They definitely have that warm and friendly next door neighbor vibe about them. They also seem like real people, nothing fake about them. Every neighborhood could use its own Maples Family, or two.
Couple of tips here. First, you don't need to take off the texture before the epoxy. All you need is sanding. The epoxy, when poured correctly (around 6 Oz. per sq foot) is thick enough to cover everything. Secondly, the recommended way of making it look like marble is not to draw the design before the epoxy. The best and most natural marble effect comes when making the design with the epoxy. Basically, you use white paint or pigment mixed with the epoxy and then make a small mix with the gray by mixing a little of black into epoxy. You pour the white first and then make the veins with the "gray" epoxy mix. You then spray 91% isopropyl alcohol or over over the veins to make a more natural effect. Also, always use epoxy that is specially made for countertops which contains no VOC and no mask is needed. You also want to use a mixing cup or bucket to measure the exact amount since a little less or more part B will cause soft spots. Another thing and sorry for the big comment. I just want to help you learn. Epoxy has to be pour thick and it cannot make that "paint" sound. When it does that it means there's not enough epoxy. By the way, I am a renovation contractor specialized and certified in epoxy designs so that's how I know. Honestly, any question you have I am available.
Hi Jonathan, I have the same countertop as her. Are you POSITIVE I don’t have to remove the texture off the laminate before pouring the epoxy? I am terrified it won’t level correctly and that texture might show through 😰 Thank you in advance 🙏🏼
She explained in a video, her parents own two homes right now because they’re unsure of their living situation//which home suits them best && Tate (her brother) moved into his own home && Mia bought a house a while back for filming. So she does have a lot of rooms right now, but they just aren’t settled completely yet (: just goin with the flow
The epoxy started fuming because curing epoxy heats up (it does so in the early stages of curing). The larger the amount, the higher the temperature, and it can melt THROUGH the containers so be careful! Same goes if you want to do a deep pour of epoxy, the heat might melt whatever is around it (if you're using it for crafts, molds, or other things) so you should pour in layers! You don't need to wait the full cure time to pour a second layer, but at least let it sit for a while (for a 24h curing epoxy, I usually let it sit for 5 to 10 hours) Also, epoxy is a delicate medium to work with so I advise you to be very careful, and really be thorough when it comes to PPE! You should always wear a respirator even with "non-toxic" brands. Often they are non-toxic when CURED but not so much during mixing and pouring. So just to be safe, wearing a respirator is worth it! The "surgical masks" do not protect you for anything, they're barely efficient for dust as well by the way so do use proper respirators when sanding, it's no fun to have whatever you sand in your lungs (and long term exposure to that with poor to no PPE use leads to lung diseases, it happened to a family member...) Always wear respirators and preferably long sleeves when sanding epoxy! Epoxy in the organism is really not good....

Few tips from someone who works with resin. 💜 Firstly, I don't think there are any resin brands that are safe to use without a respirator. Even those who say non toxic. There is no such thing as non toxic resin. So always wear a respirator and gloves! There are very few brands that are food safe. Never put any food on anything made from resin or any resin item in your mouth. Like the resin spoons & shot glasses (they should be avoided!) Cake stands would be okay if there was something under the cake like baking paper. You should avoid resin ash trays because heating the resin is a bad idea as it can release toxic fumes. As Mia said, do not leave mixed resin in large quantities. Resin has a work time & if the resin is very thick, like in a bucket or jug, it can heat very fast & catch fire. Try to only mix the amount you will need. Also, make sure the resin is suitable for the task. There is resin for shallow pours & resin for thicker pours. Mia said something about the torch starting the curing process but that's not true. It is a chemical process that happens when the resin is mixed together. Lastly, it's better to measure/weigh (depending on brand) in the same container. Resin can be very finicky about measurements. When you pour from one container to another, you will never get every single bit of resin out of the container. So it could throw off the measurements meaning the resin might not cure properly or at all. Sorry for the essay but I spent a lot of time researching resin before I started working with it. I wouldn't want something bad to happen to someone because of it.

