Don't forget to playtest 😉 PS: you dont need to type 'testingcheats true' to access your moveobjects, showhiddenobjects and showliveeditobjects cheats ☺️ 'testingcheats true' is only used to access additional cheats that can also be useful when you build. By typing 'testingcheats true', you can Shift + click surfaces and do other fun stuff like teleport your sim, make items dirty/clean, etc. You can read more about cheats here: www.ea.com/en-gb/games/the-sims/cheats
Love your videos! Another tip is to make them gameplay friendly. Unlike real life where you are in the space in Sims you basically view your house as a 3D model. So creating it in a way where there is no objects interrupting your view is important.
Yes this! There's a lot of discourse on builders being obligated to play test or not, but I personally believe that we should if we expect others to use our builds. Might as well make them useful for other players to use. Thanks for sharing 😊
This is one of the best tutorials I've ever seen, creators rarely reference real interior design theory when giving tips, that tend to be incredibly helpful. Love this video so much! Keep up the good work ❤
the eleventh position is the one I follow most scrupulously if I want the most realistic house possible. I still don't understand why after so many years both the counters and the kitchen doors are so unrealistically large... even if I make them smaller they don't have a realistic effect
I believe The Sims 4 is meant to be a dollhouse simulator rather than a life simulator like The Sims 3 was. Why EA/Maxis went down this route is beyond me, but it's too late to change it now, I guess. Thanks for the video @paszerine, it was very informative, entertaining and well put together. Cheers, mate.
Important side note at 3:40 . As of a recent base game update (the one that came a few days before the For Rent EP), you can actually CHANGE the windows in the EA apartments (City Living/Eco Lifestyle). You can move them, delete them and add new ones. So you're not as constrained in the apartments anymore, that is if you don't mind your windows mismatching those in the walls below you 😊. Ok back to the video, just wanted to mention it before I forget 😅.
Ohh yes! I made this video before the update and didnt notice that bit. Thanks for letting me know 😊 this was a much needed change! Side note: I love that your pfp is Rayla from the Dragon Prince 😆
I'm glad that they did this. I like changing just about everything in my sim's homes to be as eco friendly as possible and the windows are a big one for me because the Eco Life windows give bill discounts.
I’m a motion designer and an artist, so creative activities came easier to me. But interior design in Sims was a struggle! It was a whole different ball game. Favourite tip was the flow of movement. Thanks for this video, it was super helpful!
This is probably the best sims interior tutorial on youtube. I'm also so obsessed with your modern rooms you showed us in this video, they feel so peaceful. I always through more clutter the better, but I think I like this vibe of some breathable free-flowing space more
Thank you for not going into the clutter/default thing too much. Lots of houses in the gallery have too much clutter and it drives me crazy. I often find myself removing a lot of it especially if it's placed with move objects because a lot of it clips through walls which makes it really hard to place other items on the wall/floor (like beds or couches) when it doesn't let you place it and when I remove things for that reason before I know it I have an empty room or yard.
I love creating homes for my Sims based on their personalities. You are definitely in a class by yourself. This was an excellent video. It was clear, concise, and very informative. You are very talented in a multitude of ways.
This tutorial really helps, I actually have abckground in design but, having difficulty in dreating MY OWN house (I've tried, I made a gunshot style one, once) and I've DL some houses from Gallery; I like the looks of houses from Gallery specially the those in the most popular ones. But I always ended up redoing the interior because for me they were not made both functionality and Sims' moveability. Kudos to those creators because creating your own house is really hard lol!
Most items in game can be resized and still be usable, but a few things just don't work correctly. Always play test before uploading a lot to the gallery. I didn't know that about art on the gallery. I'll definitely be checking that out. Thanks for the tips, lots of a great info in this video.
Oh, I forgot to mention that there is free graph paper online that is pretty easy to use. I think it's called virtual graph paper. Google will find it. You don't have to make an account or anything. I use it to plan out my Sandrock houses because I find it much easier to visualize where I'm going with it and Sandrock is much more limited than the Sims because building a house isn't the focus. You may have mentioned the virtual graph site in your videos, this is the first one YT has thrown at me. Anyway, thanks again.
