I have mentioned a number of times how much I love that dark blue that is standing behind your work tables. That is exactly what I want. I just don’t know how to do the measuring to find out how many square feet I need. It looks like the shape of an L but the bottom corner where it meets together is cut off sort of. Can you give me an idea on how to measure with that wedge cut out of it? My sink is at an angle and the countertop follows the direction of the sink in the back. I hope that makes sense to you. Thanks for your help, I love watching your videos. I wish I didn’t known about you guys 20 years ago, I could’ve had a good business! Thanks Mitch God bless. P.S. I am curious to see what it would look like if you actually did the kitchen cabinet doors or the cabinet boxes before hanging them. Have you ever done anything like that? Thanks guys.

  • @DesignerVIsuals
    @DesignerVIsuals 2 года назад

Very interesting.. I just did this same technique on my walls.
I recommend getting the 4 inch sea sponge rollers instead.. the 9 inch absorb way too much paint, and get heavy, and waste paint.
I start with darkest color 1st.
If you go really light final coat with the lightest color at the end, and just add some here and there, it's like a ghosting effect.
I wouldve done the alcohol with metallic right after the final coat of paint.
Also, put some spray paint on your gloved fingertips and flick onto the surface (like gold, or silver).
Then, if you take a small popsicle stick and make little "cuts" here and there, it makes it look really awesome.
I like what you said about affordability. This eliminates all the epoxy from the color coat phase. Hmmm good call.

Would it be a good idea to sand and add another coat, or just leave the single? Any benefits, or just added cost and labor??

You should have listed the shades of gray you used. Really like the technique used. Paint is a lot cheaper than epoxy so redoing the color scheme until it's exactly what you want is easier and cheaper.

Good idea, I'll get color names in the description and I'll add them to this comment when I'm back in the shop. I'm off site doing a floor in a master closet!

"50 Shades of Grey" isn't a real thing in the paint world, genius. And you have to be a moron to buy 4 full cans of 4 "shades of gray" regardless of how "cheap" paint is (like anybody would put down CLEAR EPOXY and then decide to "redo" the "whole thing" that is smart enough to know you're NEVER going to "redo" jack shit AFTER applying the epoxy which is PERMANENT unless you like a hammer and chisel "texture" in your "original countertop") when EVERY "shade of gray" is a MIXTURE OF BLACK AND WHITE AND YOU'RE ALREADY BUYING WHITE FOR THE "BASE COAT" AND ONLY NEED TWO "COLORS" - NEITHER OF WHICH IS GRAY - FOR YOUR "SHADES OF GRAY" SO-CALLED "PAINT SCHEME".
AND BY THE WAY GOOD LUCK "REDOING" IT UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT "CHEAP" WHEN EVERY FAILED ATTEMPT WILL REQUIRE YOU TO COVER ALL THOSE "SHADES OF GRAY" WITH MORE "BASE COATS" OF WHITE BEFORE "STARTING OVER".
THIS "SYSTEM" IS SUCH A COMPLETE JOKE COMPARED TO BUYING REAL STONE COUNTERTOPS OR HAVING AN EXISTING COUNTERTOP "OVERLAID" WITH A STONE "VENEER" - BOTH OF WHICH ARE BOTH "2 DAY JOBS" FOR ANY REAL COUNTERTOP PROS. ONE "DAY" FOR MEASURING AND PREP AND ONE "DAY" FOR INSTALLATION.
THE ABAOLUTE BARE MINIMUM THIS JOKE "SYSTEM" TAKES BETWEEN "COATS" IS "24 HOURS" AND THAT'S IN AN "IDEAL SITUATION". YOU'LL FUCK AROUND FOR A "WEEK" DOING IT "RIGHT" AND MAKING SURE EACH COAT IS FULLY "CURED" BEFORE APPLYING THE NEXT AND THAT'S IF YOU GET THE "COLOR SCHEME" RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.
AND "CLEANUP"? THERE IS NO "CLEANING UP" 2-PART EPOXY ONCE IT "ACTIVATES" AND BEGINS CURING WITHOUT THE TYPE OF "CLEANING" AND "CLEANER" YOU ABSOLUTELY DON'T WANT TO BE DOING IN OR USING IN YOUR "NEW KITCHEN" UNLESS YOU WANT TO "REDO" EVERY SURFACE AND SUBSTANCE YOU "CLEAN".

I love your work and love the videos but I was curious, if you create this kind of working countertop, how do you clean it, what sort of cleaner? I use alcohol, water, and a few drops of dish soap as my go-to cleaning solution? Is that alright? Can you cut on it?

Can I put this over laminate old bathroom counter top? Do I need to sand it 1st? Or just roll it on like the video? Wondering about prep?

My wife has painted a vanity countertop and sink and we like what she's done, so can we just apply a coat of the heat resistant epoxy over it or the Art be even better because it's right next to a window?

Can you use this on a cutting board. Or cutting on countertops will they hold up?. Thinking about trying in some rental properties.
