glued to the screen the whole time. Well done, sir. The finished priduct looks beautiful.

Solid work. But the good boy horse is also impressive, stood rock solid through it all!
I thought it was funny that the horse pulled his foot on the last easy thing like he new it was supposed to be over now. 😂

Being a townie I never realised there was so much involved in shoeing a horse.
He definitely earned his pay doing that 🇬🇧.
I desperately needed to see the animal walk on that spectacular shoe...!
I can only imagine how good a new set of shoes feels on his feet. Spending time in the military, I remember how comfortable a night felt for switching from boots to sneakers for a couple of hours. I felt like I was walking on pillows.
