I am 39. For the last 25 years I have been listening to Luciano Pavarotti almost every day. I think for the next 25 years I will do the same with Ella Fitzgerald.
For the next 39 😊 If you don’t know Shirley Horn, give her a listen to, absolutely incredible. And if you’re into great music, which you obviously are, check out Chris Rea if you don’t know him already.
I have listened to and watched 100s and 100s of hours of Ella’s performances, and I’ve never ever heard a bad note. Not once. She’s simply astonishingly amazingly unbelievable.
What a voices, what a lady. They’ll never be another. Feel honoured that I lived long enough to see and hear the greatest lady of song has and ever will be the First Lady of song. Look at the band when Ella is singing, they love her.
SARAH VAUGHAN ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ BOTH LADY SONGBIRD ELLA FITZGERALD AND THE DIVINE SASSIE SARAH VAUGHAN LIVE AND STUDIO PERFORMANCES SOUND THE SAME. BOTH WERE INCOMPARABLE FINE SINGERS.
Oh, she could sing! Most classical singers/operatic can as well, but for them the music never really varies but for Ella it did often. I’m sure some of the performances were shake & bake - especially jazz events with large combined ensembles or encore numbers.
It's been said many times, but there really is no one else in her class. Any young female singers who want to be great singers need so study Ella seriously.
She also worked hard at it since her teens. I got to see/hear her live only 1x in the early 90’s I northern CA. It was sad. She was performing in a wheelchair with 1 leg amputated. I guess her family really needed her to go out & perform.
"Ella" (elle l'a !) in French means She's got it! I really think that Duke's musicians are perfect for her level and this program is just pure pleasure, music to my hears. I will be looking for the vinyl of this one. Two geniuses of music, Ella and Duke Ellington.
During the applause at the very end, Jimmy Jones plays a lovely adaptation of Ellington's "Serenade to Sweden," written in tribute to the country for how they honored him on his 40th birthday during a performance tour.
superb drumming by Gus Johnson (former Count Basie drummer) supporting tne one and only miss Fitzgerald. When you hear today's music...... this was a golden period.
Miss ella fitzgerald, and sarah vaughan, 're the devs...their's generationals, also so talented, too i admired 'em also knew too leaved their's, situational, behinds
Greatest vocal live concert all time Ella with Duke Ellington orchestra 1966 nun of the boobs of today will acknowledge her they cant even if they have a good voice they dont have the talent
I bought the Pablo l.p. of this concert forty years ago and it is has always been one of my favourite Ella live recordings. How incredible to see the footage after so long - I had no idea it was a 'soundtrack album' of a video. The album has a lot of other tracks of Ella with Duke and the orchestra from this concert - Lover Man, Cottontail, Something To Live For amongst them, all outstanding performances sadly not preserved in this video. Thank you for posting this - it was like a dream to watch it.
AGREED This is SOME song! Say for fans especially of this song check out a bit better fidelity but with Ella and the Duke's band just laying it down. Agree with all the enthusiastic remarks - Only regret is I really REALLY wished she had done more songs in this vein and feel. For better fidelity: BTW for better fidelity but with the Duke and same song check out : Ella at Duke's Place
How to people find/access this footage? I'm so grateful that we have these clips. Is there an equivalent of the Library of Congress in European countries?
I was lucky to watch lovelly Ella live in Britain all those years ago. She is Queen forever.
I am 39. For the last 25 years I have been listening to Luciano Pavarotti almost every day. I think for the next 25 years I will do the same with Ella Fitzgerald.
Not a bad way to go through life!
For the next 39 😊 If you don’t know Shirley Horn, give her a listen to, absolutely incredible. And if you’re into great music, which you obviously are, check out Chris Rea if you don’t know him already.
Never will be another , loved her from when I was fifteen and now seventy seven, and love her still. God bless miss Ella.
Неперевершена в віках Королева Джазу !!!!🥰😎
She's still is and all ways will be the greatest ever!
I have listened to and watched 100s and 100s of hours of Ella’s performances, and I’ve never ever heard a bad note. Not once. She’s simply astonishingly amazingly unbelievable.
I’ve only ever heard 1 song where I ever heard ANY intonation issue & I’ve listened to 100’s of hers, too!!
E
The queen !!!!!! What a voice What a swing !
This should have a billion likes .
I was JUST thinking the same thing! I noticed it was just posted less than a year ago. Wonder how many other gems are tucked away!
It is true!
I fell in love the moment I heard her voice and have been every day ever since. A day doesn't go by without Ella.
What a voices, what a lady. They’ll never be another. Feel honoured that I lived long enough to see and hear the greatest lady of song has and ever will be the First Lady of song. Look at the band when Ella is singing, they love her.

