My favourite influencers are mostly channels that create video essays and social commentary , Like yours, Mina Le's, Jarvis johnson's, Hasanabi. Or ones that provide educational content - Like Dr. Mike, Dr.K, Cinema therapy. Or channels that make me feel like I'm having fun with a friend (because aha I recently cut off some toxic friends and I feel pretty lonely) like internet mom ash, zoe unlimited (you ofcourse), Thewizardliz, lakia jai, and makingemi ✨

I agree with the third point. Now everyone's an influencer. The people who dance on silly sped up audios, the ones who put random glittery images and put a quote, the memers, cosplayers, animators, etc are all now influencers. Tiktok has surely helped them. Relativity and trust has decreased because of their over blown drama and extravagant life, to kids and teens. The ones i mentioned above are influencers, because they influence the opinion and mentality of a person.

my problem with influencers is that there's too many of them right now imo. but with the popularity of tik tok and how easy it is to go viral on the app, it's no surprise that there's SO MANY young people gaining platforms online at the moment in a way that even RUclips wasn't able to reach. and most of them also share similar characteristics which isn't shocking at all.

Influencers nowadays are just advertising machines. It’s become annoying that they are constantly shoving bad products (unethical as well) down my throat. I noticed it even more following people from before they became full time influencers and you see nothing is theirs anymore, every post is to convince you to buy something. The moment I unfollowed a lot of them, is the moment I stopped buying so many unnecessary things.
The worst part is that you can’t escape it, even if you pay a subscription to not see regular ads, the influencers still are walking ads. It’s sad honestly, because they stop being something that adds value to your life like Zoe’s content for instance.

My classmates and friends are constantly posting about where they were, what party they attended, who they hung out with. And the only reason they seem to be doing this is to flex on others that they have a better life, because why would I want to know where they went?

    • @Stuttsis

I think that has less to do with influencers and more to do with online presence- before the influencer topic people were already discussing the "highlight reel" and fomo feeling when it seems like people are just doing so many cool things all the time (because obviously there isnt a reason to document boring parts of your life online as much). If you receive it as negative then stop viewing it. Recently, I've seen a similar video about the ending of the influencer era. The conclusion there was that due to the lack of relatability, brands no longer will sponsor influencer videos. The new method to influence was described as the brands offering 'normal' people products or money and in exchange these people would post the products on Instagram.. so that the product is recommended by a friend and not an influencer... Apparently it's cheaper and more subtile.
To be honest, I do distinguish between influencers and content creators. And I have never perceived you as an influencer, but a content creator.

I think influencers should be your - for the most part - friends on the internet who share their lives, struggles, achievements, goals, and what they've learnt, and through that growth there will naturally be influence - the positive kind. There will be more trust, and that can help younger folk apply what those influencers have learnt or have done - and see if it works for them. More direct and honest. I think that's healthy.
I've never had hundreds of different people appear on my page as I do right now. I would be the first to say that's amazing. That could be a good thing! obviously people out here want to share their lives and stories. But woah looking at my recommended - it's a lil overwhelming. The algorithm is getting pretty messy. Also, there's been a huge decline in views for pretty big brand channels as more small influencers introduce themselves to the platform.
Many newbies don't seem to know what to post, their content is pretty scattered. I hope these small youtubers find the content they truly want to share. The key is bringing something new and refreshing to the market - that's something I really value. And that's what you , zoe , bring forward to us - to me your channel is sort of a breathe of fresh air. You can sum up what's going on and come to a very organic and settling conclusion. And I appreciate that a lot :D

The fact that some of us that are artists or aspire to be artists in the physical and digital world and receive so little following even if we post constantly. I do not know what to say but I really worked hard and I feel real bad in the digital world . I did not make that huge following that all people are talking about and wanted to gave up so many times..But when I did I only gave up Social Media and saw that my work is improving but not recognised. So they seek out ppl that are like to maybe daydream about being them or actually trying to be like them. People just don't want to work hard anymore. I like the creators who CREATE. I feel like influencers will still exist, but it will just be harder to make it your career. People will probably start valuing quality over quantity (which they should) and be very picky over who actually makes it. This age of people just relying on their looks and not putting effort will be gone. I'm considered a gen z, but I feel like a millennial of how I just keep running into people who expect that glamorous lifestyle to happen to them with minimal effort and I can't stand it. Also, can people please stop calling themselves an influencer after they've posted 1 video? I want to be a fashion designer, but I don't even call myself a designer because I simply lack the knowledge and I need to learn at least the standard before I can start telling everyone I'm a fashion designer. If you start giving yourself a title without enough experience, the people who want to hire you for marketing (or whatever) won't take you as seriously unless your videos are top notch quality.

there are two things that I dislike about the word influencer:
    - anyone can call themselves an influencer, so the word doesn’t add any significance nor value to your self. You cannot call yourself a doctor without haven’t gone to university, but you can call yourself an influencer without doing anything in your life (you can be pretty and that’s it). It doesn’t add the hardness other jobs do.
    - also, the term influencer applies to lots of different groups of people. you can be an influencer who works harder than anyone. But you can also be an influencer who is just lucky. In fact, when you think of influencers, you generally think of the second group of people, so that’s why everyone wants to be an influencer, because it seems that you get to be famous and rich by doing nothing.
sorry for my english. also this doesn’t mean I don’t like influencers, I respect lots of them so much, that’s why it frustrates me.

