Im in tears because they all passed away and this was such a great memory R.I P Ella Nancy,Al
She could really sing anything. Forever treasure Ella.
Her voice didn't weaken at all with age! Just incredible!
I agree her later PABLO recordings for NORMAN GRANZ are my favourite especially the 70s album ELLA AND OSCAR
Yes, Ms. Ella's voice stayed fabu!
R.I.P Nancy Wilson & Al Jarreau. Jazz music will never sound the same without you.
This is awesome ... Nancy Wison and Al Jarreau ... both legends and Ella of course ... so many greats ... greatly missed.
These three are the definition of true talent.
I've watched this clip probably dozens of times and it always makes me happy/sad/grateful. We have now lost Ella, Al and Nancy. What a gift to the world they were and are.
She was America’s treasure, that’s true of course.
But I want to add : she was the entire world’s darling.
I am Canadian, I live in Europe and I can assure you that still today, in 2021,
many people know and cherish Miss Ella Fitzgerald !!!
We can hear this lady singing all her beautiful songs on radios. And televisions are still having programs about her life and career, that’s comforting. We don’t forget her.
She still the Star of the jazz in 2021 !
I remember seeing this show and Ella came up there and showed her tail...LAWD That Woman Sang!!!!!
I never forgot this either and I was SUPER little. It was the first time I ever saw her. I became an instant enthusiast.
I was very moved by Ella's performance.(to tears) What a gem this whole clip is. Nancy Wilson and Al Jarreau were fantastic!........and words can not express how much I love and admire Ella Fitzgerald! They don't make em' like those 3 any more!
Im always amazed at how humble Ella Fitzgerald appeared to be about her talent.
She didnt "big" herself up or act like a superstar. Yet she was greater than all of those who do.
How times change!
The fabulous Nancy Wilson & Al Jarreau (sing Ella's signature song) just proved these 3 could sing ANYTHING. Can you imagine what heaven must sound like with all this talent. RIPEllaNancyAl 🎼🎼🎼💖💖💖
Ella’s performance here brings me to tears.... she’s just amazing!
I just watched it today and I am crying! Beautiful woman, beautiful voice.
Man...i was already crying watching Ella still shining at the end of her life. But maaaaan..
When they showed Esther Rolle holding back tears then WHITNEY...I lost it. Sobbing like a mug.
Same thing happened to me! Can't stop crying...I love Ella
Me 2. I missed them all. Lawd ham mercy they were sho nuff Class Acts😭😭😭😭😭
These are the kind of videos that inspire true appreciation for magnificent talent. I'm grateful to be able to watch this awesome event.
DID YOU SEE THE MEGA TALENT SITTING IN THE AUDIENCE !!!
Rodney Miller there seem to be alot of ungrateful and unimaginative people in the audience.
Whitney.
No , I just saw ELLA !!-
I saw Oprah & Stedman, Denzel Washington, Kim Fields, Lionel Richie, Patti Labelle too.
The biggest MEGA talent was ON the stage.
al Jarreau is my favorite male artist. I remember crying so bad when hearing of his passing n I never cry for artists. RIP Mr Al Jarreau. U r sorely missed
Cherise S I swear I felt like I lost family
😭
Now Ms.Nancy Wilson has left us ..😭
@@ajsassy788 I feel that way about Nancy and Aretha.
And now ms nancy
sugar girl yes I know how you feel I miss him too Al Jarreau was the dude!!! saw him in concert Lizz Wright opened up for him she was nice also
It's so wonderful that she lived a long life....and still had that voice!!!!
Ella was (is) beautiful inside and out - and what an epic concentration of talent on that stage!
This is why I LOVE RUclips! All 3 of them are gone now but we can all have the opportunity to see great performances and moments like this over and over and over again!
RIP Nancy Wilson 12/14/2018
I will never forget a comment from her i read many years ago. She was asked her age and she freely gave it. When asked why she freely gave it when many are resistant to give their age, she replied, " I've Earned These Years ". Man, that comment has stayed with me since. Rest in Peace, Ms. Nancy Wilson, you have truly earned it.
@@ShadowHawk4219 And stars today, it's like PULLING TEETH to get their age! #RIP AL & Nancy!
Nancy worshiper here. Since 1961. Al has a voice of an angel. Miss Ella the Queen. An embarrassment of riches!
What a beautiful gift Ella Fitzgerald was....WOW
Ella started out at a young age at my Grandfather`s Jazz lounge in Boston. It was called Eddie Levine`s Lounge. Also the High Hat Restaurant in Boston. I was about 6 years old when I had dinner with Ella!
