Dramatic and soulful, this scorching performance show that nobody does it like Nancy Wilson and this awesome concert should be on DVD...also Capitol Records needs to release her extraordinary 70's masterpieces...what are they waiting for? Bravo Nancy!!!
Nancy in prime form. Thanks for posting these clips. I prefer her just like this: on a big stage under the lights, in a beautiful gown, with an orchestra or a big band. She always had the ability to get inside the lyric of a song. Love it.
Combine this singer singing (especially "Love Me Tonight), a dark room, and a sofa and all sorts of magic can happen. I love Nancy Wilson's voice. Talk about memories....
Oh what a lady!! She's been my favourite for years not only for her vocal ability but her performances are all heart and soul. Goosebumps!! Thanks for posting it :-)
The Late Great Miss. Nancy Wilson, I found out suddenly last night that she had left us, she had already been gone a week. It just goes to show how temporal life really is. I have been listening to Nancy Wilson for virtually the whole of my life. I even met her on three separate occasions , once in Detroit, once in Los Angeles, and once in London, each meeting seemed to me to ill timed as I went away from each meeting with the impression that she was a very temperamental person, maybe she really was, then again perhaps she wasn't, I will simply chalk it up to bad timing on my part. One thing I do know is that our meetings never dissuaded me from wanting to hear more of her, and her music, she was to be certain a national musical t treasure. There is an album cover somewhere which shows her standing on a star on the Hollywood walk of fame, clad in a full length yellow gown, a most unforgettable image of exactly what she was in this lifetime...A STAR!!!
She lives and breathes her music- she makes you FEEL every emotion as she eases and glides through each melodic note. Nuff said!!! Beautiful both internal and external.
WHILE SERVING IN THE U.S.NAVY 1963-66 MY FRIENDS AND I WOULD CHILL AND LISTEN TO OUR FAVORITE MUSIC AND THAT'S WAS THE FIRST TIME I HEAR AND FELL IN LOVE WITH MS NANCY WILSON AND HER SOFT AND ROMANTIC VOICE
Well, it's a lot of intensity. Nancy hits those ballads as if she's giving birth, and that's what takes you on that journey. For my money, she can blink all she wants as long as she keeps singing like that! Just watched the one video and I already feel spent...
This song is a continuation in a way of One For My Baby, both songs penned by Mercer. Nancy has always been a favorite of mine, and sings this song with much feeling, however, in my opinion, this tune belongs to Frank along with One for my baby. Thanks for posting!
There are some amazingly similar qualities to Nancy Wilson and Dinah Washington's voices. The closing song, "I'll Close My Eyes" was song by Dinah Washington, if I'm not mistaken. Both are amazing and of course, Dinah Washington died all too young. You can get a recording of "Drinking again" on The best of roulette series with Dinah Washington...
I first heard Sinatra sing '"drinkin' again" and his emotion was raw and real since it was right after Ava. Nancy has her own style with a song which is incredible and inimitable! Love it! She really knows how to sing a story like no other! Her rendition of this ballad pierces my heart right down to the pit of my stomach, her version is so dramatic and powerful! (And I know the feeling she is describing here, painful but poignant!)
I first heard Frank Sinatra sing this song -- he did "saloon songs" so well and said that was his fortè. Nancy does them very well also, but then, she puts so much feeling into all her songs. She's been a favorite of mine for many, many years now. Nancy puts so much of herself into a song, that when I see the veins on her neck stand out like that, I'm afraid she could have a stroke! But she never did. She's retired now, a well-earned rest from a very long career. We miss you Nancy!
@olivia717 Hey dudette, the song is on an album called 'Midnight Jazz' (2 x CD). It is through EMI GOLD and the cover is of a picture of blue velvet (not the movie). Also the song is sung by Dinah Washington on the album, not Nancy Wilson. I've attached a link to Amazon to show you the details of the Album. I hope this helps you. Cheers, from Australia
same here.. i wish it was, very nice version. Aretha Franklin has a version too that is really nice . dont know what album its on .. its from her early days at columbia records.
one of the the best vocals i have ever heard.... passion, pain, emotion.... it has it all.... she doesnt just sing, she pours out her heart and makes us all think and reflect.... only the greats can do that
i just came from the movie, "the butler" which stars oprah winfrey. the song when the movie closes i would have SWORN was sung by nancy wilson. it was sung by a new singer called, "fantasia." they sound exactly alike! and you gotta' hand it to me--i know my torch singers. i know what nancy wilson's voice sounds like instantly.
Nancy Wilson is timeless. She's always done her own eccentric thing and she's still doing it. Listen to this sample from 2006: missnancywilson dot com/ music/ TTB_TurnedToBlue dot mp3
There is no justification saying miss B sings better than miss A on miss A's platform. No matter how good or bad they are. This rule applies to all categories of song male or female.
@fstop101 Bette's version is my favorite. It's just her with Barry Manilow on piano and she remains faithful to the melody line, basically "acting" the song.
@anatolianINVASION It's such a cliche to eat our young in order to praise the veterans. It simply is not necessary. Besides, Beyonce is a wonderfully talented all around entertainer. There will always be great singers. Nancy is one of the greatest. She had her detractors when she was young too.
Musical Storyteller, no one better than Nancy Wilson
Dramatic and soulful, this scorching performance show that nobody does it like Nancy Wilson and this awesome concert should be on DVD...also Capitol Records needs to release her extraordinary 70's masterpieces...what are they waiting for? Bravo Nancy!!!
I'm going to see her 70th birthday celebration at the Hollywood Bowl. I can't wait. She's an American icon.
Nancy, we love you and miss you horribly. Thank you for sharing your life with us and enjoy the next life in heaven.
This was when truly talented people had stage presence and knew how to work the audience. And Nancy still has "it".
Nancy is truly an international treasure and a extremely classy lady. All the young divas should take a LOT of lessons from her
NANCY WILSON!!! SHE`S ONE IN A MILLION! CLASS ACT!!!
This is my favorite, definitive cover of this classic torch song. Nancy gets it and delivers all the sadness and desperation of a broken heart.
that was Ms. Nancy Wilson!!
What a great performance. I miss Ms. Nancy.
My Queen.She is so soulful

