So I just did this with no experience whatsoever and it worked perfectly! Can't recommend this tutorial enough. I used a hair dryer to heat the screen up a bit, it works fine if you don't have a heat mat/gun. Also, if the touch screen feature doesn't work right away, it's because your game reader isn't connected properly, I had to open my switch up twice again until I noticed that was the problem lol.
I need to replace the screen because it’s got deep scratches in the plastic, but I’m terrified to do it myself, but I am way too broke to go to someone to have them fix it.
@@beelbrother1648 that’s because the card reader, headphone, jack and touchscreen all share the same board. So that green chip that’s attached to the card, reader and the headphone jack also controls the touchscreen
Just have to give a big thank you for walking the whole way through. I fixed my kids’ switch screen and they’re ecstatic to be able to play it handheld again. Thank You!!
17:05 See the usb c port? Above it and towards the left and right corners of the switch front are the speaker holes. He just taped over them with those adhesive strips...
What do you think the cause of the digitizer lifting slightly on the right side is? This seems like a common issue. Is it just because the adhesive is warming up and not holding it in place as well?
Yes I bought my switch used from game x change and it was having issues and the digitizer was all scratched up so I sent it to Nintendo to get fixed but I noticed that the digitizer at the bottom right corner right by the home button started to left up and the right joycon would disconnect when in hand held mode and I had to push the button on the back of the joy con lift up and then push down to make it work again
I’m getting ready to change my lcd and digitizer, but some people say certain digitizer isn’t compatible with the HAC-001(-01) models, which I have. Does anyone know if the linked items are compatible?
@@rengstrom I ended up only replacing the LCD, but I did see some digitizers on amazing that were said to be compatible. My lcd was fine but you may have to take a gamble on the digitizer and return it if it doesn’t work
@@profixerr6275 the replacement lcd panel I got doesn't do that annoyingly, the panel itself is a bit smaller than the hole cutout so it has enough play to get quite skewed and off centre
The second for the game card reader was very unclear. I ended up stripping some of the black material on the actual cable trying to lift it, only to realize there's an even smaller tab above it. I just hope that I didn't ruin the reader because of this...
will you fix mine for me? ive tried three times and ruined the lcd ribbon cable connetion each time. let me know if i can send it to you and pay you what you would like for the repair. please advise, thank you.
Great video. Only thing that bothered me was not replacing the thermal compound on the heat sink being that was removed. Maybe not as important as a PC CPU i guess. Other than that, thanks to this tutorial it should be a snap.
I tried with the same double face tape Tesa brand and my screen started to opened and cant figure out if thres anything better to glue back the screen of my switch, if someone knows a better way to do so please let me know thanks!

could you elaborate on that bit about the card reader? how could that affect the screen?

Yes, this is true actually haha. I realized that after install and corrected it
The best tutorial imo
Really helpful I’m planning to replace the whole enclosure of my switch
23:13 - Thinking ‘oh crap it’s not working’ 😂 Great video, thanks!
😂😂this is true actually. Digitizer had a dead spot and had to be swapped
Great video, followed it and got my lcd changed!
Was trying to change the digitizer, pulled too hard and messed up the lcd on the corner.... dam lol thanks for the vid, ordered new lcd from ifixit
Great! Very informative.
Were did you get the work mat? looks very handy.
I like those little scissors looking thing ,what is it called ?
Is there an easier way for just an annoying triangular scratch?

Where do you get that tape?
Great tutorial
Out of curiosity how come you don't use rubber gloves when handling the screen? I have found on screens it eliminates a lot of hand oil issues.
How can I find the adhesive tape on eBay? I'm having a hard time finding it. Thank you
How is this ,,spray" called which you sprayed between the lcd and the digitizer
What width tesa tape did you use?
Don't u have to put thermal paste on the back plate????
On the switch, as long as you have the original still there it will be fine!
How can you find the right screen and digitizer replacement to buy?

Would this be better to replace the adhesive tape and would make my own stay down instead of it lifting up

@@kimberlygamez7132 I see, glad it worked out for you. I found a seller with the newer version of the digitizer so I'll give it a try, thanks. :)
How come you didn't need to align the lcd and digitizer?
It aligns itself since it’s inside of the housing
@@profixerr6275 the replacement lcd panel I got doesn't do that annoyingly, the panel itself is a bit smaller than the hole cutout so it has enough play to get quite skewed and off centre
What width of adhesive tape did you use?
36 yard roll 4mm tesa tape with glue card from amazon
Regular heating pad on high for 5-10 minutes worked to loosed up the adhesive for me
!! Glad I didn’t have to try the blow dryer lmaoo
Thank you for this, your instructions worked perfectly
How do you center the lcd?
It self centers by sitting in the recessed portion of the housing

What size are the two tapes you use? you don't comment thanks
Could I damage the console if I dont use a heat mat?

Would you put a new digitizer on my switch ?
really hoping there's a glass digitizer available to do this with 😭😭😭
I would love a real glass digitizer.
My power isn’t turning on
For a moment I was thinking why the hell Ukrainian president do switch screen replacement :/
