70s style homes are some of my favorites to make just because I can be as mismatched and funky as I want and guess what. It works. Because 70s. 🤷🏻♀️✨👌
I love houses from the 70's I've always thought the shag carpet was really cool. Also, I'm so happy The Sims 4 is free on Origin. I'd been wanting to play it for the longest time, but didn't have the money and now I can!! I've already got a Sim that's reached the top of the business career, married and has a kid and I've only been playing for a couple of days. 😂
WHY!?!? how can anyone like anything about interior design from the 70s....... Do you want our carpet when we rip it out finally??? It's authentic 70s shag horrendously bright red with flecks of brown and egg yolk yellow. You'd love our bedroom. I hate it. I grew up in a victorian inspired home and I didn't know what I had until it was gone. My parents were kids in the 70s and they hate 70s aesthetic too 🤣 I'm jealous of people like you it'd be nice to be content with my surroundings as they are but no I'm gonna have to pay upwards of $500 to rip out the carpet and install a new floor, and paint the walls, nothing can be done about the probably asbestos popcorn ceiling tho...
KAYLA thank you for building this because I’m doing your NSB challenge starting from 1950s vibes and then 60s 70s and so on for every generation so I’ll definitelyYYY use this for gen 3😂💛💛
7:35 This idea was actually really creative. I really want to try this in my next build. You're amazing Kayla! The way you did the split-leveling seemed so natural. I could actually see someone having a living room that looked like this!
This speaks so much to the house and neighborhood I grew up in. Gosh! So much detail, I love all of it! I can get that it’s not that popular style anymore but, so awesome that you can create it brings so much joy. Thank you!
In the Sims 3, I have all the expansion packs, all the stuff packs, almost all the store items, and many mods. My game takes up almost 40 GB... You’re right in saying that we shouldn’t calculate how much money that is... 😅
When Kayla says "us older folk" but then "i was 9 when the sims 3 came out" 😭 oh dear, I was 9 (almost) when the sims 1 came out... god, I feel old now
I absolutely am obsessed with this build! I love vintage-y, decades inspired things. You should definitely create a CAS vid for the family because I love the storyline!
I grew up in a house eerily similar to this. We had split leveling in the living room just like this. We also had the mirrored walls, horrible wall paper that will haunt my dreams, and fake wood paneling all over the place. I can vouch that this build is 100% accurate for how 70s houses were built. I can't wait to download this and let my sim grow up in it then renovate it. This is one of your best builds!
Im so glad I got into your content in time for this. The seventies is my favorite era aesthetic-wise (godawful though it is) and you captured it so well, and the story to go with it had me wheezing.
My friend wanted to say thanks to you because I watched this video and told my friend (who could not afford sims but wanted it really bad) about the free sims thing and she got it and loves it! So thank you 😌
i have been putting this off but i looked this up because my first memory of getting through a lilsimsie video was this one and the only the i remember about it was the fact that the living room area was a split floor at around 9:14. back when i was younger i didn’t watch her that much because i thought speed builds were boring but now i literally watch her everyday LOL and i love her she’s great!!! she also is the yt’er that got me into the sims!!
I still have all my original Sims discs- The original through 3 plus all my store content & have all the Sims 4. So many years of bday & Christmas money.
I saw the outside and was like 'huh this looks like my godmother's house' and watching the inside i'm like 'this is just a speedbuild of my godmother's house' old fridge in the garage and all - with those cheap ice blocks as well.
My parents were also kids in the 70's. The house my parents and I live in was my grand-parents house so it was most likely built in the 70's. All the walls, ALL of them are wood panels. We never had any tiles but we had kind of "plastic" flooring that's like immitating tile patterns. I remember being a kid and our living room was so brown, beige, yellow, white... Gorgeous. Oh, and there's a deer head over our couch, in the living room. 😂
i was howling when you mentioned that you didn't know where a radiator went, they're standard here in the Uk bc its fricken cold, be glad you dont have them bc heating a house is hella expensive lmao
I totally lived in a 70s house in high school and loved the huge mirrored walls. It was great for taking selfies when I was into that. We did take out the carpet and put wood floors and it has a huge sunken living room. I miss that house like you wouldn't believe. 70s houses are the best. It is a freakishly huge house on a 5.5 acre lot. I'll probably end up building it in the sims when I have more experience building houses.
my old house looks like that. everywhere you go in my state is another split level, mid century modern house or a victorian, san francisco style house. i love this house
Dying over thoughts of pricing. My mom had The Sims when I grew up so I played that as one of the first games I ever played and I've had all the packs for all the games so far... I do not want to know what that adds up to even excluding Sims 3 store content. Great build!
