I am wondering, what happened on your thumb??? There's like a scratch wound there :((
Also, very amazing restoration ^^ I love everything about this channel, and the honesty and commentary within just makes it all the better, unlike other restoration videos that don't explain anything at all... Keep up the great work, and love all your projects by far!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Wow thank you so much! I feel seen 🥰
I wounded my thumb while experimenting with different adhesives, trying to remove a cap that had welded itself to the tube. 🤦‍♂️

@@RestorishOfficial that sounds painful, but I'm glad it was a minor wound!! Keep it up, and if I could compliment you, you're amazing at what you do, even if there are some mistakes here and there!!! It's all human, and you're just as supportive of others with such a great smile :D Can't wait to see what project comes next!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yeah It does seem like a car accident, now looking at those glass pieces found in the switch lite, they do look like the thick glass used in a car window, I just hope that whoever owned is still alive, it feels kinda weird using a device from someone who is no longer around, if that is the case.

No flak for me - loved the video and very satisfy it to watch. Doesn’t matter to me if half the machine had to be replaced, or if the end result is still beaten up - it’s working, has character and was fun to watch. Keep it up!

I've found with the usb-c ports on some of my devices, Plackers are great for cleaning them out without as much risk as a metal dental pick. I keep a few in my toolkits and in my car in case I have junk in my phone charging port, they might help you out in the future as well!

I use these too, and yep they work pretty good for cleaning out ports. I use plackers, toothbrushes, and a conservative amount of isopropyl alcohol to clean out dirty USB-C, Lightning, and Micro USB ports. I used to use cotton swabs too but have stopped doing that as it is too easy for the cotton fibers to come off inside the ports and leave more foreign matter to clean out.

I really enjoyed this rebirth for this switch console. You brought this console back from the dead. I think the scratches and cracks give it some charm. It brings back memories of my older brothers hand me down Gameboy that i was given. The Gameboy was a little sun bleached, the screen was scratched it didn't always play games right away and the piece of plastic thar holds the battery in place was replaced with some clear packing tape. That old busted and dusty Gameboy created so many childhood memories for me. The first game on any console I ever beat was links awakening. Mario bros 6 golden coins was a console quality Mario game in the palm of my hands and Pokémon yellow had me hooked for a full year. Just because it's old and beat up doesn't mean it's trash. You've earned a sub my dude keep up the good work 👍

I think the condition of the screen, thumb sticks, and buttons matter the most as far as functionality, so with the parts you replaced I think a lot of people would still be happy to use this switch if they don't have the means to get one that's new or lightly used. Nice job!

That reminds me of my beaten up blue Nintendo DSi. I have several DS consoles as it was my fave handheld console from Nintendo (and so easy to pirate even in its heyday thanks to flashcarts), but this particular one I picked up from a thrifstore a couple years ago for equivalent of 3 bucks. It had DSTWO flashcart inside, which was THE flashcart to get back in the day (acecard being the other one). I ended up playing it quite a lot, cause the screens and hinge were in good condition and I don't have to worry about damaging it, since the case is full of scuffs already.

  • @colinboneham7387

I’m amazed that the switch worked after the incident that lead it too you, imo who cares if it’s repair or replace, and the switch has a story to tell and the cosmetic damage is a part of that story so why the hell not.

Someone sold an Animal Crossing edition Switch Lite, which came with what appeared to be a 128GB Mario mushroom microSD card. However, there were no games on the console-not even Animal Crossing. Did you wipe it, or was it already wiped when you got it? Personally, if I were wiping it to remove my island, I would’ve taken the microSD card out as well. I was hoping for some kind of story behind it, maybe even the chance to recover someone's lost island, but was a little disappointed to find it completely empty.

I have wrecked a screen before with using too much IPA on my first Switch battery removal. Honestly, and this is totally NOT recommended, my favorite method is with much much less IPA....and a rounded metal spudger with ALOT of finesse. Theres really no easy way to remove these things so do whatever you feel comfortable with.

Nice work! 👍 I havent worked with a Switch Lite as of yet, but I do have some experience with phones & tablets with glued-in batteries. 91% iso and carefully using a heat gun have always worked for me to remove batteries. This looks like it is a bit harder to do though. I was thinking that if the iso and heat doesnt do the trick well enough, then maybe just loosen it enough to lift it on one side and maybe you could slide some fishing wire or dental floss, then slowly slide it back and forth until the battery is loose enough to easily come out.

Well you salvaged the main board, thats the important bit. Personally I would have swapped the shell; the crispness of the digitizer juxtaposed against the heavily damaged shell isn't to my taste but to each their own.
