    Our son is a new homeowner. He took delivery of his new zero turn mower yesterday and he asked me what I thought he should get for a trimmer. I have been using the 24V Kobalt for over a year and it's great. Light weight, powerful and honestly, as this gentleman illustrates, pretty simple to reload. I have other Kobalt hand tools also so there are enough batteries and chargers around the place to keep everything in freshly charged batteries. I have a big Stihl Combi unit also but now defer to this machine . It just works great!

    For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

I went out and immediately replaced ours with no problem except for pushing the buttons on the side bc of arthritis but wonderfully easy after that. Thank you soo much. PERFECT for those with little hand strength- thank you!
    Just want to say big thank you for putting this up! I'm a divorce single mom of 2 who takes care of my own yard. Purchased the string trimmer a while ago and this was incredibly helpful in my being able to restring my Kobalt trimmer. It's an "Easy Wind" but I don't have the hand strength to turn the knob counter clockwise. It is so much more simple for me to use your method- done in seconds and hands aren't torn apart! Thank you!

    Update 8/15/2021: Yes, this works like a charm and the Ugly Line cuts my weeds better than the regular string that came with the Kobalt. Don't hesitate to try this. I'm delighted! 8-)

    GOOD VIDEO. TWO TIPS. WHEN LOOPING AND CRIMPING THE LINE, WHERE YOU START AT THE TWO ENDS, MAKE ONE END EITHER SHORTER OR LONGER THAN THE OTHER. THEN DO AS NORMAL WITH THE LOOP. BOTH SIDES SHOULD COME OUT EVEN. THE OTHER IS DO NOT BUMP THE LINE HOLDER ON THE CEMENT. DO IT ON THE GRASS AND IT WILL LAST LONGER. ONCE AGAIN, GOOD VIDEO.

    I bought one of these used from a local guy. He thought the separation between the blue button and the spool was a crack and that the spool was broken. I got a deal because of it. The trimmer was fine. He had the wrong size string in it (smaller diameter than recommended), but I think it will work. This was helpful. It's not very difficult.

      Thanks for replying.. I didn't expect that. Ive now subscribed to you.. Love how you teach and present. People tease me about being a RUclips Mechanic, because I work I work on my 2000 Ranger. Until the job is too big! Lol
      So..My brother in law..in WI.. (I'm in KY) .showed me how to use a blade on a Stihl. ..but I didn't watch him put it on. It helped save string with so many saplings. I was working in country few weeks ago,, husband came back with this 40v Kobalt he bought. I love Kobalt everything! I was amazed how easy to use.
      I told our daughter in PA about it, now she's getting one. Thanks to you, I can show her how to easily change the string when I go up there in June.
      I'll check out your your other uploads. Love your laid back way! Thanks again!

    Great video - One problem I have with a similar model KOBALT 40V is that in re--stringing the string overlap and the feed string gets stuck during use. I have to open it up and fix it. Other than that , it is a great tool. No electric line and no gas engine to screw up!.

      You might try a different style string if you haven’t already, and sometimes if you put less string in to start it helps. When you run against a post or chain link fence the string will wrap and pull tightly till it snaps meanwhile pulling the inner string together. When it just wares out from grass and other plants it shouldn’t do that often. Thanks for watching..!

    I’ve discovered with my kobalt 40v self propelled mower , a 4ah lasts 10 minutes tops, needs 6ah

    • @meanderingyogi6562
      @meanderingyogi6562  Месяц назад

      I’ve only used the 2.5 that came with the weed eater, and the 5.0 from the mower. My 2.5 would last 20 minutes at least. Sounds like the 4.0 is weak for some reason. I replaced a 5.0 with a 6.0 and wow it does make a difference. Thanks for watching..

    Nice video. Would you happen to know how/if you can remove the bottom spool housing so you can install a newer style string head feeder?

    • @meanderingyogi6562
      @meanderingyogi6562  2 года назад

      I've not tried to change the head, but I'm almost certain you can put different ones on it. Thanks for watching Steve..!

    I have a good supply of the next size up string left from my old gas string trimer. Could I possibly use it so as not to let it go to waste?

    • @meanderingyogi6562
      @meanderingyogi6562  Год назад +1

      Sometimes you can move to another size up, depending on the type of string. If it fits through the hole it’ll work, it won’t hold as much, and the bump string may get stuck.. best of luck and thanks for watching..!

    Once you have the line wound up and you are putting it in the weed eater do you pull the line out of the little notches before you push the top fully on?

    Can you use a bigger line than? 080

    • @meanderingyogi6562
      @meanderingyogi6562  3 месяца назад

      I believe you can go one size up, I’ve not tried it though. As long as it’s loose enough through the feed slots it’ll work, but you’ll have a less line fit in the hub. Best of luck, and thanks for watching..

You gave a very good audio description but, without being able to match up what you’re talking about to what I’m feeling on the end of mine I am lost in the sauce. Thanks anyway, I hit the like button just because I will have to save this video for my wife to look at
