Ella's voice can make me happier when I am already happy and sadder when I am already gloomy. Magical.
She seemed to have a real humility in her performances. No gimmicks. Just incredible talent and a sweet personality that comes across as innocent. I wish I could have seen her live in concert.
Seeing her at The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco 1972 while on liberty USN was my first concert experience. Earnie Heckscher was the conductor of the house orchestra.
Me too! Friends said the amazing thing she does is briefly acknowledge the audience but just goes song to song without effort, and everyone is on a journey with her. I think she was the best. No one wrote better horn parts with their voice.
Love it when Ella swings and starts clicking her fingers. I live in Melbourne ( still not born that night alas ) so thanks for shoutout in MTK Ella!
A pure angel of a person. She suffered so much growing up, an orphan, homeless and abused. How she transcended all that is s miracle. So humble and pure. Where are our angels nowadays?...
they are all around you !....

she was coming to this earth to enjoy us.....😍🥺
no one transcends their abusive childhood...they may learn to cope...but it is always there....especially when you are alone...especially when the rest of the world is asleep.....

Thank you so much 🖤
What a great time you could probably enjoy a good cigar during the show
I always felt like Ella was the best example of a singer whose voice was like a musical instrument that she had complete control over... does that make sense?
Yes absolutely
Yes. Ella & Sarah Vaughan.
Yep. Every time.
Yes, you are on point with your comments, Ms. Ella had excellent control of her breathing, tone, pitch and timing. We really could use a large booster dose of Ms.Ella's magical, divine elequance for curing whatever is causing strife, pain, sadness or Just having a bummer of a day. 😊😅🎉🎉❤
Yes. Its like an instrument always readily accessible to her
What can you say, Ella was simply the best female vocalist ever!! Her tone, versatility, scat, and range is amazing. She always seems to be enjoying herself when she is on stage. And the bands that played with her were incredible. Everybody who was anyone wanted to play with Ella. The BEST, where are singers like that today??
I would love to see a biopic of Ella. She has an incredible history.
There is a 90 minute biopic on American Masters "Ella Fitzgerald - Something to Live For" narrated by Tony Bennett which talks about her life and shows some in concert material.
Documentaries only, please
This makes most of the pop music of today sound pathetic. No auto tune or special effects, just raw talent.
how elitist
@@eliakselrod4655 ..but true.
Ella was a unique woman, with a voice that there would never be another. She never was concerned or impressed by her voice, she just sang. That was Ella, she just sang. With no predisposition or over involvement of herself. She was just Ella in her mind. She sang because that was her passion and she was good at it. Her voice never went to her head.
She will forever be my favorite. I have many autographs and memorabilia of her. She was an angel and I wish I could have met her. RIP to a beautiful soul
The phrasing is shockingly real...every single word.
thank you so much!!!😭🤧🧎🏻♀️✨💖
This is our dear and much loved Ella Fitzgerald: the best singer in the world.
Ella was and will always be the lady of song. To discredit others is a lose for us all.
Each generation brings its own interpenetration of what is talent.
There's nothing new under the sun so why not just enjoy what you enjoy but find the beauty in it all🥰
The crowd is listening to the greatest voice of the twentieth century in an intimate setting and they're sitting on their hands.
Yeah it's pretty polite applause isn't it! And surely she was already a huge star by then...?
The greatest vocalist of all time.
September 2022 - Here for no one else but Ella. That voice surpasses time.
Ella's singing is so beautiful and amazing it's almost painful. There is so much truth in Ella's singing, musicianship, creativity, joy, sentimentality, poigantcy. My mind is blown away everytime I listen to Ella singing. It's like going to a museum of art, it is hard to look at everthing at one time. A break is necessary to process the beauty and a return trip is necssary.
IMO Ella is and was the best vocalists ever. She had class she had style she had enormous Talent! Thanks for the upload
Wow.... Mesmerizing pure talent! She has the sweetest tone, and best vibrato of anyone! Love her. 😍 And what a sweet humble woman as well...what an absolute treat and joy to listen to.
Ah, when musicians actually studied and practiced their instruments... thank you for sharing this!
The way she can just swap between and major and minor in "Anything Goes" is just amazing
Yeah never heard that done before :)
How the hell doesn't this have millions of views? Instead it's Pewdiepie all over the place. I have nothing against Pewdiepie or other RUclips celebs. Many of them are talented and work incredibly hard, too. But seriously, this is a true maestra performing live at a time when you couldn't fake talent and hard work via autotune and all kinds of bs. And two people have watched this amazing footage.
Olli Vanajas last days testimonials my account
IM WITH U BROTHER
SIMPLY THE BEST!
Olli Vanajas my immediate thought too!
I'm here. Watching love Miss Ella and that 60s band. Good stuff.
why cant ppl just enjoy the music isntead of comments like "when music was real music" "why doesn't this have a billion views" etc
there's a myriad of reasons ppl watch and are into cultural stuff that aren't up to your standards , some of it is valid, and some of it sucks, but just enjoy it for yourself and be thankful that you see its value and that you're obviously not alone...
She had such a classy way of arriving on stage! WHAT A BEAUTY 😍💜
The most beautiful, the greatest and finer singer of all time! What a voice!! She reminds me of my mother!
Marcello Fernandes She and Sarah Vaughan
Stunning talent. Incomparable gift. Thank goodness she was here to sing her song. Thanks, Ella.
I just love Ella, she makes the darkest days bright ❤️
Wow. What an amazing time we live in to be able to watch this for FREE!! ❤️
I could listen to Ella morning noon and night. Just incredible.
Did she ever sing a note off key? Ella is a singing phenom. She had it all -- a beautiful voice and a supreme innate sense of musicality which was honed by decades working with the best in the business. Watching this video, it's easy to see why her contemporaries said Ella's voice was like a musical instrument. She could do anything with that voice -- her rendition of "Cheek to Cheek" @17:05 is jazzy masterpiece. Dear Ella!
Her scatting is out of this world 💝
i just found this fantastic gem. simply wonderful.
Linda! Linda! Linda! Brava! This is pure singing! No backing vocals, no dancers to entertain you, no overdone stage production, nothing!.. Just a purely raw talent!!!! She sounds exactly like on studio version. I do not know why this video has only 10,000 views...
I love the look of this old black and white recording. Some of the wide shots of Ella and the band look like a beautiful painting brought to life.
As a huge Marilyn Monroe fan, found their unique friendship intriguing... now I see why MM adored Mrs. Fitzgerald!
Saw her at the Hollywood bowl, in the morning brought my children, 3and 5 to the top, Ella invited them to the stage, then taught them Doo waap, musical instruments, that morning practice was so much better than the concert that night
❤
During its brief and glamorous existence, The Embers in Melbourne featured international stars, among the most notable being Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson.
Flawless
Элла это самая лучшая джазовая певица, лучше неё не было, нет, и не будет! Всю свою жизнь с молодости и до старости обожаю её!
Ella best ever. What a joy to the ear .Perfect diction . What a great talent .
She sings with such ease - nothing forced. Ella Fitzgerald makes it look deceptively easy, that enviable talent that the greatest musicians have. This is the perfect antidote to a stressful day!
She's Simply One in a million......An Extraordinary Talent... Wow!👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Kenneth Bryant that’s far too cheap, she was one of a kind.
The USA stars always found time to come to Australia despite the long distance, love you 🇺🇸❤️🤗🇦🇺
SHE WILL ALWAYS BE THE GREATEST THANKS ELLA!!!!
I was lucky enough to see her live. One of the best music nights of my life. I read somewhere that all the composers said they liked her version of their songs best of all singers.
Signer her lungs out, amazingly gifted woman
What’s sad is that I can only give this video one like. Amazing!
She's so lovely and amazing damn 😭 i just can't get enough of her