Very true! Always playtest 👏 glad you found this video helpful. Gallery art is a game changer! Also yes about the graph, thanks for sharing! You can also use google sheets cause it's free as well 😊
Your video is great! I've been playing the sims since The Sims 2 and learned along the way, But with your video I learned a lot more than I did all these years playing. Feels great to have a new way of thinking! Thank you sooo much.🤩🤩
Yes they're all super talented 😍 Schnuck and RG are definitely creators admired a lot too. It's a little sad how Fantasims is not as active as she used to be. I really miss seeing her creations
Great Video! I just started my channel and I totally respect the amount of work this video took to work and you did an an amazing job and it contained LOTS of useful information.
I absolutely love this video and it does help a lot, I know some simmers love clutter and i have always wondered is that a good idea or not it may look great but Sims need to move around. They do move around a lot
Clutter is great! They make your space more fun, realistic and lived-in. It's important to play-test though, especially if you're cluttering specific areas where there is a lot of activity like the kitchen. Dont worry about over cluttering, do what you feel is right 😊
Such a change from the animated you, we saw on the last tips video you made. Great job. You look lovely, and I know it takes a lot of courage to do face cam. Terrific content. The fundamentals of design are always a great thing to share. Keep up the good work!
This means a lot to me so thank you 🥹 I thought it was time for this channel to evolve, and it's nice seeing some returning viewers in my comments despite these changes. Glad you liked the video!
Not seen your videos before, i loved this one, as i do sometimes feel over whelmed especially decorating a big space. The rooms you showed were stunning! 💖
Hey thank you for this video! Im feeling so inspired after this, I love the way you approach it and deliver the tips. Made me realize how much more there is to design than what we actually see at first. For instance the way lighting changes the mood and in real life fragrances are added to certain places to evoke something. Those things can go unnoticed if you are not really paying attention and make such a difference. Its all in the details it seems. There are certain styles and objects that I found awful but you have managed to compliment them in a way that it makes sense I can see theres a lot of care on how you approach your buildings, almost methodical, you make a mood board to generate new ideas, you make a houseplan etc, truly shines a light on how the creative process work. I am definitely saving this video as I can see myself applying this in other aspects of life as well. I hope this makes sense, I am having a hard time expressing how much joy this video brought me xD it highligthed and reminded me how learning is amazing and interesting, Thank you again :>
This is probably one of the nicest and most heartfelt comments I've ever received in any of my videos 🥹 so thank you for making my week! I love interior design, and I wanted to share that love with others even if it's just through the Sims. Glad you found this video helpful! And yes, proper planning is the ultimate hack to a good build. That's why it's number one on this list 😉 I wish you the best of luck on your builder's journey!
@@paszerine Thank you ! Im glad you liked the comment I was afraid I might have sounded too weird or something, english is not my first language so I had a hard time expressing myself. I would LOVE more videos like this one, the way you present the ideas is absolutely amazing. I can truly see that each house you build is a labor of love, even if its 'just a game'. Im so glad you found your true calling
Wow, thank you! ☺Just found this video and subscribed immediatelly. I'm a bit rusty since I haven't played in a while (work...). I gotta watch these videos for new tips&tricks coz you can never have enough of those. Floor plans can ruin me sometimes but the most difficult for me is the roof plan. I can litterally spend 2h only on the roof and end up crying coz I still can't figure it out lol. The floor plan is mostly difficult when I wanna build a small house and the stairs are litterally killing me😅
Glad you found this video helpful 🥰 oh yeah, roofs are the worst 😅 I miss the auto-roof tool from the previous games. My advice as someone who also finds roofing challenging is to keep the shape of your home simple. I'm not saying just stick with a box but linear shapes make it easier to do roofing. My first tip applies here and you can always browse online for the types of roofs and experiment a bit ☺️ you can also use platforms as roofs if you have a modern build. Hope this helps!
