And the photographs were calling her fat (she had gained a heathy amount of weight after recovering from eating disorder) and she wrote this song about trying to hide her relationship with her boyfriend from the world and how it's immposible because her life is basically a wish bowl. Everyone sees it.
New Year’s Day was the step to the next era: “Lover”. To me the song represents that after all the noise in her life during that year, she found peace in love at the end
