As an old retired IT professional, I go back to paper tape storage, your advice is spot on. One piece of advice that I have is to get a used notebook, install Linux Mint, or Debian 12, and only put it online when you do financial transactions. You can keep it updated, but the less exposure you have for financial transactions, the better. Thanks again for great video.

Actually to get these issues reduced to ZERO, just don't do ANY ONLINE BANKING and when paying for things online, use secured channels.

I am a retired IT pro, and Electrical Engineer. I go back to the 80s on computer experience.
What I do came from my own gut instincts, and they are very similar to those in this video.
I did ditch windows entirely two years ago. I got fed up with all the BS there including the nagging for updates to the next version (11). I knew how to fix it all, but that is always temporary.
I moved to Linux Mint for others, and also used it for myself. It has been a great move and my growing hate for computers subsided because of the move. It turned out to be just a hate for MS and Windows. I have no desire to move back.