I am so glad you posted this! I’m about to redo my countertops and was going to buy an expensive “kit” for it and now seeing how amazing these turned out I’m going to just get the materials myself and save so much $$$$$!!!!
Ok so being completely honest here.... I am literally SHOOK from the outcome of your epoxy countertops!!!! Girllll.... At the beginning of the marble painting portion of the video, im like "No! Just a note for the next time working with epoxy: I would always recommend wearing proper maks That Filter vocs. Even tough it is Low in vocs you Can have serious Allergic reactions to the fumes or develop an allergy. Liquid polymers are always to be handled very carefully.☺️ And yes the Masks you are wearing are Not hurting But they are also not doing anything...like literally nothing 😅 Sorry for typos- english is Not my First Language
Agree, came here to comment the same! Look for a mask with organic vapor filters! Epoxy is seriously toxic especially for pets. Your English is great by the way!
I love watching your videos. I’m so obsessed with this healthy and beautiful relationship your family has. You always project your family love to your viewers. It’s so amazing to see and be a part of because it’s so rare.
As an ex nail tech I’m watching you do the marbling and I’m excited! I know once the resin is on top making it gloss it’s going to look amazing! I’m super interested to see how it wears over time so please do update us in few weeks x
Please get a really good respirator mask! Will keep out so much more when sanding and keep you safer! I’m no expert so I’m not sure exactly which kind for sanding, but there are really high grade filters for these types of projects
The amount of dangerous projects they do using chemicals and dusts and things indoors too, just blows my mind. Some times you are forced to do it inside but other times they're doing things like a piece of furniture indoors and like you said, without a proper mask.
Yes! Just left a comment about PPE because it's so important!! I use resin and sand stuff regularly but too much PPE is always better than insufficient or ineffective ones... I lost an uncle to lung cancer because he was inhaling sanding dust as an artist, and it's just not worth taking any risk... Respirators and proper full PPE is the way to go!
Dang you made it look easy! When I did it a few months ago I painted white and drizzled grey, rolled it with a paint roller, added more drizzled and blended and added movement. This looks sooo much easier 🤍🖤

Great tip, but they used resin that's safe to use inside and the instructions apparently said that they didn't need to wear a mask. (However it's a good thing to point out that surgical masks don't protect against gases/fumes. *A second warning!* Please don't put any food on the counters because even after it's cured, epoxy is very toxic if it comes in contact with your water and food.

I have never been annoyed with the plastic bags myself, but it's probably helpful to others.
I also use it for the paint roll as I wrote in my comment. It saves both paint and time so I don't have to wash it every time.
you know you've transitioned into an adult when kitchen's excite you and you consider them equal to obsession 💀😝
Or new doors. I got a new back and front doors on my house. It made me super excited

We're redoing my room at the moment and these videos of you redoing things in your house, whether it's full rooms or parts of rooms, are really motivating. Also we're painting two walls of my room green right now. Never thought I'd choose green as a wall color. But so far I'm liking it.
Back to your video ... I'm loving it ! Your videos are so much fun and the results are so beautiful!
i am not usually into watching other people do house renovations or anything but something is different about mia’s that make it so much more interesting and engaging. also this is actually quite satisfying to like see the process
"Taking out the sinky" 😭😭😭😭 your Dad is so precious 😖
Absolutly love when you make videos about home renovations or remaking furniture!! So fun and cool!
My gosh Mia. You deserve every gosh dang follower you have. I’m so impressed with your ability to present any daunting project to your audience in the most digestible, but realistic way possible. Thank you for the endless motivation. All the love sent to you and your family from the states. ❤️❤️
Mia!!!! Thank you so much for being so straightforward and transparent about the safety precautions surrounding resin! It can be really dangerous and not enough diy-ers online seem to care or know!
Great job! I painted mine similarly to cover faux butcher block - I am so happy. Your veining is fabulous! Great instructions. Glad y'all had fun.
ok this looks so good?!? wtf??? Also, LOVE that Mama Maples is like, “yeah Mia, go ahead and try a diy on my countertops!” Like my mom would NEVER😂❤️
I am so glad you posted this! I’m about to redo my countertops and was going to buy an expensive “kit” for it and now seeing how amazing these turned out I’m going to just get the materials myself and save so much $$$$$!!!!
Have been watching her for years and only realized now every video start with "very exciting video today" 😁
Ok so being completely honest here.... I am literally SHOOK from the outcome of your epoxy countertops!!!! Girllll.... At the beginning of the marble painting portion of the video, im like "No! Just no! That does not look right at all!!!" But i am soooo glad i stuck around and watched to the end cuz u and Mama Maples NALED IT!!! It is so beautiful!!!! 😍😍😍Excellent work Mia. I am so sorry for doubting for a little bit there. Lolol!!! 😂😂
Just a note for the next time working with epoxy:
I would always recommend wearing proper maks That Filter vocs. Even tough it is Low in vocs you Can have serious Allergic reactions to the fumes or develop an allergy. Liquid polymers are always to be handled very carefully.☺️
And yes the Masks you are wearing are Not hurting But they are also not doing anything...like literally nothing 😅
Sorry for typos- english is Not my First Language
Agree, came here to comment the same! Look for a mask with organic vapor filters! Epoxy is seriously toxic especially for pets. Your English is great by the way!
@@puffpenguin
Thanks That means a lot ☺️
I love watching your videos. I’m so obsessed with this healthy and beautiful relationship your family has. You always project your family love to your viewers. It’s so amazing to see and be a part of because it’s so rare.
Ya girl the counters look great!! ❤️
Omg I didn’t know u watched mias vids! I’m in love with ur channel as much as I’m in love with this one😁
@@ethanmuriithi9734 heh I've been watching Mia's channel for ages! Love her videos and thank YOU so much for watching mine too 🤣❤️
Aw thank you !! :)

