    Wow, since I only socialize in RUclips, I hadn't heard Mia was missing. The crows were very determined to get her out of their territory, but she made it out of there injury free thank goodness. Who needs B footage, the story itself was riveting,lol. Everyone that came together to help really does give one faith, and Mia is now back where she belongs. Baby human is so adorable, she's going to be an early walker I bet. Thanks for sharing, be well!❤️👍

    I clicked on this video so fast! I'm not active on the other platforms, so I didn't even know she was missing. But boy am I glad you guys found her! I completely understand mummy human's reaction. The whole ordeal reminded me of when my Umbrella cockatoo flew away. I thought I lost him, was running around like crazy to find him. Turned out he was way up in a tree, yelling the Dutch equivalent of "nighty night". i think he said it to let me know he was up there, because he saw me running around. In the end I had to climb up the tree for about 10 metres and when he saw me coming he climbed down to me. So he never really wanted to fly away and knows who his family is. He just got startled by an unfamiliar object.

    So glad that Mia was found before you went home thinking she'd be roosting. Birds are so smart, and of course she went to her family's car. Keep this in mind if she gets lost again. My granddaughter lives across the country from me but we watch your videos together via tech and she is a bird girl! Your baby human is growing sp quickly! Have a much better time today.

    what about telemetry instead of GPS? it lets you detect in 3D, and not just in 2 D, so you can know where to check (high up into the threes, low into the bush or ground and so on). BirdTricks compare both technologies and shiw how telemetry is way better and last longer too.

    Maybe you should Airtag Mia with a clipped on Airtag when she goes flying. And if you think about birds or females in particular, the reason why Mia is quiet and watchful when she flies off, while Mikey is very loud and boisterous--- for a female to be loud and aggressive when you have a baby isn't conducive to staying alive or protecting your babies, whereas a for a male of almost any animal species, including birds and humans, being loud and aggressive usually works out because they aren't birthing and feeding the 'kids.'

  • @andream.464
    @andream.464 2 месяца назад

    I saw in the video that Mia doesn't vocalise when lost: I'm not a trainer, but I try to make things easier by teaching my 2 free flying macaws how to screech loudly when I call their names or whistle loudly. Depending on their character, some birds will reply all the time, other more reserved ones will reply only if they deem it safe or necessary to do so. All of this turns out to be extremely useful when they're lost.
    Once they know how to respond, they also enjoy to do the same thing to you: to screech to let you know they come home! Thanks to this I found out that one of my birds flies also in full darkness (my BG) and when sometimes she lands through the window at 10 pm in the summer or even at midnight, she circles the house screeching to announce proudly her arrival. She's not normal, I know! What she does is she enjoys the artificial illumination of a football school field and engages with the children playing there (scaring some of them) until they shut down the lights at around 10-11pm. Then she flies home, which is up the hill, 1km away. It's a suburban area, so there must be enough light for her to see something. The other bird (GW) would NEVER to something like that! I'm trying to avoid all this by showing up at the football camp at sunset. Problem is that now she waits for me on the floor of the parking lot, as if I were her driver! It's dangerous because a distracted car could easily run her over whilst manoeuvring! Every day a new problem lol!
    To teach them how to screech at command (or sort of) is quite easy: it's ideal to do it when they're chicks, but also as adults it works: every time you feed them, or when you come back home, or before you open their cages to set them free, you call their names and/or whistle loudly. At that point they associate the loud sound of their name, or loud whistling, with something exciting that involves your presence, so they screech back at you. Of course giving them a treat when they screech back works as a good reinforcement (but I have never done it lol).
    After a while they kind of stop replying to you when at home because they're too smart to scream loudly when you're right there, but in the open they sure will!
    I found out that neither of mine will reply if they're within 50m distance from me, because they assume I know where they are, so it can be frustrating some times, because you think they're lost, but they're right there, watching you, like Mia did with you.
    I'm able to whistle super-loudly and they have very fine ears so they can hear me from quite a distance and they reply so loudly that a human as well can hear them from far away. It's better than a GPS!
    They never reply when in the dark and they don't reply if they want to stay longer in the current location and they're safe (or terrorised, sometimes), or decided to spend the night outside home. But rest assured: if they're lost, they will instantly screech as loud as possible, when they hear you!

Conure he sleeps in the medicine cabinet.. watching your parrots basically free fly doesn’t that make you nervous that someday they might not fly back to you😢😢😢 that would be totally devastating just because they are trained very well. I would never never do that.

    Mia knew it was not her family's car. But she realized her humans would have a propensity to look at any car that strongly resembles the family's car.She has been with her humans when at times they have mistakenly approached a car that looked very much like the family's car, thinking it was the family's car, but it turned out not. She is very cognizant of her humans' thinking patterns,!

      @@Gunships. First. GPS and telemetry trackers for parrots are made to not interfere in flight and to not be harmfull for them. On the other hand, for new free flighters it will take a huge stress off of their chest if parrot fly off. BirdTricks support it a lot. Second. Mikey and Mia guys did put GPS on Mikey and made a story about it. I understand that not every bird will accept the technology but stop shitting on it like it was a torture device.
