I was 19 when I first saw her perform live and followed her ever since. I loved Nancy Wilson yesterday, today, and always! Rest in Heaven queen. You touched endless souls.
I'll never forget how my heart sank when I heard Nancy had left us in December of 2018, I couldn't believe it! Nancy Wilson and Frank Sinatra had been part of my musical life as long as I could remember. What Nancy could do with a song, in her inimitable style, was nothing short of miraculous! She truly told a story in song when she sang, her own special way, and it morphed into my heart and soul. I don't think any other singer has made me feel my own depths as much as in Nancy's rendition of so many songs. A musician myself, I have great respect for other singers I love to listen to also, but none has touched my soul as deeply as when Nancy sings, it's so special. I'll always miss this lovely, classy lady, but I'm so glad we have her fabulous recordings to keep her in our hearts and minds -- always!
I grew up listening to Nancy Wilson . She was an amazing person. She was a friend of my moms and sang at one of the tributes for my mom when she passed. True class😊
"How glad I am". That song came out when I about 10 years old , and I fell in love with Nancy Wilson, have loved her talent ever since. Yes, she was elegant.
As a child my Parent belonged to The Columbia Record Club , and it was predestined they would choose “Hollywood My Way “ Nancy singing famous hit songs from from films , this record came in around 1963 a life long deep and lasting appreciation for Ms Wilson bloomed even in her passing has not waned . Always a dignified but still down to earth performer , the World was a better place because God gave us Nancy Wilson
That was so sweet. They were giving her her flowers that she so richly deserved. I have loved her music since I was a child and my oldest brother played her music in our house. Divine. For decades, imo, she had the most beautiful tone I'd ever heard.
R.I.P Nancy Wilson!! You have been such an inspiration to our family!! Back in the sixties my sister was a singer your catalog was always soaring through our house! My sister did emulate you and I even got in on it myself.. Cuz you are a Class Act a beautiful black woman!! Back in those days you were role model. I will continue to keep you in my 💝!!
She skillfully lead with her voice through the changes. Love this song, 'How Glad I Am'. And I love Nancy Wilson. Class ! Originality. Authenticity. Beauty. Grace.
I have seen and/or met many singers in my younger days one reason having once worked in Hollywood, CA BUT....I never was able to see Nancy Wilson in concert and "IF I COULD" there will be no way I would miss such a treasure. I love and idolize her and I'm sure she knows how many lives she has touched through her gift. God Bless her and Patton College for posting this video.
I loved this woman since I was 17 and I feel so lost without her. I am praying that if I get to heaven I will be able to meet her and give her the hug I have wanted to for years. I am now 76 and white which I don't think it matters. She was just the most beautiful and best singer ever. I miss you Nancy more than you will ever know.
I am so very IMPRESSED with my Favorite Jazz Vocalist, MISS NANCY WILSON's performance at this event. Dang! And she was about 74 then!! WOW! I hear that she has retired as of 2012, but I PRAY to God that I will have an opportunity catch her LIVE at an appearance of some sort soon. I became a fan late (as I began singing jazz in 2008 after singing R& B and show tunes for years). She tops my list of all time singers of ANY genre! I LOVE YOU, NANCY!!!! I will FOREVER follow in her footsteps!! God Bless you, my Lady!!
The gentlemen said it all so perfectly …. NANCY WILSON is one of THE Finest female vocalist ever … add that she is Beautiful and elegant and stunning in a class of her own . NANCY WILSON will be missed always . Thank you for your great gift of music excellence ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
She is and always will be one of the best singers I have ever heard. As a young child my mom played her records. I still love listening to her music. at 67 years.
Nancy Wilson is just superb! I've loved her voice since I can remember. She's always been beautiful. I've seen her perform at least 3 times, and enjoyed her tremendously!
I really find I miss her. Which is crazy, as we never met. She’s my favorite vocalist and I really find it a tragedy that she didn’t get even more recognition. She deserves to be up there with the Ella’s, Barbra’s, Aretha’s, etc… but I guess she was just so jazzy and way to sophisticated for the masses.
God blessed her with a incredible voice style then She blessed us with songs for decades. I was 15 when I first hear her voice and it was unmistakably "Nancy Wilson" Thank you and I thank God you were here. R.I.P. Lady.
How wonderful for you that you have a chart to tell you who to like and support the artistry of so you dont have to think on your own (I'm sure its better for the rest of us that you dont). Nancy Wilson is everything a woman wants to be and everything a lady has to be. Nancy Wilson is an artist, artist; Your favorite singer's favorite singer. 60 years of singing over 50 albums, and an instrument completely and uniquely her own, Elvis should be so lucky to even be mention in the same coversation.
I fell in love with her in my dorm room in 1967. I still love her. Her body is ageing here. She is seated which would not have been the case at a younger healthier time. At 72, my body has begun to give in too. RIP MS Nancy Wilson!
Only my boy Michael could put together such a precise description like that for Nancy. I love Nancy Wilson. I'm so thankful to have been blessed by her talent and spirit. That looks like James Hankins, my brother-in-law playing the bass.
