just got done thank you so much. I was completely terrified when I realized I would have to take almost all of it apart to replace the LCD, but this video made it easy as can be. my switch is back to normal thanks to you! I'll make sure not to leave it anywhere near my little brother from now on thanks alot!
Is this a good starter project? I want to learn to do stuff like this but I haven’t done anything yet. My touch screen is cracked and I want to fix it but idk if I should trust myself or not.

Nintendo sure doesn't make this easy. I remember taking apart my PSP a lot because dust would find its way between the LCD screen and the glass on top. So I'd get little particles of dust blocking what I am seeing. It was a lot easier than taking apart a Switch. Kudos to you. Good video too.
Thank you for this! I was able to switch out the broken digitizer, and the screen out with ease. I had to disassemble it again the next day, because I forgot to take the films off of the digitizer 🙃🙃 but shoot, I did it in under an hour after remembering how to do it from this! Thanks again, you saved me literally $120 from having to have someone else repair this. Best $60 I spent in years for the kit, replacements and screen protector 🌟👏
I came here solely to see if I can power on the device without the heatsink attached (I only had to replace a digitizer) and thankfully I saw that I could. I saw other repair videos where they put it all back together without testing it first. Just an FYI, you don't have to remove the motherboard in order to replace the digitizer; I don't think you have to do that to replace the LCD either, as it's loose in there, but it's good practice for working on small tablets.
WAY more involved than it should be. I would recommend very few people try to do this on their own. I bought a replacement digitizer and after watching this I don't want to do it. Guess I should have watched the video completely before buying a replacement. Daughter will be disappointed, so I suppose I will have to try. This coming from a guy who has built computers and worked in IT for 25 years. I am too old for this...
Did you do it? It’s not as hard as the video makes out as the motherboard can stay in along with the heatsink and fan but while you’re in there it’s good practice to change the thermal paste.
I was traveling and my dumbass put the charger in the same backpack pocket as my switch and there was a deep and long scratch on the screen, thank you so much for this cause it’s not there anymore!
I got an idea. first, take off the back plate and disconnect and reconnect the battery. this will basically turn off the switch. second, turn it on. the LCD should in theory turn on, (the Nintendo logo), turn off for a second (starting up), turn back on, (menu), then eventually turn back off in 5 seconds. Same thing for plugging it in. If it just has a constant purple screen it could be a problem with the motherboard.
debating if i really wanna do this or not... my screen works fine but it's scratched to hell and back because it's second hand. ive replaced the digitizer on my switch lite before but do i realllllly wanna go through the trouble again 😫
weird question: should the digitizer work if not glued? Because i wanted to test it before glueing it and the touch screen doesnt seem to be working so i don't know if the new one is broken or it just needs to be very tight to the lcd screen to be working (and it isnt if not glued).' edit: it seems that sometimes it register the touch on the left side of the screen but its still not glued.

14:22 How do you make sure the digitizer is perfectly in line with the lcd before laying the digitizer down ? You need to center the lcd before, don't you ?
@@TheFixTech Thanks for your reply, that is crucial point for me as I watched so many tutos (you can believe me) and none is clear on this. Basically i am not gonna replace the lcd (so will not remove it from its place or touch his ribbon cable) but digitizer only. Is it necessary to turn on the console right after installation in order to verify they are well aligned ? Thank you so much
There is not much play for the lcd to move around so it will line up very easily. Also it is slightly more difficult to remove only the digitizer since the lcd is adhered to the digitizer via tape from Nintendo. It is possible but you may cause damage to the lcd so be very careful, slow and use low heat. Pay close attention to where the cable go through the frame.
@@TheFixTech Thank you, really appreciate that you answer. A great quality as a lot of youtuber do not even look at the comments. I hear that it sounds very easy which is definitely perfect new. Did you just use a credit card for example to push it a bit from the left, right, up, down ? Is there any tip i should be aware of ? Thanks again for great patience and support
It is not required, it is a gasket that helps keep the lcd away from the digitizer. Protects the lcd from cracked under hard pressure. It can be bought…

I had it working but then a few days later the screen got lines on it and then it went black, so I'm assuming the ribbon has worked itself out... Any tips or help would be appreciated
If you still have the clip, it can be worked back into place. If not you can try to use a small piece of scotch tape to hold the cable into place, other will have to solder a new connector.
I broke a piece of plastic off one of the covers that holds the cables. Now the cable is able to connect and be able to be held in place by the lever that the plastic has but now a section of where the plastic part covered shows the metal lines it once covered. The switch works fine and I haven't played with it long. So I wanted to know if there would be a long lasting effect because of the missing section of the plastic?
Well the ribbon cable will come out if you broke the little plastic clip off so try to tape it so it can’t move. As long as it works it will be ok but it if stops then check that cable first.