I’m no expert so I’m not sure exactly which kind for sanding, but there are really high grade filters for these types of projects
even with epoxy it's recommended as it emits fumes when it starts curing. made me nervous!
Mia, you are officially the most wholesome and my absolute favourite RUclips creator! Thank you for creating content that I can share with my daughter (age 11) and know it is creative, fun and wholesome!
I always seen where they put another coat of clear epoxy on. Love them. Great Job Ladies
Okay Mia , now you have to do the video,
“Being my moms maid for 24 hours”
😂😂😂😂
That would be amazing 😂
That would be so funny
you're really an inspiration to me. i live how independent you are. and always do these crazy things by yourself. i can't wait to move out and be like you beacuse my parents would never let me do this kind of stuff by myself
Mama Mia!!! Yes!!! I love watching them work together. More like laugh together.
Yay! Ma favorite RUclipsr posted!! Mia is just like a friends to us 💕 thank you for the endless positivity! Love this video as always ☀️☀️ much love to all!
Mia giving us a Bob Ross tutorial half way through gives me life 💕
So kind and respectful.
Thank you for a refreshing video.
Very good job
The way Momma Maples said "yeah!" After Mia said "I'm usually blowing this type of thing" killed me 🤣
I’m obsessed with your videos now, idk how I’d not found you before now! You make such fun and easy to watch content, I’m just binging snd living vicariously through you for these remodels and hauls 🎉❤
Seeing mia's face brightened up my day for some reason
It legit looks real marbels...and that counder/the island in the middle looks soooooooooo goood ... Mia it's amazing .... Love you nn mama maples😍
Opoxy is porus and will hold stains so I'd recommend a clear uv resistant top coat to preserve and protect, not many videos say that. Love the turn out and hope cabinets are next!!
Enjoyed every single moment. Great job ladies.
i love that you post on my days off lol it makes me love them even more ✨
You both did an amazing job! Love your mum, she is so fun! These counters look real!!
You girls are seriously the cutest mom/daughter duo on RUclips
I've been wanting to do an epoxy countertop for ages, but I've been too nervous. Now I'm excited and I have so many ideas! Thank you so much Mia and Mama Maples!
yes!! I was waiting for another transformation❤️ love youuu MIA!🍁
I love how you and your mother work well together. I know you are a loving daughter and God Bless the noth of you.

I’ve just come across your channel. (Hoping to do this myself ..or atleast try my best haha) And I wanted to say how wonderful it is to witness such a positive space. From your personality (which comes across lovely, genuine and warm) to the kindness I see in the comments from your subscribers. It’s so refreshing! I haven’t even finished the video yet haha but I’m happy to be here.