A truly golden and timeless era in American music indeed.
It's been said many times, but there really is no one else in her class. Any young female singers who want to be great singers need so study Ella seriously.
Great Jimmy Jones playing piano and conducting the orchestra deserves much credit as well.
Drummer deserves as much applause!
Surely, one of the most wonderful singers of all times.
++Ana Paula Capeto Matos Sousa
The best of all, of all time, in the popular music field.
renaud chante comme une 4CV !
God kissed her!
She also worked hard at it since her teens. I got to see/hear her live only 1x in the early 90’s I northern CA. It was sad. She was performing in a wheelchair with 1 leg amputated. I guess her family really needed her to go out & perform.

barring axl rose
Ella looks so HAPPY here
She was obviously fit and well then, the illnesses that plagued her in the seventies were yet to come!
"Ella" (elle l'a !) in French means She's got it! I really think that Duke's musicians are perfect for her level and this program is just pure pleasure, music to my hears. I will be looking for the vinyl of this one. Two geniuses of music, Ella and Duke Ellington.
Superior force of nature. She has voice for many singers in need.
During the applause at the very end, Jimmy Jones plays a lovely adaptation of Ellington's "Serenade to Sweden," written in tribute to the country for how they honored him on his 40th birthday during a performance tour.
A lifetime dedicated to singing. I admire and respect all the skills of our Great Diva.
I was very touched especially at the end with so much applause. Imagine Ella's emotion!
Truly as great as it gets. Beyond brilliant.
Priceless from start to the very end! And at the end of the concert you can tell how much American musicians used to be respected In Europe.
in an Canadian interview she sad that she was respected so much more in Europe than in the USA
superb drumming by Gus Johnson (former Count Basie drummer) supporting tne one and only miss Fitzgerald. When you hear today's music...... this was a golden period.

Mieszkam w Polsce i jestem Polką, ale Tę Sambę kocham, tak jak byłabym Brazylijką❤️❤️ ❤️
Thank you very much. I saw her on tv growing up, I wish I could have seen her live.
In the age of WAP, it seems impossible that this was once our popular music.
It's unbelievable that we've traded this for Cardi 😢
One of the BEST singers ....!!!
NO Auto-Tune for this lady!!
Always the love, Ella.💗

She looks like she’s having so much fun 1:18
Let's see Taylor S or anyone else singing today try to top this set...I'm waiting...,❤❤❤
Tato paní je bezedný gejzír energie a nesmrtelné fantastické hudby.
(a nám kdysi tvrdili, že Vondráčková je prý zpěvačka - naprosto nesrovnatelné)
She is stillalive this time .?2022,,,
Это прекрасно. Из-за неё хочу стать джазовой певицей
How to people find/access this footage? I'm so grateful that we have these clips. Is there an equivalent of the Library of Congress in European countries?
In this case it's a TV airing that was videotaped, probably back in the early 1990s, as I was sent this by a collector around 1998 or 1999.
16:13❤
Trio members??!!
at least wait till she stops singing to push me ads 😔
I have no control over that, sadly. My account isn;t monetised.
Who is the conducting Piano Player??And the Bassist?
She has singing family too?
7:34
Is it Live or is it Memorex?
I put only Barbra Streisand above her as greatest voice in American pop music history. And even Barbra couldn't do what Ella did .
Yeah I put Babs under Ella
Dear The Vault, could you send me this concert in high quality, please?
There is no high quality. This is as good as it gets. It's from an X generation VHS that was passed around collectors in the 1990s.
Thank you for information. I meant if a 720p video is possible.
Could you colorize this concert😅
Omg…. 12:30 to 15:22 ❤❤❤❤❤
