As and American, and grandson of a Brit, all I can say is thank God for the UK - look at what you left the world - Canada, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand. All of these countries are absolutely considered top tier nations, and the places immigrants all seek to immigrate to. We haven't forgot our roots. Lots of love from the USA.
Thanks Captally. I just hope the world forgives us for this orange moron in the White House. We did not elect him- he lost by 3 million votes. The electoral college system is frankly a bit bizarre. But.... Trump is encountering massive resistance. I live 5 blocks from the clown. Anyway, cheers.
You make us proud to be British. The music, the marching, second to none. Absolutely beautiful. The hours of practice are worth it, you’re perfect, best in the world.
I have been in a marching Military Band of 1st Infantry Battalion South African Regiment back in 1980 to 1981 in the Orange Free State, Bloemfontein. But this the best I have ever seen, Excellent!!
I'm ex army and have to say that there is nothing just nothing that makes you feel as good as marching to good band music. If you feel it , makes you proud of your regiment, yourself and the company of your fellows. Still brings a tear to my elderly eyes.
The word of military excellence is standard performance for this group , tradition and glory has been consistent with these soldiers . God bless you !!!
When I was 5 or 6 yrs old we had a collection of 45 rpm records of British band music that I listened to over and over. I just love the sound and tradition of British band music. This really takes me back. Love it.
The UK has long been obsessively blessed with amazing military musiclal talent. It is so often so very difficult to even imagine one organization being "better" than another. Without bias, as a musician, this group consistently performs to standards so far above superior that I am left just simply, as you Brits would say, gobsmacked. God, what a group this is. Thank you so much for your service to your country, your Queen, and your fellow citizens. You simply make my soul soar with joy and pride. As a Drum Major of long ago, I simply could not imagine how this one has gotten better. It has. It is. Go, Drum Corps! :)
In my time as a drummer/drum major in the Sea Cadet Corps, I've had the privilege of marching on this very parade square and alongside, what is in my opinion, the best military band in the world. Getting tickets to see the Beating Retreat this year and can't wait. BZ Royal.
Splendid, just splendid. The RM Bands are unique in style and drill to their Army/Air Force counterparts. They may not be many in number, but they are mighty in sound and spectacle.
I live in the town where The Royal Marine School Of Music used to be, my dad was also a Bandie I do miss hearing them practice every day and yes they are the best military band in the world
AMAZING> And the drummers playing those bugles are just that. Just An All Around Wonderful Demonstration of Skill, Dedication to Excellence and Professionalism. I played french horn, alto horn, trumpet, ect. in high school and the bugle is not easy without those valves ! - My grandchildren are fortunate enough to have a tutor who is a U.S.M.C. (Ret.) Band Musician. He play's 6 instruments with professional excellence and has exceptionally proficient skill with just about every wind instrument known to Orchestra and Band.
Saved on New Years Eve 2016 to a very special file entitled "Spiritual Sky" I overheard a comment :- "LOVELY ISN'T IT." ... that is the "P" in both "PERFECTION" & Justifiable "PRIDE" ... We are all so proud of you! that's for sure! WISHING YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
My dad was a Marine boy bandsman, I rebelled and did 17 years in the RAF. Can't beat the the marines, best Military band in the world when marching at drill. Trust me, I once marched to a cadet band, it was shocking.
Pardon my lack of military routines, but am I correct that retreat is every evening, not in battle? They DON'T retreat in battle, correct? The white hats and gloves plus the high swinging arms really look and sound sharp!
From the son of an ex Royal Marine Light Infantry (RMLI) marine, known as the Sticky Reds, whose dress uniform was red, can only state, the Royals standards are second to none. Per Mare Per Terram They and their brother Corps across the puddle, the US Marines, Semper Fidelis, are the finst in the world
Ian, you are wrong. English is not a tribe, and God does not make English men. People become Englishmen. Claiming that you are blessed because God made you English is rather ignorant.
The Royal Marines Band Service is the musical wing of the Royal Navy. It currently consists of five Bands plus a training wing the Royal Marines School of Music at HMS Nelson and its headquarters is at HMS Excellent, Whale Island, Portsmouth. i would say about 200 + can not find actual numbers
Here is a question I always wanted to ask. Why you guys that filming always focus on the band, and not the matching troops/soldiers that is behind or in front of the band
Beating Retreat is a military ceremony dating to 16th century England and was first used to recall nearby patrolling units to their castle. The recall was by way of drums and now incorporates the sunset ceremony, now drums and bugles are used. Incidentally Light Division sound retreat as they have bugle calls.
Beautifully choreographed and arranged. Alas, fast becoming like an Americanized half time football show, with all the glitzy Razz-Ma-Tazz, right down to the big screen. Just need a bunch flag bearers and baton twirlers to top it off!
The R. M. Bands have the best stick drill (for drumming) in the world. You'll notice the difference in pitch in the tension of the drums as well with Scottish pipe band drummers.

