    For everyone asking to hear this riff in a lower tuning, I redid it in drop F# on my 7 string!
    Also, there's now a "Proof that E standard is heavy" so go check that out too!

    I honestly love drop d more than any other tone. Coming from classic piano, Most of the time it isn’t about being heavy to me, it’s about the notes and tones.

    • @itsMEADOWS

      Absolutely. It's note choice and how the progression as a whole fits together. Although I must say I'm pretty partial to half-step down tuning on guitar. There's just something really nice about it.

      Same here. I think it's because it was written to sound good in drop D, not F#. The harmonics are rich and colourful and the note clarity is really present. Dropping it down to F# loses a lot of the colour and clarity of the harmonics and the fast notes in general also lose clarity, but it does become more thunderous. Interesting experiment nonetheless!

      100%. Tuning lower will never be a substitute for good writing.

      Standard D? As in whole step down?

    • @Durkhead
      @Durkhead Год назад

      @itsmeadows yes standard but a whole step down the low string will stay the same then play the same riffs it will sound heavier this why korn sounds heavier their in standard tuning same with first slipknot albums standard tuning is heavier than drop tuning

      It can be but you can't tell me that someone can make something heavier than Devourment - Obscene Majesty in regular old E standard we gotta be realistic here. Yes Ozzy and them guys were heavy but its not the same magnitude of heaviness