I thought that Ella had started out in Harlem clubs? Did she PERHAPS first tour the Boston area at your grandfather's place? What year/s? Oldtime friends/co-workers of mine saw her the first week or so that she sang with Chick Webb at the Savoy in Harlem..think that was . early 1937. By January 1938 Ella, I believe, was already doing some singing with Benny Goodman. (snippets of long ago conversations)
Cool!
Wow i would love to talk with you...seriously GOD Bless you to have had the honor to sit with legends
Dana Cohen GOD HAS BLESSED U.
Lincoln Hare 🚖🧩
Who could say anything negative about this woman? Ella is the QUEEN!!!
!m proud to say im 21 and crying
I cried too b/c Ms. Ella was the greatest. Even before the camera showed Whitney, I thought of her and said that she should be here still. Just like Ella, it would have been great if we could have seen Whitney in her later years singing beautifully still. For all those reasons, I cried.
+Joy Harrison I agree with you 100% Joy, This was absolutely amazing!
Derrick Phelps I watched it again and got emotional again. I love Ella, the First Lady of Song.
I cried too. Ella was my mom's favorite singer, and she became one of my favorites too. I was amazed how Ella voice's was as strong and often stronger in second half of her career, and I often thought that Whitney with her rare talent and super strong voice would follow Ella in that regard.
When Whitney had her difficulties, I kind of mourned the partial loss of her voice skills and said I wish she would be more like Ella. I selfishly wanted her world-topping voice / talent to go on for another twenty years.
Now I feel sort of terrible that I was rooting more for her voice and stage presence and not as much for Whitney the person. I am so sorry she did not have more happiness. My roommate who had bought everything she ever did, was defending her even in her more difficult times.
He said her voice will return, and that no singer could ever keep their voice in top shape as they got older anyway. I always brought up Ella and her fabulous voice as she aged. He, the silly guy did not seem to know much beyond Motown, Pop, Disco and dance, and would say "Who is Ella?"" Then I'd have to remind him of the variety shows she often guest-starred in the 60's and 70's when we were kids, and sing A-Tisket, A-Tasket.
My roommate never gave up on Whitney, always talked about the 12 steps and said she could recover. He would say, " I hope she makes it" I would think; Oh she will be alright, she has the resources to get help, and kind of be judging her for messing up her gift.
Now all I do when I think of Whitney is pray that she is happy and miss her, not so much her greatness, but she herself, that beautiful soul and spunky, sparkly girl / lady / woman. And ache for her daughter.
I will always love both Ella and Whitney.
Me too baby. Aww
This was me and my grandfather's song. I remember so clearly this memory. My grandfather and I were on the porch and I was sitting on the bench with my grandfather with the laptop. I pulled up this song just to listen to it and my grandfather told me "You are the sunshine of my life". I miss my grandfather so much. He passed away at 1:30 p.m. today. I miss him so much. R.I.P Papa I love you forever. You are the sunshine of my life. Forever and Always.
Folks! I heard this LADY! In 1956 (in Oslo,Norway) with JATP (Jazz At The Philarmonic) She's GREAT!
YES NANCY!!!!! 1:37-1:59! She sings with such sass! Love her!
Rachel Jordan I’m watching this, today, on December 14, 2018 and Nancy Wilson’s passing has just been announced. She will be missed. February 20, 1937 - December 13, 2018
R.I.P. Al Jarreau...
Thank you for amazing singing and swing.
sabuchan hakodate o
Now that ladies and gentlemen is an entertainer. She moved me, I got goose bumps. Truly amazing performance.
Ella seemed like she had such a sweet spirit. I wish I could've met her ❤.
Ella sounded so good there. I just closed my eyes and it was like I was listening to her when she was still in her prime years. Oh I just love Ella's music and performances.
I’m grinning watching all those mega stars watching Ella like kids in a candy shop. Knowing how lucky they are to be in her presence for just one song and the reverence exuding from them is so touching! Especially from Al Jarreau and Nancy Wilson masters of masters themselves! Man! And to think I had the same experience for even 3 songs, when in Ella’s Devine presence ( coz I think people like her and Piaf and Louis are Demi-gods) one feels like touches by an angel and traveling light years in a moment! Sounds corny but it’s the best way I can describe how life altering a song can be, from a Giant!
Amazing! the quick shot of Whitney made me smile. RIP QUEENS AND KINGS
Ella has warmed hearts of many for a very very long time and will continue to do so for a very long time. True lady of Jazz!!!
Rest in heavenly Peace.
Nancy Wilson !!!
Just imagine the reunion of these class A stars are having!!

