    I believe setting a unit up on the table for any reason can trigger an Overwatch, so that would include getting out of a transport.

    Loving these - a note/suggestion when it comes to specific abilities or rules (like this one here, with the Assault Ramp) - add in a blurb/cut-out of that rule from the Core Rules and/or the Rules Commentary. It would possibly ease.

    doing a little scrubbing back-and-forth on the video, its worth pointing out, around 7:26-ish mark, the front of your tank ends up further "up" the objective marker when you do the movement via your "non-pet-peeve" method than with the "bend the tape measurer" method. dunno if that was your intention or not but if it was, better to let your opponents bend the tape lol..

    Great tactic vids man 🙌. Would love a video in depth for how Towering works. It’s still kinda confusing depending on house rules if it’s true line of sight or terrain is infinite in height. If a towering unit is behind a line of sight blocking terrain piece they can’t shoot over it right? But if they toe in they can? That’s how I understand it now at least 🤪

    At 6:57 You mention the pivoting of vehicles. I recently had a debate with a friend about this. We couldn't find the rule to say you have to measure the pivoting of the vehicle. Could you tell me where to find the rule that states it? I was sure it was the way you teach, but I couldn't find a rule to back it up.

    • @evilmattn

      in the app/core rules under 'Movement Phase - 1. Move Units': "[...] The distance a model moves is measured using the part of its base that moves furthest along its path. If a model does not have a base, measure using whichever part of that model moves the furthest."

    At 13:37 you mention that overwatch cannot target a disembarking unit since it doesn't count as a normal move. Indeed it's not a normal move, but overwatch is allowed when it's "Your opponent’s Movement or Charge phase, just after an enemy unit IS SET UP or when an enemy unit starts or ends a Normal, Advance, Fall Back or Charge move."
    Disembark reads "When a unit disembarks from a Transport model, SET IT UP on the battlefield..."
    So wouldn't that mean that overwatch still works based on the model being set up, much like units being set up from reserves? Can you prove that overwatch doesn't count for disembarking units? I'm genuinely curious since I want to get it right.

    Great information for disembarking but the bit on the movement of the vehicle annoyed me. You have to pay extra move to simulate how your vehicle would actually drive/move but driving your vehicle sideways if free of such cost even though that's not how a treaded or wheeled vehicle would be able to move. For a hover vehicle you could make an argument for but a standard wheel/track vehicle it makes no sense. I'm calling shenanigans. Other than that Great vid and keep up the good work.

    1. can you disembark in the reinforcement step of the movement phase?
    the rule mentions if a unit starts in a transport they can disembark in the phase not step.
    2. does disembarking a unit count as moved for purpose of heavy etc?
    as it doesn't state it has moved as it does in 9th edition.

I was wondering, is it possible to disembark a unit from a transport that has not moved yet and then embark a different unit on that same transport after the first unit has disembarked then moved away? Hey, newbie here with a niche transport question. I own a corvus blackstar, a flying transport. Me and my friends can' decide whether I disembark from the base or the hull.
    Intuitively I want to disembark from the base because I have the space to do so. But I'm pretty sure the rules just say 3 inches from a vehicles hull?

    • @janfreitag1633

      @janfreitag1633 I like this. So flying transports go from the base because it's exposed enough to work. Any part of the rulebook that clarifies this so I can point my friends towards it?

    • @stuartp2006
      @stuartp2006 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Xander101 Core rules page 7: "When measuring the distance between models, measure between the closest points of the bases of the models you’re measuring to and from. If a model does not have a base, measure to the closest point of any part of that model instead"
      Link that with transport rules on page 17: "When a unit disembarks from a Transport model, set it up on the battlefield so that it is wholly within 3" of that Transport model"
      As the transport rules refer to the model, and the core rules prioritise measuring from the base if your miniatures have one (and only using the actual physical model if it doesn't have a base), for flying transports you measure 3" from the base. Unless your flying model doesn't have a base and is just kinda floating there I guess.
      EDIT: (if they try to pull something like "but that's only between two models already on the table, this is a new model arriving", stop playing with them. Just pack up and leave.)

      @Xander101 7 месяцев назад

      @stuartp2006 I really appreciate this comprehensive response!
      Don't worry, my friends were actually insisting I could measure 3 inches from my Blackstars' hull, essentially giving me a 4/ 5-inch disembark. I didn't think it felt right, so it's nice to have it explained this way. I aspire to play at competitive events so I want to avoid learning bad habits that will make me look like "that guy"

    At 12:30 your comment about overwatch tactics seems out of date. In 10th overwatch can be called at any point in the enemy movement phase or charge phase. It has no relationship to when or in what order enemy units declare charges.

    • @DRcocosalt
      @DRcocosalt 7 месяцев назад +2

      no hes not wrong, it does block a overwatch.
      its to do with not being able to shoot when tied up in combat. if your in melee combat you cant shoot so you cant overwatch. overwatch says shoot as if it were your shooting phase so the shooting will still be blocked by melee range. they chould fire any pistols if they had them. also they shoulve just used overwatch in the movment phase if they were worried about this. (not all scenarios allow this, but the one in the video does)
      also side note i was told that you cant overwatch with a Vehicle that was in melee as 'big guns never tire' says owner [of the Vehicle/monster] turn only in the text. but over watch says as if it were your shooting phase. ive was playing it as ruled as the Vehicle not being able to shoot as that is what ive been told before, but im not sure if thats right, it might be a jugdes decision. in any case, in this video its a mounted unit so it doesnt apply.

      @@DRcocosalt Of course you can't shoot overwatch when tied up in combat. That wasn't the issue. What he suggested was that you could force the enemy to overwatch the rhino by charging with it first, which is what we used to do in older editions. In 10th you can fire overwatch at any time in the enemy movement or charge phase at any unit that's moved within 24 inches of your unit. I've been overwatched by enemy units 20 inches away while I was moving in the other direction. Overwatch has nothing to do with charges anymore. That's all I was pointing out.

      @@Riverboat374 this is a misundertanding of what we thought his point at 12:30 was, i thought he was refering to getting into melee 'if i dont fail my charge' to prevent that unit from over watch by tying it up in melee. you thought it was by breaking the timing of the overwatch like an older edtion (im not familiar with the older editions of rules i restrated playing when 10th came after 10 years). you are correct overwatch can be used at any time in the charge phase and with a unit that not the target of the charge and from the max of 24' (if visable). and im correct that tying the unit up will prevent overwatch. it just a deffrent interpretation of drit bags words thats the issue here. by 'force out an overwatch' i assumed he meant [or risk being tied up in combat]. were both right here.
