Maturity is realising boring is good

I did a fresh install on one laptop and an upgrade from 21.3 on another. Both worked flawlessly. I love the minimalist esthetic. I’m using apps as system installs, flatpaks, and appimages. They all work great. Boring is good, I’m working and getting things done.

I ran the Linuxmint upgrade app and followed the on screen prompts and upgraded with no issues.
The whole process took about 10-15 minutes.
Very easy for a new user like me to upgrade.

I just upgraded my laptop via the included app. Went smoothly, works as well as the previous version did. I'm not going to upgrade my desktop for a bit though, to see if there are any major issues that crop up with version 22.

Thank you for recommending a pragmatic time frame for contemplating the upgrade, I can wait until late August. That is very practical advice! I want to put the latest version of Mint on my tower, I am trying to cut my Windows dependency. I have Mint on a micro, and it runs just fine. I have come to love Mint, I had Jammy on my micro and it crashed, I replaced it with Mint (because I really thought Mint looked like a more applicable OS for me) and I have loved it! I will wait a few more weeks before changing over my main system, but after that, GOODBYE WINDOWS! AND GOOD RIDDANCE!

I used the last 2/3 months the LMDE6 which I liked very much. Yesterday I did a complete reinstall of the Linux Mint 22 Wilma and boy, I like it even more....

What exactly do you like better about LM than LMDE?

I ran Mint for years and always loved seeing a new shiny thing on each release. Mint is so boring now that I just run Debian. Only difference between Debian and Mint is that Mint is themed for you out of the box and you get updated Cinnamon packages. But the desktop hasn't changed in a good long while now so that doesn't even matter.

CUPS Browsed is broken... Kept breaking the print queue on two separate machines with two separate printers... Removing CUPS Browsed and adding the printers manually, with static ip addresses, has fixed the issue. Oddly enough, I ran Fedora 40 for a week without any issues from CUPS prior to installing Mint. I'm sticking with Mint for now, though, as everything else seems to be working great. That was a very annoying issue for me as I do all my printing for work on this machine, and it was extremely unreliable until i figured this out.

This is the opposite of windows. Windows arrives full of bloated spyware and usually comes pre broken somehow. Updates are so full of drama since they often break more things than they fix. The idea of modifying the gui is an impossible dream as well. Linux mint installs easily and almost always just works. Updates are completely optional and generally dont cause any problems.
