    Have fun with your new machine Cheryl! SMD are excellent - I have used them before and have found that thread pack so useful. Rarely need to buy matching thread now.
    I also love your top. It only looks handmade in the nicest possible way - it is unique and well made using lovely quality fabric. Much nicer than RTW! I didn’t like when people would ask if I had made a garment myself thinking that it must look homemade until a friend told me that the only reason she asked was because she never saw any thing half as nice in the shops which I thought was a lovely compliment. Ever since I take much more pride in my handmade clothes and you should too as they are beautiful.

    I bought my machine from them too and received the additional bits, I can also highly recommend their aftercare service. I had an issue trying to do freehand machine embroidery, the chap I spoke to was really helpful and solved my problem. I would only buy a machine from them now, they are great!

    My 24 year old Pfaff Creative 1472 is still going strong!! Aside from the built in walking foot, the needle up/needle down feature is amazing. Lovely Machine !! I too can recommend 'Sewing machines Direct' ,I got my Frister Rossman Quilters Edition about 3 years ago as the price was really good and the 'Freebies were unbelievable' I got a 100 boxed set threads ,similar set scissors as yours, extra feet. I did have a hiccup with the machine but they collected it phoned me to go over the problem then delivered it back within a couple of days at no cost to me,there delivery is second to none,then I got my Brother Overlocker, I love my overlocker !! so yes 'Sewing Machines Direct' are one to go to and get a 10/10 from me.

    You should order Madam Sew which has 32 different presser feet and a bonus sewing foot gauge that you remove from your sewing machine and place the bonus one and you can use all the presser feet from Madam Sew. I have a Brother Project Runway $89 but cost $200 on a Black Saturday discount. Also, I can use the Madam Sew pressure feet regardless of installing the bonus pressure foot main tool. The Brother Project Runway will be a sewing machine for me until infiniti because of the 80 sew/quilt stitches, auto threader, non mobilizer control, 8 button hole designs and a lot more. If I need to upgrade in the future, I was looking at the Baby Lock which has a lazer to guide the sewer seam allowance and being able to quilt also.great video, Have fun sewing.

    Beautiful top 😀 the contrasting cuffs and band make it a special one of a kind. I'm a big fan of Pfaff! You'll love using it for years to come! And they were very generous with the freebies 😀 I had one for 26 years, the last time I took it in for service, the repair guy said he didn't want to see this machine again...this was way before we had internet access or ever heard of you tube,
    Years down the road , I realize it probably could have been fixed. I am currently working on a Janome. I don't hate it, but I miss my Pfaff. I appreciate your new segment discussing various fabric types. Have a great day!

    I have a Juki 1541 walking foot, one recommendation is to put a servo motor on your industrial machine. They are way easier to control and can sew very slow. And they are pretty cheap.

    • @StitchyBee

      adam cain thanks Adam, never thought of switching the motor 👍🏻

    • @adamcain4603
      @adamcain4603 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah servo motors are almost pretty much silent and we use them for sewing leather goods. Since they are the best for control. They run from $100 and up but the cheap ones work great the more expensive ones have inputs for needle positioning.

    Hi, my 25 year old Pfaff died yesterday. I took it in for service and they said it will only sew straight, no more design or backwards. So I thought let me see who on You Tube is talking about machines. I was so happy to see you have joined the team. I'm now doing my research for my next Pfaff. Loved watching you. I have subscribed. Here's a revelation - do you mean you were sewing knits for the longest time on your older straight stitch machine? How did you manage it? I am considering buying a new sewing machine myself in the not-too-distant future, specifically so I could sew knits and join the Tilly "Stretch" bandwagon. However, I'd love to hear how you managed for so long sewing knits on a straight-stitch. My machine is even older - manufactured in the year I was born - 1958!! Works very well, but am unsure what to do about knit fabrics, though I know people sewed them in the '50s and 60s. If you ever had advice on this subject, there are those of us out there who would welcome it. BTW: Congratulations on the success of your online fabric shop - looks lovely and ever- tempting!

      Kelley Spoerl thanks Kelley 🌷 Yep, I totally sewed everything on my old Singer, stretch fabrics and all. No idea about tips but it just really worked. Maybe I was lucky, but it’s just a case of having a go on scraps before you tackle your main garment. Enjoy 💐

      Well, maybe you are right - just give it a go and maybe it will work! O.K., I'll try it! hanks for the reply! Your example encourages me.

    I have had my Pfaff 7550 for 25 years. I love it. I wouldn’t own anything else. The IDT is the best feature for sure. I have only had it in the shop once in 25 years. Mine was built in Germany before the company was bought out. Hopefully they are still a quality machine. Im sure you will be happy with it!

    Just bought the Pfaff Ambition it's doing a great job on knit's. Don't really like the button hole feature on bulky fabrics like jean button holes. I've used jeans thread with the jeans needle and worked great. I think I need to readjust the tension on the bobbin because sometimes I find myself cranking the tension way up

    • @StitchyBee
      @StitchyBee  6 лет назад

      Bonnie Currens thanks Bonnie, that’s useful to know. Yes I had to increase the upper tension a lot to get stitches straight 👍🏻

    I have the Pfaff quilt expression 4.2. I wish I'd never bothered. Waste of £1400. It shakes when I sew fast and eats my fabric even with the addition of a straight stitch needle plate :( I'm saving for the Bernina 720QE at the moment but that's so expensive.I do hope you don't get these issues and get to love yours. I had my order from sewing machine direct. They are a brilliant company. I had loads of threads free with my machine and also my over locker

    I went the other way :) I have a basic Janome (which gets used for button holes only as I have an overlocker) but I bought a Juki 8700 straight stitch and a Juki DNU1541 compound walking foot - as I sew lots of leather bags.

    Fantastic customer service! I bought my Janome from a dealer, overpaid (much cheaper online for the same machine) and got a mediocre 'lesson' on how to use it as a selling point. I'm happy with the machine but have yet to see the benefit of buying from a dealer as opposed to online.

    I love your new machine. I’m thinking of replacing my machine but want to stay with Janome as have bought quite a lot of additional feet for it including a walking foot. That was a great offer for you. Do you mind me asking what size Linden you cut as the finished measurements seem large. Also do you lengthen it. A lot of people say the neck is very wide but yours looked great to me. 😃

    • @StitchyBee
      @StitchyBee  6 лет назад +1

      Ruth Lanwarne thanks Ruth 🌷 I cut a 12, no change to the length. The neck is wide on less stretchy fabric, but I leave it as is. Looks different depending on fabric choice 👍🏻

    Thanks for the velour talk. I have recently made the very easy vogue wrap dress in a gold crushed velvet / velour and did make the mistake of placing one of the pattern pieces upside down. It's not too big of a deal as I will make it the inside panel at the front.
    I did want to ask a question though, since cutting the fabric I have got gold flecks absolutely everywhere in the house and on my clothes that I wore while sewing it. I can't get rid of it. Any suggestions on how to minimise the fabric flecks?? Thanks :)

    Hi Cheryl, this is incredible, I am just researching this model with a view to purchase. I couldn't believe it when I saw your post! I am on the verge of choosing this one but have come across a review that says that there is no stop/start button and no speed control. Is that correct? No speed control would definitely be a deal breaker for me. Many thanks.
