Did you not see the officers bloody face or read the medical report that listed the officers injuries as a concussion and broken nose? Nothing about that seems "suspect" to me. The ignorant child obviously got angry that the cop took kicked his phone and he responded by physically assaulting the cop. Apparently his parents failed to teach him that attacking an armed police officer wouldn't end well for him lol. It doesn't matter if the cop pulled him over because he felt "slighted", as long as the stop was lawful (which it was). Whether it's a missing tail light, faliure to use your blinker 100ft from a turn, or rolling through a stop sign without stopping for the obligatory 3 seconds, it's a LAWFUL stop! The arrogant and horribly ignorant punk refused several lawful orders. The cops actions were within the law, the child's were NOT! That's the law, don't like it, write your legislators. Despite the kid repeating "I know my rights" multiple times, apparently he didn't lol. It sounded like he's watched one to many sovereign citizen videos... his parents failed him by not teaching their child how to conduct himself appropriately during a traffic stop. Did you watch the video? If anything, the kid was antagonizing the cop. Now that, in of itself, is not grounds for a death penalty but in this age where where any dipsh*t can have a gun, cops have a legitimate fear of things going off the rails at a traffic stop.
None of this had to happen. The kid should have turned over his info. He likely would have been let off with a warning. It was, clearly, the kid who escalated things.
That said, the family sued the cop and they all settled. Best outcome, given the circumstances.

Joe Ross so your reasoning is he had a right to hit back because he got tased for being uncooperative, not putting his hands behind his back, and resisting arrest? He refused to show his license, which is absolutely your constitutional right, but in that case the cop MUST take you to jail. It is literally the procedure. Attacking a police officer gives the officer the complete right to shoot you. Especially if he's by himself. We don't take BS in the country, nor should we. For all the officer knew that teenager had a weapon. He did everything by the book.
Don't blame the cops blame the parents for raising a child dumb enough to attack an armed police officer. Good parenting goes a long way.

@@joefrog1996 So if a kid started swinging at me I have the right to use deadly force? GTFOH! Many cops are scared and quick to pull the trigger.
I spent a good amount of time in Afghanistan, I've witnessed kids strapped with explosives, and kids shoot PKM Machine guns and AK-47 at us. I volunteered to join the Marines and understood everytime I left the Wire, the chances of me being killed were high, that's the nature of the job. But, that didn't mean I was going to Shoot and kill every Kid who threw huge rocks at us, or didn't follow our directions, while on Patrols... common sense...
I'm also a Correctional Officer and have been assaulted and have seen fellow Officer get assualted by Convicted Criminals. I also understand everytime that gate closes behind me, my life is in danger and the chances of me getting assaulted or stabbed are high, thats the nature of the Job. But that doesn't mean we're going to Use deadly force option everytime an inmate tries to fight us..
Deadly force options are there for anyone who believes himself or herself to be in imminent danger of death or serious bodily harm. If that Cop really believes he was in imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury by a scrawny little kid, he needs to turn his badge in and resign. We volunteer for this stuff and understand the threat risk is high, if you're to scared and want to shoot at anyone who scares you, you might want to re-evaluate your choice of job career...

@@robgp69 So your to tell me that you wouldn't shoot a teenager coming at you with a knife or a gun? When your only form of self defense is using your hands or a gun? This kid was a serious threat to that the police officer. He took quite a beating before shooting. The judge even determined that this officers life was in danger. It doesn't matter if your a cop on a traffic stop, CO in a jail, or soldier in the middle east. If it's a choice between your life and the attackers then you will take that other persons life every time if you can.
Also I don't care how big and tough you are. Alot of police officers aren't the strongest people in the world. There just aren't enough tough guys who are willing to be a police officer. What about women too? Should women not be allowed to serve this country as a police officer?
We have laws in this country for a reason. Cops are allowed to use lethal force in certain situations. This is one of them.
Also only stupid people die this way. This kid had zero justification for attacking the officer. Blame the parents, because the officer did his job in full compliance of the law.

Of course should you choose to defend yourself, you obviously face the risk of being injured and or killed while doing so and you better hope to God you have all the evidence in the world to back up the claim of false arrest and unwarranted physical harm. I disagree. For starters that was an unlawful aprehension. While it may be a crime to flash your high beams at someone,it is also a universal signal to fellow motorists who may be unaware of it,that theyre driving around with their high beams on(which I have to assume is also a crime,as it impairs the vision of those travelling in the opposite direction). If your someone flashes their high beams at you when yours are not engaged then its generally interpreted as a universal signal of courtesy to indicate their is a speed trap ahead. It is probably for this reason that its even criminal to begin with-because it potentially interferes with the state sponsored racketeering and extortion scam. & it likewise presents the collection agents(cops)of this legal racket with an opportunity to increase their extortion attempts. If they drive around with their brights on long enough eventually someone will flash them and if he can ticket everyone who does, its an awfully effective way to increase revenue...or make a qouta. Either way,its a right denying unlawful statute and is perfect justification for resisting,to the point of death of an officer, any officer engaged in carrying out an unlawful act-which is ALSO a law on the books. Im sure that wasnt on this kids mind and any officer who felt like this skinny kid was a threat to his life is also not law enforcement material.