Wow! What a treat! Beautiful singing by the mother of scat-hum herself!!!!!! The outstanding, honorable, and amazing Ella Fitzgerald!!!!! [because of the date of this event, there are also many great ones in the audience like Esther Rolle aka Florida Evans from "Good Times", may she Rest In Peace as well].
that was amazing Ms Ella!!
There is only one Ella!! Poor thing, she was old and frail and they had to help her walk to the stage, but boy oh boy, she could still SING!! RIP and thank you for the legacy!
Wow! What a treat. Al Jarreau and Nancy Wilson are the perfect singers to give tribute to ALLA FITZGERALD, THE STYLIST. RIP Ms. Fitzgerald, and Al Jarreau.

“With all of the talents out here. Aren’t you proud of them; I am”. 😭😭😭😭😭
So generous and kind from her to say it.
She was the greatest and still had humility for the others.
She was and is still a gift.
Wow! What a beautiful voice and lady.
@6:23 Esther Role looking Gorgeous!
The Queen of Jazz....Ms.Ella Fitzgerald!...Nobody does it better!...Even n her old age,She was a MEGA BEAST!...Truly AMAZING...Christ gave a wonderful gift to music ...especially when He gave us Ms.Fitzgerald!..Nancy Wilson and Al Jarreau did a lovely job!

You're gone Ella's but your Beautiful voice and music will forever be with us. Thank you for sharing your music with us my darling Lady
I can't live without this kind of music ! It's MAGIC !!
Makes me cry....
Very moved by this.
this is it...pure magic..real music
Artistry at its best, REST in PARADISE Ella, Nancy and Al
All are a master class. But I was raised that a "gem" can come from any age, but MOST DEFINITELY pay attention to a "young pearl that stays one til the end, because they gleam in different ways, NEVER throw it away".
Ella, WOW 😳😳...can barely see & walk, & hit notes, runs, & range with clarity that was sight to hear, and a sound to see. She sangs in COLORS of sound......A child fan of the early 70s that mom showed her younger child footage to.
Her and Sarah Vaughn are the '"once I start watching, that's the end of sleep for the night" sangers.
FULL POWER OF LOVE: The HUMAN DNA
Nancy Wilson was a terrific singer.....but there was only ONE......Ella Fitzgerald!
I've never heard miss Nancy sing before she was great I'm going to start listening to her now
Sannng, Ella! I loved when she showed us why we fell in love with her! :)
I gasped when I saw her and I had forgotten (for a minute) she is no longer here.
Nancy, Al, Ella, Whitney, Florida Evans (Esther Rolle)...all gone...rest in Heaven peace!
Wow! that was golden. Thanks for sharing
Black Excellence in Every Way!!! Rest in Power!
The best and purest of voices. Hard to believe she only had one octave
Grow up listening to her .never be a other Ella .That voice the one and only.

Love love loved it! One of my faces too
She was 71 at this time and could still belt out a note. After Ella everything else is all down hill.
LOVE is pouring out of my heart when I see this. LOVE.

Oh no, not Nancy... Alas.
My friend met her in an airport and gushed with love and admiration. After a while she sighed and said “Thank you, but it’s is the only thing I know how to do!”
Talent and Class!!!!! The likes of these artists, we will not see again!
Stuck with the crap of today.
What a true treasure. God bless.
So many of our stars are leaving us so fast RIP Nancy Wilson died 81
I saw Ella in Tallahassee Florida at Florida State University in 1985. Jazz is not my favorite musical genre, but I thought it was a good thing to see a legend. (Especially since I sat backstage and met her afterwards. I still have the autographed program from that night.
Thank you Ella, you're the sunshine in our lives. Thank you for fulfilling your call to touch the lives of many, and continue to do so. Who would have thought that with technology you'll always be around and forever stay in our hearts.
only ella can entertain all the greatest singers in the world.
Ella was 1st class. Wow!
All of my great African American jazz artists here...may they rest eternal peace with God.😇😇😇😇😇