I personally think that the democratization of the plataforms has been a good thing. With everyone being able to be creative and share and romanticize their own lives even in a poor quality way, we ended up having more dance and music and art in our lives. And, although it is getting to the point of saturation and, therefore, to the point all those things become boring to us, in the end those who will last longer will be the people actually studying to make things more aesthetic and artistic and we will just go back to the same cycle, but this time with more people discovering themselves as creatives and artists or simply not and get to the conclusion that they are happier with a non-spotlight life, that there are better things to do than being famous in the way we define fame. I might be too optimistic tho lol

I've personally never cared for the stereotypical 'influencers' and have never followed them, to a degree. I find my interest in those that create informative youtube videos, but I care more for the content rather than the creator of that content and those who produce recipes or DIYs on Instagram. I really only follow people that will create substance in my life and my personal growth through learning about new topics or developing new skills, if I come across anyone who doesn't offer me that and is rather promoting random stuff and posting selfies I ignore them. I think to that degree, I gather my interest in content creators and the content rather than what is deemed an influencer.

I think of this topic the same way as a square and rectangle:
An influencer is a rectangle, and a content creator (or digital creator depending on where you live) is a square.
Not all rectangles are squares, but all squares are in fact rectangles.

Long time subscriber but I've never commented.
I agree with SO many of your videos and love creators and influencers like you who take time with your videos and post aesthetic and thought provoking material!
I avoid boring influencers who just flex their items or show how hot they are. Doesn't really interest me.
I appreciate fashion, make-up, and beautiful girls but I need more beyond that. Also, I don't have Tik Tok, and stick to IG and RUclips because I usually want tutorials or discourse.
Anyway, another beautiful video as always! Slaying like ALWAYS! Keep making videos for as long as it makes you happy please 🙏

    I see a difference in
Tiktok influencers and other social media apps are almost never influencers. When I see with 100K+ on tiktok or even 1M, I don’t care? I wouldn’t show up to their meet & greets
    If a youtuber has 100K that’s impressive
Tiktok invites you and makes it so easy to follow and never see them again
    Idk I’m too tired

I know somebody who is an “influencer” (not saying her name for privacy) and she’s truly a horrible person who is incredibly full of herself and looks down on people who don’t have as much as she does. It’s sad to see her comments full of people who talk about how kind and sweet she is when I’ve gone to school with her since age 8-9 and the majority of the time she’s deeply unpleasant to be around.

My favorite influencer is someone who has a heart to see the pain and suffering of others,. Someone who talks about what really matters. Talking about buying fancy purse or houses - completely irrelevant topic for so many people. There are a lot of people who are being choked by the system of unequal opportunities . They have to survive just to make the ends meet . But, I take it ,talking about the social/ economic problems would not be kosher . U see the freedom of speech is very limited . Someone who is trying to talk about these topics most likely will be muted by the media.

  • @amandalp9169
    @amandalp9169 Год назад +1

I would also add economic instability as leading to the decline of the influencer. Less disposable income means fewer people are buying more (with fewer clicks for businesses) and fewer influencers can therefore thrive (or even survive in some cases) on an unreliable source of income. This latest financial downturn will impact the influencer industry even worse than GFC.

When we hear the word influencers we tend to think of a Rich, pretty women with millions of followers who post's video's every week or every day, we don't realize that they are called influencers because they can influence us, they have the power over influencing us, depending on how much we allow them to (Cause we ourselves could reject them indirectly influencing us) For Example if your Favorite Influencer who you've been watching for a very long time, has a certain type of lifestyle, you might start adopting some behaviors or habits from them. Another problem is that nowadays influencers love flexing about their rich, dreamy lifestyle's (which gets boring, and everybody loves doing tht nowadays), which honestly from my viewpoint makes the audiences lose interest, Im pretty sure those audiences were thinking, what's the point of watching somebody who has a different lifestyle from us? how bout we watch someone more relatable? I honestly never was into watching influencers, especially those vlogger ones (they seem boring) I only watch commentary influencers, A little bit of Fashion influencers and that's it.