Gallery art is awesome. I used to lust after cc art, and then saw Schnuck using and crediting no cc gallery art and was hooked. There are thousands of awesome works on there. Really great source for multi-cultural stuff too.
I wish I had come across this video sooner, but better late than ever. I feel inspired to build now because I've always relied on gallery creations since I don't feel creative or like I'm good at designing.
I always forget about gallery art... regarding learning from others, I used to watch a lot of simmer but in the end, I felt bad since I couldn't build as good as them, I always compared myself to them and it made me quit the game for a while. Just don't forget that you need to build for your own style and uses in the game!
I get that 😅 Sometimes I feel that way too, but it's important to know that sometimes we can learn a lot from people who are more experienced than us 🩷 Gallery art is such a gamechanger! I'm wishing you the best of luck on your builder's journey
For me when I build I kinda follow my house lay out so at the entrance beside it is staircase to upstairs and then there my living room and dining and kitchen so it's a very open house I just change it up a bit with my idea, so I can make it on the spot ❤
I love this video 🙌🙌 I mainly use the sims to build, not actually to play the game, but I still don’t feel like i’m great at it yet (it’s been years, only recently have I discovered debug objects 😭) I also had no idea about gallery art and i’m so excited to check that out
I appreciate the emphasis on actual real-life interior design as well - animal crossing taught me about feng shui but the sims has yet to teach me that much (other than the word “frieze”)
Not sure if you’ll even read this. But I’ve watched several videos by you and honestly, I’ll bow down for you. Your creativity and your skill to do the most amazing things in your builds is truly exceptional.
Thanks so much, I'm glad I found your channel. I've been a builder since sims 3, but I often 'run out of steam' after completing a bunch of lots. Some of your tips have inspired me. Cheers, #qubedesign
Don't place large objects on innerwalls. That's the best tip. You don't want to be playing with the walls down, and your view is still blocked by a huge bookcase.
Paszerine re: (Pinned comment) ‘Don’t forget to playtest.’ - We don’t sketch out builds beforehand (02:11), but generally always playtest, because never know what’s going to be a little fiddly. For example, paused while filming the ‘Christmas Gifts’ episode to playtest the Santa sleigh, to see if the Sims could actually climb up to the sleigh seat. Anything with platforms, in particular, usually have to test it out just in case. So, pragmatic advice. Nice episode.
I am new to Sims 4 and this is a very valuable source of information. Thank you! But how did you manage to build with the camera in bird perspective? I have TOOL installed and figured out how to free the camera with the tab key, but then my building UI is gone. I have to learn a lot about the controls in this game.
Thank you! Glad you found this helpful :) for the camera, try ticking the box for 'Sims 3 camera' under your controls and camera in your in-game settings. It's a lot easier to use and navigate compared to the Sims 4 camera. Hope this helps
Other tips I've already learned: 1- Learning to build and decorate is not instantaneous, so don't feel frustrated if you can't do something incredible the first few times. 2- An interesting way to practice is to look for shells in the gallery. Shells are constructions that generally only have predefined walls, sometimes with doors and windows. 3- Building and decorating take time. It can take you 30 minutes, a few hours or even days to complete a build. The important thing is that you don't wear yourself out too much because you'll end up finding the whole process very boring and you'll give up.
love this vid! i try to build but tbh I just end up downloading lots in the gallery. btw is it your build at 6:03? love the interior. def need that in my save file.
