    These are the type of instruction videos needed. Most people including myself want to do bathroom or kitchen countertops that are fastened with back splashes. I have held off on my projects because of the backsplash. Fighting gravity with the product is an issue for me and probably most other people. Many videos show a flat panel separate from whatever cabinet it will be on top of where control isn't an issue.

    I used just the stone spray to refinish my old fireplace. The fireplace started as a dark brown grout with rust and brown stone color. Went over the entire surface with the sandstone color x 2 coats to even the color base and provide the grout color. Then once dry, I taped the grouted surface area to prevent over spray. I used 4 colors of stone textured spray, individually taping and spraying each stone, varying color to mock field stone. That was many years ago, and it still looks amazing even after a ton of fires! (FYI this is near the field stone front of house and it matches!) Amazing product that lasts!

My home is 23 years old and nothing had ever been updated until 2 years ago that we put down some waterproof flooring took out all the wall papers and painted but I have had 4 surgery in the last 2 years and and everything stopped as we can no longer afford to put any more money into the house with all the medical bills. Flippin OP pro tip right there 🤌 as an apartment maintenance tech, the number of units I would walk into with that area just bulging and crusty dusty, normally we'd smooth it out and move on unless the counter was toast but it was always so nasty thinking about what that stuff was exposed to and had growing it...

    Pro tip: Sand everything BEFORE you tape & plastic up everything. It's NEVER a good idea to have dust particles, from sanding, all over the tape, plastic, etc. This way your area is literally clean for pour PLUS when you pull off the plastic and tape....no sanding dust will get in your new epoxy. That tape around sink has to be pulled off while epoxy is wet so sanding dust is going to get in it.

    I did this to my guest bathroom not long ago. I added some gold flakes to the first light layer of epoxy. It looks fine. Not perfect and definitely needs another epoxy coat. However, I can’t stress enough how important it is to wear a GOOD mask and have some form of ventilation. My bathroom is the same as this one, small with no window. I breathed in a lot of spray paint and I can’t be too sure, but like 3 days later I developed horrible bronchitis. I had it for like 3 weeks with the absolute worst cough and hard to breathe. So be careful.

    As a painter, I appreciate the detail you go into on prep...... Most DIY videos would just say "Prep the surface" and bam, it's done. Just out of curiosity, what would be a ballpark figure for what you would charge per square foot? Really helpful video Sir !!

    Thanks, another great video;
    Been watching these with my co-workers on lunch breaks, on a tablet, sharing them with the Boss,
    People are finally starting to move again;
    Apartment turnover means your products would really make an old place look nice again, and definitely more modern.
    Can't wait to try them; I'm usually just the drywall & tuckpointing guy, but we've all decided to join together & use your products, after watching these videos.
    Between all of us knuckleheads maybe we can "get it done son" !! As the older guys always tell me.
    Couple of my cheap computer desks could use an upgrade like this as well.

    I appreciate the emphasis on prep. No such thing as over prep!
    A question for SCC: have you any experience using your products over surfaces painted with “Behr chalk paint”?
    Can I treat a chalk painted surface as undercoat and apply a clear Art Coat followed by Ultimate Top Coat?

    • @galady8632
      @galady8632 Год назад +1

      I am definitely not a pro but since you received no feedback in a year guess it's ok to share my experience. I agreed to help a friend redo her kitchen countertops. She had a very large kitchen and wanted the faux marble look with veining. She informed me she did the cleaning, sanding and priming before I arrived. We worked for several days using 5 gallons of product. It actually looked nice. We were pleased with our work. Within 2 months she called me in tears, the product seemed to be lifting or loose in many areas and along the edges. She lived in Texas, I am on the east coast so I couldn't just drive across town to hopefully troubleshoot the situation. She asked me what "I" did wrong! Finally her husband grabbed the phone and explained she actually did not properly prep the surfaces. No sanding or recommended primer plus she used the chalk paint and sealer as her base. I do not know what brand chalk paint she utilized when she initially painted the countertops but since Mike mentioned chemical reactions (or something similar), between the recommended products I presume that was the culprit. Personally I wouldn't risk mixing paint brands. They literally had to rip out their original countertops and start from scratch.

      First, we clean and degrease the laminate or Formica, then sand with 60 grit, next apply our bonding primer (XIM Bonder/Primer), and then the epoxy process.

    Amazing video! Question, how does the coated countertop hold up against shower steam? and there is amazing durability with the top coat applied. I was wondering if someone wanted the glossy look and you did a second coat of epoxy instead of the top coat would you have the same durability or would it more prone to scratching? if it is more prone to scratching is there a product that is like topcoat but with a glossy finish? Thanks!