Thank you and don't overlook the fact that for most people in the Nations you mention, regardless of where you were born, this is your heritage too.

Can you imagine if the US was still part of the British Empire how we could have ruled the World,.??

Superb. The best of the best. As a former Royal Marine bandie I played this gig in the 1970s. Loved every minute of my time in the Corps.
I'm ex army and have to say that there is nothing just nothing that makes you feel as good as marching to good band music. If you feel it , makes you proud of your regiment, yourself and the company of your fellows. Still brings a tear to my elderly eyes.

Grade 8, was the best 5 years of my life.
Het. Is geweldig zo als die jongens spelen en marcheren prachtig gewoon .
It is more because British Grenadiers is actually one of their Regimental Marches from the Royal Marine Light Infantry if I remember correctly
In my time as a drummer/drum major in the Sea Cadet Corps, I've had the privilege of marching on this very parade square and alongside, what is in my opinion, the best military band in the world.

Lots and lots of practice every day to be able to do all these moves. A true treat to watch.
Splendid, just splendid. The RM Bands are unique in style and drill to their Army/Air Force counterparts. They may not be many in number, but they are mighty in sound and spectacle.
Thanks for the run. The best military band always!
I live in the town where The Royal Marine School Of Music used to be, my dad was also a Bandie I do miss hearing them practice every day and yes they are the best military band in the world
Amazing to see. Probably the best in the world. The Royal Marines Band.
Well, second best, maybe! There’s the U.S. Marine band doing Souza....
AMAZING> And the drummers playing those bugles are just that.
Just An All Around Wonderful Demonstration of Skill, Dedication to Excellence and Professionalism.

In fact they are called Buglers ..

What a great show, I enjoyed the marching and the entire program,
Atomic Clockwork! Perfection!
My dad was a Marine boy bandsman, I rebelled and did 17 years in the RAF.
Can't beat the the marines, best Military band in the world when marching at drill.
Trust me, I once marched to a cadet band, it was shocking.
Lead and the world follows..................
Simply the very best. Up the Marines!
yah
LumboJack: Gameplay and more!
In the US the Navy would say that and it wouldn't be a compliment.... ;D
Whatever they do they do perfectly. This is true of all the British military parades I've watched. I've watched many.
This sounds as good even not better watching it live well worth trying to get tickets to see it.
Personally I am a member of the IMMS (International Military Music Society) and so I go to see and hear the bands, so that is what I film
what a band it sure has timbre and it shows
So Beautiful,never see before.
the best sound in the solar system. The Royal Marines Band.

Formidable band.
This is awesome... Respect from Brazil
Pardon my lack of military routines, but am I correct that retreat is every evening, not in battle? They DON'T retreat in battle, correct? The white hats and gloves plus the high swinging arms really look and sound sharp!

Thank you so much for you answer. It is Mountbatten march. Beautiful march indeed.
IF THEY ARE PLAYING 'RETREAT' SHOULDNT IT BE A FRENCH BAND?
Whoa! :-)
How many musicians on parade this day?
The Royal Marines Band Service is the musical wing of the Royal Navy. It currently consists of five Bands plus a training wing the Royal Marines School of Music at HMS Nelson and its headquarters is at HMS Excellent, Whale Island, Portsmouth. i would say about 200 + can not find actual numbers
0.35 What the name of this march?
Songchat Khunudom, it's Gibraltar March
Here is a question I always wanted to ask. Why you guys that filming always focus on the band, and not the matching troops/soldiers that is behind or in front of the band
Interesting how the drummers, normally at the back of the band are in the front.
The drummers are called Buglers in the R. M. Band service..... but the configuration gives more 'oomphh' to the front.
It gives the civilians more to look at with the action of the drums so they can compare all instruments and it looks dammed good.
Can you tell me which name has the music please 10:37 is thanks
I believe it is Invictus
Wonderful
does anyone have the name of that first song please?
Gibraltar
thank you
1;33 song?
Now maybe I'm missing something here. As a Veteran of the U.S.M.C. why would the British Marines sound a retreat?
Beating Retreat is a military ceremony dating to 16th century England and was first used to recall nearby patrolling units to their castle. The recall was by way of drums and now incorporates the sunset ceremony, now drums and bugles are used. Incidentally Light Division sound retreat as they have bugle calls.
SUPER

Sorry no, google it
its clash of the dreadnoughts
Beautifully choreographed and arranged. Alas, fast becoming like an Americanized half time football show, with all the glitzy Razz-Ma-Tazz, right down to the big screen. Just need a bunch flag bearers and baton twirlers to top it off!
Scottish beats
Brill
Reminds me of Berlin in the 1930's. Weltmacht oder Niedergang.
prefer the Scots pipers myself when it comes to marching music
The R. M. Bands have the best stick drill (for drumming) in the world. You'll notice the difference in pitch in the tension of the drums as well with Scottish pipe band drummers.