I absolutely love NANCY WILSON. she is the epitome of style and grace.
Everything Miss Wilson sings is worth listening to. There aren't enough superlatives to describe her talent. She defies comparison.
I'm back and guess I'll keep returning until the end. Love this so much....so much feeling. What a treasure she was.
This is great. The maturity of this material is so much beyond today's music.
Combine this singer singing (especially "Love Me Tonight), a dark room, and a sofa and all sorts of magic can happen. I love Nancy Wilson's voice. Talk about memories....
Thank you sooooo much for posting this video I watch it at least 3 times a week. So beautiful. We all could use a little Nancy in our lives...
Nancy is just the best to me. She is class and talent.
Oh what a lady!! She's been my favourite for years not only for her vocal ability but her performances are all heart and soul. Goosebumps!! Thanks for posting it :-)

That album is "Hollywood My Way" arranged by the fabulous Jimmy Jones.
She lives and breathes her music- she makes you FEEL every emotion as she eases and glides through each melodic note. Nuff said!!! Beautiful both internal and external.
She is soo talented. One of the jazziest jazz singers ever :)!
Such a beautiful rendition ❤️
I saw Nancy at the OLD Sands Hotel in Las Vegas 1969 for the price of one cocktail..Classy Lady..Smoothe..
I saw her Kansas City in 1975 she had just given birth to her daughter Samantha 2 months earlier.
Her voice is like silk.
So amazing! This is by far the best cover of this song
I wish someone would post her performance of Teach Me Tonight from this concert.
Have you found it yet? Would love to see that. Amazing
One of the best female voices in jazz....no doubt......love you Nancy!!

She is one of my favorite singers on the planet!!
I love Nancy Wilson...she's a real lady
This will indeed...stir your soul. Love you Nancy.
I love. This woman.
stellar ... the incomparable Nancy Wilson.
If you ever get to hear her sing Barry Manilow's "When October Goes" it's beyond sublime.
Still loving this...big time!!
This song is a continuation in a way of One For My Baby, both songs penned by Mercer. Nancy has always been a favorite of mine, and sings this song with much feeling, however, in my opinion, this tune belongs to Frank along with One for my baby. Thanks for posting!
No words!!!!!!

Man Nancy can Bring It! U go girl!
Oh my I'm in love what a breathe of fresh air

Hi Olivia, the lyrics are by Johnny Mercer and the music by Doris Tauber. Frank Sinatra does a great version too! ;)
I first heard Sinatra sing '"drinkin' again" and his emotion was raw and real since it was right after Ava. Nancy has her own style with a song which is incredible and inimitable! Love it! Sorry (see post below)...the closing song in "The Butler" was "I'll close My Eyes."
@TheCurrey Thanks so much! You're awesome!
Nancy can identify wth all this stuff....I heard she was a heavy drinker.....great voice !!!

Who are the ten people that didn't like this? What!?
People that are deaf to begin with. And hv horrendous taste.
Who could not love FANCY NANCY.????
As far as I know, the song is not on any of her albums.
no videos of Della Reese singing DRINKING AGAIN? !!
Take a look at Dinah Washington my friend.
@KevinETaylor AGREED!!!!
Anybody has her "Forbidden Lover" music video?
@olivia717 Alls good! :-) Good know that you got the message and maybe enjoy the album. Take it easy. Cheers. :-)