A classic, I love hearing Ella play with a trio. She is both vocalist and instrumentalist !
piano, bass , drums, guitar
I found her song ''It's Only a Paper Moon'' and her voice must be the most beautiful one I've ever heard! Now I'm her to find out more of her music and performances :D
There are such brilliant women, which can be listen to endlessly long...
S'Wonderful. Somebody asked Dionne Warwick who was the greatest female singer and she didn't blink and said "Ella." I hear why.
wow
Thank you Fallout for introducing me to this angel 👼🏾❤️
oh how sweet she sings
What humility. So unlike today with all these so called women singers (icons) who produce all the videos of them wearing next to nothing and screaming at the top of their voices a lot of the time. I do know time moves on and things are different now, but a wonderful voice like Ellas stands the test of time and doesn’t need anything else to go with it. Probably going to get a lot of comments about, you should move with the times etc. I Don’t care, quality always shines through without any embellishments.
Wonderfull Ella !!! Simply unmatched forever!!
Ella Ella Ella 4 ever!!!💙💛💚🧡💜♥️
Why so little whatchings? It deserves millions!
I think the awful few minutes of intro might have been off putting I almost turned it off. But wonderful singing if one got over that stumbling block!
My people are genius, the best of the best!! You go Ella!
that was the year my dad born, so nostalgic
Amazing Ella the best... Ever.
People praise Mariah and Whitney all the time but they forget that Ella Fitzgerald and Karen Carpenter, for that matter, were the best raw talents ever walked the planet...and nobody talks about them... Mariah and Whitney all they do is yelling and screaming... What Ella does is singing and singing effortlessly.. Her voice is angelical.. One of a kind.. Love you Ella!!!!!
