Also !!!!!! this is just a fan theory, BUT: The 1 is from the perspective of August! "rosé flowing with your chosen family" = "August sipped away like a bottle of wine". And in cardigan, Betty clarifies James lost "the one", which is herself. So August would sing "it would've been fun if you would've been the one/it would've been sweet if it could've been me" because she wasn't the one for James. Also "You weren't mine to lose". "In my defense I have none for never leaving well enough alone" = August singing over and over "remember when i pulled up and said get in the car..."

I became a real swiftie this pandemic. I was a fan before but not a swiftie. The first time when i listened to mirrorball, i had the same reaction as well. But after she dropped evermore, i completely drowned in the swiftie pool and then i went back and listened mirrorball. Since then, i couldn't stop obsessing over the song.
Literally same 😂 I always loved her and knew every song, but I’ve become OBSESSED during the pandemic. Like I can’t consume enough Taylor Swift content.
SAME!! i was a huge fan before but i became truly obsessed and addicted to her music after folklore, and when evermore came out, it became therapy for me literally... now i can't go a day without listening to her, either old or new songs
I think the line "Hell was the journey but it brought me heaven" in invisible string explains how after lots of toxic relationships and criticism from the media, Taylor found Joe who is her one and who doesn't care about her 'reputation'.
Took me a while to get mirrorball too, but now it’s one of my favorites. If you watch the Folklore long pond studio film she goes pretty in depth about the song and how it’s about disco balls reflect and are cut into so many pieces and it’s how she views fame that she has to show every version of herself to please others
Same honestly, like I liked it when I first heard it but it wasn’t my favourite. However then watching the long pond studio film, it became one of my favourites since we got to hear the meaning of the song and Taylor’s perspective on it.
I really connected with mirrorball from the beginning and her explaining it on lps really confirmed how I felt while listening so I’m really glad she did that
Finally some respect for “this is me trying” and epiphany is literally the most underrated song on this album. People think it’s boring but it’s so so beautiful.
In long pond sessions, Taylor told that she wrote my tears ricochet on the concept of how usually in super hero movies the villian used to be hero's bestfriend and how they turn from best friends to enemies.
That’s okay if you didn’t connect to some of the songs yet. I didn’t connect at first either, but most of the songs that I didn’t like at first, They ended up being my favorites at certain moment.

It’s hard to find music reactors who have genuine reactions. It often feels like people try too hard to appease a fan base which translates poorly in their videos through overly dramatic reactions. But you’re one of the few taylor reactors I’ve found (alongside Ajay & Michael Beveraggi) who are open minded, actually lose themselves in the music, and give honest reviews without trying too hard or pretending to like something they don’t. You’ve just gained a new subscriber! ❤️
Taylor is just magical when it comes to lyrics and painting such a clear picture. I love when people actually pay attention and see that! In regards to cardigan, august, and betty I feel it's best to just listen to them all in a row. Once you've listened a few times you'll be able to hear the parallels. One example is in august's bridge it goes "remember when I pulled up and said get in the car" and in betty's bridge it goes "she said James get in lets drive" both those are talking about the same moment. Also august is about a summer love/fling (on his part.. she fell deeper) "but I can see us lost in the memory, august slipped away into a moment in time, cause you were never mine" and betty starts at the beginning of school and he says "would you trust me if I told you it was just a summer fling" and "those days turned into nights slept next to her but I dreamt of you all summer long" and that shows you that the girl from august (Augustine) knew he was never truly her's and that he was thinking of someone else and that was Betty. There's obviously more you'll catch and some between them and cardigan as well.
Explaination on the love triangle : We have three characters 'Betty' , 'James' and 'the other girl' Cardigan is from Betty's pov . It's about her reflecting back on her past and thinking about all the events that happened when she was younger . Betty is from James's pov . It's an apology because he cheated on betty with the other girl over the summer . August is from the other girl's pov . Originally we didn't have a name for her to symbolise that she's that forgotten girl in James's and Betty's story but in the long pond studio session Taylor revealed that she always thought that her name would be something like Augusta or Augustine . While her and James's relationship was only a summer thing to James ,she truly believed it could blossom into something more because she really did love him . Only to be disappointed in the end when James went back to Betty and she got left behind
If you want even more detailed explanations for the whole album you should watch Folklore: the long pond studio sessions on Disney plus, which she and the co writers explain each song individually!

The high school love triangle is made up of “Cardigan,” “August,” and “Betty.” Cardigan is written from the character Betty’s point of view about 20 years after the events of the song. She and James, the boy she’s singing about have gotten back together at this point (Taylor talked about it in the Long Pond Studio film on Disney+) and she’s reminiscing about that and how he makes her feel. August is written from the point of the girl who he had a summer fling with (her name is August according to Taylor) and how she honestly fell in love with him. I love that you actually take the time to check out the lyrics! A lot of people don't bother when doing reaction videos! Taylor is truly gifted when it comes to lyrics 💚
Thank you, Meg💛💛
“This is me trying” was my favorite song on the first listening and still is one of my favorites. So relatable
There is a documentary on Disney+ about the album and they play the songs, its not "live" live but better than nothing
living for the reaction to the beginning of exile because that was 100% my reaction the first time i heard it
mirrorball was a grower for me, i wasnt a huge fan of it at first but i like it a lot now
I dont care but mirrorball is my jam!!!!! ❤️ Favorite song on the album, i don't know it is so underrated, its a great song, reminds me of the cranberries
