In this video, I had 17/35 gearing. It was a little tall for my taste, so I swapped it to 16/35. We went on a 115 mile ride today and that gearing is spot on. The rear tire is a 2.75-17.
Hi Mike. Love to see that the little Honda's are getting lots of TLC. I have a collection of those too and love to ride them around too. Best wishes for your future endeavours and happy riding.
Riding these little bikes, wringing them out for every last bit of performance really takes you back to riding as a kid. Reminds you of why you fell in love with riding in the first place, often more than our modern super do it all bikes.
“Not a half-bad looking bike” you say, it’s a great looking machine for its age! The first little bit of a ride-along sounded real good. What sprocket ratio did it end up being with the 35-tooth rear?
About 10 years after purchasing an identical cl70 to the one in the video (new price $309), I received a check from Honda America for 30 dollars from a class action suit on the selling older models as newer model years. Mine was purchased in 72, and titled as a 72.
It is….and I’m going with a great group of guys. Really looking forward to this, it will push us past our comfort zone. 800 miles in 4 days is no easy task.
That looks like it would be an awesome trip. Wish some of the guys around here would do that. I’m retiring next year. Maybe I can come and join you all next year. I have a quick question the gas cap on the CL 70 that you have. Do you know any place that I could get one of those I have a CL 90 and for some weird reason the inside hole on it is smaller than the ones you can get off Amazon or eBay. That looks like the exact same one that I have. Could you measure the diameter on the cap that goes down to the tank by chance would you have one extra to sale?
@@MiniBikeMikeMy bad Mike for “petering out” too soon at the end of the video. Looking forward to the content you’ll be sharing of the Lake Michigan Roundy-Roady!
Hey Mike, I have this identical bike that was my grandfathers. I’m currently getting it torn down to get it all cleaned up but I need a few odds and ends parts, petcock, fuel cap gasket, wiring harness to convert to 12v and a rear blinker. I was wondering where you got most of your parts for this stuff. Appreciate the feedback. Thanks
It’s an old engine. Probably has 3000 miles on it. I pulled it from another bike. PCC Motor still sells these black Lifan 125 semis, but they’re like $500 now. Way more than I like to spend. I don’t understand what happened to all the semi-autos. They seem to have disappeared, since Covid.

Nice job Mike - really looks great. Bet it’s a real fun bike to ride👏👍
Thanks! Yes, huge grin the entire time you’re riding.
I'll tell ya, I absolutely love the variety of little Hondas. Really, whatever your taste, there is a little Honda that fits it. Great job, Mike.
Thanks. Agreed, Honda did a great job of offering an array of sizes and styles.

Sure is fun, riding a little bike at WOT. 45mph feels like you’re flying! Haha
I might have to a CL to add to my collection
With a 125, they’re a fun little bike.
Those cl are classy
They’re a good size. Very comfortable to ride.
One to go
👍🏾
It’s getting to crunch time, I’m running out of days.
Great video!!! Wish I could go😢😢😢😢. Have a great time & get lots of videos!!!!
We’re gonna have plenty of cameras…it will be our own fault, if we don’t get a good video out of it.
Nice work sir, very nice!
Thanks!

It's definitely getting to be a nice group of bikes!

Great video Mike! You guys enjoy your Epic Adventure!
Thanks Tom! I’m going with a great group of guys, it should be a blast.

Good job brother.

Nice Bike, thank you.
Thanks.
So, you’ve got a CT-110, a S65, and now a CL-70 ready to go! Any chance of a “spoiler alert” on what you’ve got in mind for 800-mile ride bike #4 ???
It’s mentioned at the end of this video, around the 53:40 mark.

@@MatthewWalker207-i2h I use Amazon or eBay, for most things. They should have the petcock, gasket and blinker. For wiring harness, I use Trail Buddy.
What’s the top speed? Nice video… well done!
Thanks! Took it out today for a 115 mile ride. Flat ground, with a long stretch to build speed, it hit right at 60mph.
Love the video Mike! The CL70 warms my ❤️😊. Where did you get the semi-auto engine? All I can find now are 4-speed manuals.