I love how bright the white makes the kitchen look, great job 👏🏼. What makes this so special it’s mother and daughter time 🙏
Omgggg when they popped up in the matching workman outfits with their names on the pocket😭 i can't. They are too cute💙
I'm always leaving Mia's videos for my days off and I make myself a coffee and relax first thing in the morning. RUclips is saturated with so many 'RUclipsrs' now but Mia is the only one I subscribed to because after all these years it's still a pleasure to watch her videos. Especially with Mama Maples (and random dad appearances) - this family is so wholesome and I hope one day I can have a relationship like this with my children. Thank you for putting up great content for us, Mia & family ^_^
I'm loving this new style of video editing with the aesthetic pastels and typewriter sound
The whole time I was like NOOOO and then the result shocked me. It looks pretty good!!! And I think mama maples will always love it because you did it with her. Having things in your home with meaning is very important 🥰
I don't know why but it's like therapy to watch Mia's transformation videos, I keep on watching them again and again 😅😅❤️❤️❤️
therapeutic? I agree!
looks gorgeous! I was thinking a little bit of silver or metallic grey in there might have added a more quartz-y look but as it is? Lovely!
"It should be a crime how good you look"🥺❤love you mia🙈just loved your video
I love the mom & daughter relationship you both have and I love your videos.
Brooooo I just binge watched a whole bunch of your old videos!!!! Side part! Braces! Baby lips! Prom video!!! Vacations! Diys!! All of it like omg 😂 you’re soo grown now.
I love your reno videos! My 5 year old watched with me and when you showed the before and after he said, "I love it!"
I love to watch Mia’s DIY’s even though I know for a fact I could never do them myself😂
Can we get an entire video on mama maples!? I wanna know why you call her Ming and what she did/does for a living! I love her
I was actually surprised you didn’t do this in the bathroom Renovations. Looks great!!
Great job ladies. I want to do my counter tops next summer. Thank you. God bless.
I was waiting for her to post cuz her posts are always so interesting IN A GOOD WAY!!!! I ditched all the other videos that was posted for this lol
Wow! This turned out AMAZING! The gloss really looks SO good. I'm about to try this on my dining room table... so I'm really glad I saw your video.
*Hey just a warning! For Epoxy you want to use a RESPIRATOR MASK, not “just” a surgical mask* 🙏🏻☺️
Technically, there are food safe epoxies out there. But it is a good thing to be aware of even if it’s food safe.
Indeed, but like they mentioned their epoxy was inside safe.
@@mickb.8925 wait so if it was not food safe epoxy when they cook it can be toxic to their food? Lol😲
@@jesseniapoblete Yes! And even 'food safe' can be toxic if some of it comes off when you are cutting vegetables on the counter or something.
I'm Soo happy I came across this video 📹 !!! You just can't imagine, I have '70's orange countertops 🥴😵 and THIS, I AM IN LOVE WITH!!! This Ol gal is going to show hubby & we will be doing this!! Great Job girls!!👏❤👏
THIS TURNED OUT SO GOOD!!!
Mia you motivate TF outta me!! I bought an RV last year and you inspired me to start renovating. I'm getting my STIMMY soon so I'm gonna start renovating next month I'm so excited thank you for the surge of renovating bc without you I would be depressed in a messy room eating endlessly bc of my breakup💜
Just for mia and her mums safety more than anything else , i dont think the surgical masks offer much protection from sanding dust etc :// try a proper dust mask thats sealed to the face, love you both just looking out for you 😇
Yeah I was thinking this too.. I work at a hardware store and those dustmasks were sold out for a while because of Corona, so maybe they have the same issue atm..
@@AnneMaaikie yeah definitely !! I suppose a mask is better than none definitely
Epoxy is extremely toxic and you need proper fitted mask with the fume filters AND a ton of ventilation... especially when working with large quantities like this
You girls did SUCH A GOOD JOB!!! they turned out so well I'm so impressed with the island.. yeah; the island looks like a real rock! Good job Maple gals!!!!
What I love about this channel is one week we’re trying crazy clothes from tik tok next we’re renovating rooms in mia’s homes
Variety is the spice of life. 😀
You all did an amazing job! Thank you for this upload. I’m making a Home Reno/DIY project album to help me in a few months when I move. About to binge watch all your home DIY videos. Thanks to you guys 💛
Mia truly is a ray of light in everyone’s lives 🌟
I have done a few resin cups and at first their technique of painting was making me so anxious! I love using different layers of colored epoxy with mica or alcohol ink and a heat gun. But it honestly looks so good!
Mia: It looks bad
Not even 10 seconds later.....
Mia: It looks so good!!
So amazing to see the finished countertops....well done
Yayyyyy Mia is back with another video 💓💓💓💓💓
Damn!!! It looks great!!! I love your mom and daughter relationship 💗
She’s so great, these look awesome! Mia and her family are so wholesome.
You and your mom! What a fun relationship!! Mama..."I would laugh so hard if something caught on fire (paraphrased, yet! the essence!!!)