Practice is key and hopefully my video can help you when you try to build 😊 all the interiors you see in this video are mine and you can find the full tours/where to download on my channel too
I have a problem. I don't like making builds in modern style. I like cottage style, farm, or shaby, almost falling apart buildings. But I never see any tutorials for that. I want to give my teen sims their own room style reflected by their personalities, but they usually never match the rest of the house :cc
No worries ☺️ I made this list in hopes that it could cater to all styles no matter how unique or eccentric, so the tips can still help you. Sometimes it's just a matter of perspective and seeing what works. And dont worry. My bedrooms especially for my teens and kids dont always match with the rest of the house either 🤭 the bedrooms are the part of the house where your sims individual personalities can shine the most
I hate choosing color, especially wood cause some objects never match the wood color, so when the wood is different I think the decor won't look good and give up
its actually more fun and realistic to add different colors and types of wood in one build. most ppl, including me, have different types of wood for beds, desks, chairs etc. a way to harmonize it would be to use a set of matching wood objects (ie. same wood for tables, chairs or shelves) and contrast them with a differing wood parquet or bedframe or closet. also it looks better if the types of wood are in higher contrast, ie. one lighter and one darker, rather than trying to match them all. i think the color rule mentioned in the video is pretty important, since having a specific accent colour spread across the room can unify it. also, if youre working with a specific style or region, researching the types of trees that grow there/are most often used for flooring and furniture really helps add to the vibe.
Don't forget to playtest 😉
PS: you dont need to type 'testingcheats true' to access your moveobjects, showhiddenobjects and showliveeditobjects cheats ☺️ 'testingcheats true' is only used to access additional cheats that can also be useful when you build. By typing 'testingcheats true', you can Shift + click surfaces and do other fun stuff like teleport your sim, make items dirty/clean, etc.
You can read more about cheats here: www.ea.com/en-gb/games/the-sims/cheats
this!! you also dont need it for cas.fulleditmode
i hadn't heard of the 60-30-10 color rule, i'll definitely be using that! really beautiful builds by the way, and thanks for the video!
Love your videos!

Great video!! Thank you!😊
What a great video! Thank you 🙏 ❤❤
So proud friend here ❤❤❤❤
I am new to Sims 4 and this is a very valuable source of information.
@@paszerine Hi! Thank you. I'm gonna try that.
Other tips I've already learned:
1- Learning to build and decorate is not instantaneous, so don't feel frustrated if you can't do something incredible the first few times.
All of these 🙌💕 shells are great and they do help, and it takes a lot of time and patience to create something beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
I use floor plans
love this vid! i try to build but tbh I just end up downloading lots in the gallery. btw is it your build at 6:03? love the interior. def need that in my save file.
Practice is key and hopefully my video can help you when you try to build 😊 all the interiors you see in this video are mine and you can find the full tours/where to download on my channel too
Wow thanks for all the good tips!
Such an amazing and helpful video! 💞
Thank you May 🥹
I have a problem.
My bedrooms especially for my teens and kids dont always match with the rest of the house either 🤭 the bedrooms are the part of the house where your sims individual personalities can shine the most
Learned a lot! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for sharing your tips, I feel so inspired!!:D
Thank you so much, I love this video & it will be so helpful for me 😊
preparing my note for this.

So inspiring! Thank you 😍
Hey, you have a beautiful smile ☺️
Hello, do you know from whom is the laundry room at 10:01 ? Good video! 😊
Super helpful! Thank you!
i like your video easy to know
Amazing! Thanks for sharing
(Maybe unrelated to sims) Would you be willing to share your journey as an interior designer? Really curious about your background on this.
This sounds like a cool idea and I might consider it 😊 it's nice to know there are people interested
ty this helped sm ❤️❤️
@jagorzravnice thanks for the tip! I'll try again
Hey were are those red tiles in the kitchen at 5:47 Thx 🥰 also I subbed don't worry!!!!
Thanks for the sub! They're from Jungle Adventure ☺️ a lot of beautiful tiles from that pack
You don’t need testing cheats for build cheats! (Saying this misinforms & confuses the community)
Thanks for the other great build tips. 🙂
Oh yes, I realize that 😅 Inserted a text in the video in case you want to use the extra cheats that come when you shift click
2:16 May i ask what the grid is? because that's genius!
I used google sheets 😊 you can check out my vid on floor plans to see how I used it
What would I type in to find stuff like CC and its not..just wondering since I'm a console player. Absolutely love all your videos.
Hello! Glad you like my videos 🥰 Unfortunately CC is not available for console players
