"This Train", also known as "This Train Is Bound for Glory", is a traditional American gospel song first recorded in 1922. Although its origins are unknown, the song was relatively popular during the 1920s as a religious tune, and it became a gospel hit in the late 1930s for singer-guitarist Sister Rosetta Tharpe. After switching from acoustic to electric guitar, Tharpe released a more secular version of the song in the early 1950s. Every two weeks or so I watch this. Never ever fails to make me smile. ❤
This is absolutely soul refreshing. What life is meant to be like in a 7 and a half minute video.
This train don't carry no liers, no hypocrites and no back sliders, this train
Gives me goose bumps every time I watch it!
the best version of this son bar none
Now THAT is a good time!!!
I always saw scenes like this in movies which took place in the Southern U.S., I used to think this was something of the past but now I know it's alive and well! how cool!!
Actually this sounds so good! I like it!
Just realised the bearded dancing dude is Edward Sharpe awesome musician in his own right
Alex Ebert
@@Muttonchop_USA they’re one and the same Edward is Alex it messes with google searches
I listen to this song at least a couple times a day. It gets me going every time I hear it. I was raised Pentecostal and this song makes me want to get up and dance shouting to the Lord! A big Amen to all of those who participated in this wonderful song.
My daughter and I will be going to see Mumford and Sons on September 16th...can't wait
Clifford Boland passed 3 years ago today. He was a railroad man and loved this song. Cliff this song is for you. This train is bound for glory this train!!! Love you see you in the yard up there one day
If you like this performance check out the full length film "Big Easy Express". The film follows performances along a whistle stop tour from California to New Orleans, Louisiana.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Everyone's enjoying...what a lively performance !
Still loving the energy that comes from this performance
a great antidote for bad moods
oh my goodness.....young people having so much fun......wonderful
Love the Ginger Accordian player. And the barefoot Charles Manson dude. Great video.
I have been having a rough couple of days...this helped a whole lot!
I LOVE this video with all the singers, instruments & lyrics. Love it.
How much happiness !!! LOVE IT
I want this played at my funeral my loved ones celebrating my life
For those who aren't aware, you can see all of this and more if you watch the Big Easy Express. I've seen/listened to it 5 times already and it's awesome!! You can buy it on DVD, or watch it on some of the Showtime channels. (that's where I've seen it) It's all of these incredible musicians making music, singing, playing, and doing shows along the way, all while riding a train from Oakland California to New Orleans. It was Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetice Zeros, and Old Crow Medicinne Show. An entire group of amazing musicians together in one place! 🎸
Thanks!!!!
Thank you!
You are very welcome!
+Kathy InCali I just got the DVD but couldn't find this particular track on it. There's another version of the song but not this jam, which I love. Made me sad.
I just realized my comment may have been misleading as it wasn't this exact version, I'm sorry. I hope you like the rest of it. It would have been a blast to have been on the ride with them!
I can not listen to this and not tap my foot and smile.....impossible.
American music is hands down the best. we may not have the best politicians but we sure have good music
getting to watch Edward Sharpe doing the "chicken-dance" all over the joint, (quite possibly after a joint) makes the price of riding this train totally worth it !!!!....long live chicken-dancing my friends....
Now...that's a down home, good ppl jam session!
Talk about musicians having the time of their life and just vibing! I'm Sure all of them will look back on this and wish they can relive it over and over again. I wish I could have been there! pure genuine vibing ho-down bliss!!
Sister Rosetta Tharpe is smiling down at these good folks from Glory land I know. What pure joy and excitement. What a band! I'd rather board this train to heaven, than the miserable bus to hell.
I was amazed Wonderful Best I have heard or seen in years Am 72 but this version got me excited and dancing yes sir I love them.. Lots more please I subbed your channel
This train is bound for Glory! No one rides but the righteous and the Holy! Praise God! Hope you are ready to ride!!!!! Get on board!!!!!
My brother-in-law, Rev. Jim Fraser is on that train.
They look so happy playing and singing.
Props to the bassist for keeping it all together
Them horns come in and really bring in the true era. love this video.
Jesus brings everyone together! Believer, non-believer and sinner. He is the righteousness of the Father. Can help to worship regardless of who's playing. God is good, all the time, God is good.
