On my Mothers death bed I sang this to her and it made her cry. It makes me cry now. Good memories of my beautiful loving Mom.

I was in this crowd! After waiting in line in the sweltering Tennessee heat from morning until they took the stage I got to see them front row (stage left). This song was a climatic finish to their set! Thanks for posting and allowing me to relive that amazing evening!
Ha! I just found me and my husdband! 8:53 I'm right behind the lady in the blue shirt. My husband is in the white shirt and red banddanna behind tie-dye guy. The guy with dreads and yellow hand band and two ladies next to him were our friends the whole day. We killed time playing cards and talking as we waiting in line. Ah...memories. Love Bonnaroo!

marcus says he believes in jesus and his teachings but doesn't like what the church has become. OCMS. I'm pretty sure they believe in God (not 100% sure) but playing this in a mocking way? Absolutely not, it's from the heart. I promise you they didn't gather up in the back and say, "You know what? Let's sing amazing grace but mock the Lord as we do it." I know for sure they have more respect than that.
alphant1 Marcus Mumford is not technically a practicing Christian but he was raised by a pastor father. His spirituality is no ones business, same as everyone else on that stage.
Amazing Grace is a common song performed by country and bluegrass artists. Bluegrass is derived from gospel, naturally it would have spiritual elements to it, because spiritual based hymns are its foundation.
How about instead of getting righteous on the technicalities of religion, you just simply understand why "secular" musical bluegrass groups tend to sing spiritual songs?

sheldon blankenship actually most of the time they do these things they don't rehearse them so it is necessary plus it's nice for most people who don't know the people or their instruments so they get so credit. Plus someone needs to lead it! I think it's awesome. Plus necessary :)