How glad I am for your talent, kindness and generosity. Will never forget your recording my songs “Deeper” and “I Never Held Your Heart” on your 50th album. One of a kind, unique. A trailblazer for all of us to follow. ❤️
I had the honor of seeing her at the Westchester Premier Theatre in NY. She was outstanding. Very pleasant with the audience. She lacked nothing. Beauty unmatched voice intelligent and great style. Just gorgeous. An absolute delight.
I have heard many tributes to great artists, but none as eloquent and spot on as Eric Dysons tribute to Nancy Wilson. Watching her she reminds me that Queens are born and not made, that charisma and class, like skin, can never be erased, and how remarkable that her honeyed voice still has that ability to be strong and vulnerable with that unmistakable breathy sob. This might sound strange but I know what I mean when I describe Nancy Wilson as the "Mrs Robinson" of any genre she chooses.
Although I know your God given song stylings have returned to the angels with your spirit. I am so blessed to have grown up listening to you because of my family's musical tastes. That foundation lead to me to sit solo at an intimate concert you gave in SF. I'm blessed you were here. Your gifts have touched so many all over the world and you made us, black people, swell with pride because of the way you lived and your generosity in supporting our struggles for equality. May your family and friends find comfort in all that you gave. Thank you Ms.Nanacy Wilson D. Dickson Dallas,TX.
Class class class class c classic beautiful she is a dying art of how women of color old school carry them self with Elegance Regal and class if only it was still alive and well today
Lovely comment Vanessa. Neen a favourite of mine since my long lost youth. She was beautiful and so talented. An all-time greatest of the greats. This performance was indicative of her talent. So sad when I heard of her passing last December (2018).
Wow.... Of all the greats I think Nancy's voice lasted the longest. This seems so effortless and there are no obvious weak points in her range. And she looks good for her age. Love her!
Totally agree. Lots of greats have lost their voices. Even Tina Turner once said that when she did her last tour before retiring, she was mad because she couldn't hit some of her notes. Lol. I'm mad I never listened to Nancy much growing up. I knew she could sing, but I've just started getting into her. She's truly a gem.
...don't know if she 'officially' retired...all i know is that ms. wilson has given all of us something...even if it was one note...and that's all she needed to do....Ms. Wilson, you are a true Queen.....
My uncle Rusty Bryant gave Ms Wilson her start back in the day. She and my mother sang with his orchestra a lot before his career got started. My mother was Barbara McCarroll. He once told the story of Ms Wilson wanting to go with his band to California, but there wasn’t any room in the van with all of the equipment. She was upset. About half way through the trip they kept hearing noises in the back of the van. He pulled over to see what it was and discovered that Nancy had hid behind the drums. So they had to take her with them. The rest is history.
We saw her at Blues Alley. The most marvelous experience. Jill Scott took many performance cues from this ledgend. She put the mic down at her side and her it still caught her voice strong and proud. No opening act. Just 3 hrs with Nancy an arm's length away. 😊
She’s so real in her approach to music, but she goes where she pleases-the better to reveal a magic with her perfect diction, endless colors, and spirituality borne of a perfect faith in the Almighty. Rest in peace You gorgeous creature!
Artist love to share their gifts and talents...They stop when they want to...because they're tired.....If Nancy wants to stop...thats it...she WANTS to stop! People that continue to perform...BLESS THEM!!!! They CAN!!!
At 74 she could have chosen a much easier song, but this was a performance fighting with guts, grace and humility against the inevitability of age-and ended up showing the young ones how its done- and some!. How magnificent was this!
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???? AT AGE 74, SHE SOUNDED FANTASTIC!!!! SHE SOUNDED JUST AS SHE DID WHEN SHE MADE THIS RECORD!!! HOW OLD ARE YOU CHILD?? DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT NANCY WILSON'S REPERTOIRE?????
Anyone who has followed her career knows that she selected material SHE wanted to sing..this performance was extraordinary in her ability to still be able to express the depth of the song. Lyricist express the lyrics and that's what she did.. breathtakingly so .
Also, the rating system is completely different now then when she started. There are many TRULY talented legends who have never gotten proper recognition. Perfect example is Diana Ross, to date she has never received a Grammy. Lastly, did you know that many of the African American artists that inspired Elvis' sound and style never had #1's either, not due to a lack of talent, but with segregation and all, Elvis was more marketable. She looked beautiful and sounded amazing, even at 74! Sad we lost her 3 years ago
That was so sweet. They were giving her her flowers that she so richly deserved. I have loved her music since I was a child and my oldest brother played her music in our house. Divine. For decades, imo, she had the most beautiful tone I'd ever heard.
At 74, the class, grace and silky voice is her legend. I wish younger singers today had her style. This is how you age with time!
RIP, what a beautiful Voice

Nancy Wilson was an Awesome Lady. Her and Diane were Two Powerhouses of their time.

She sounds great here. Too many critics.
This must have been one of her very last public appearances as a singer. RIP Nancy
