Installed mine yesterday on 2023 S3 8Y Noticable difference in turbo spool and throttle response. Sound also way nicer and throatier. Thanks for the vid. I am happy I came along this! Great work!
Oh Paul...even the most simplest install you still manage to suffer and struggle... Even with opening a simple plastic packing from HD. Glorious to watch!! Laughed all morning. Thank you for this!!
Racing line is second to none. They make the best parts for our platform. Also, I very much appreciate all of the videos. They are incredibly helpful. Thank you
Nothing better than an install video with Paul! As always you made it more entertaining and even show the struggles that we all run into when doing our own projects.
After having my mk7 performance for a year in stock form, I’m ready to get a little extra out of it. I’m happy an intake gets you more than just better noises. 💪
The OEM+ look if these intakes is great, almost looks like a factory option. Also gotta say thanks to Mk7 Jeff for making all that testing available for free as I've really enjoyed reading through it all and thinking about what I want to do with my Alltrack.
Love the intake sound - much better than vanilla stock with the Soundaktor! Increased Hp and Torque nothing to sneer at either! Now do a soft tune comparison with the stock and aftermarket intake. That would be an interesting comparison as well. Cheers!
Wow, I was not expecting such a big boost from just an intake. This looks like a great mod in terms of aesthetics, sound, and performance! Hope I can win one 😁
I am from Australia. I used to have a golf... Now I have a 2007 bf mkii Falcon XR6 ute. It has a straight 6 cylinder 4.0 litre turbo charged engine. Installed an intake and could feel the difference with it. Had it dyno tuned and went from 202kw at the wheels to 208kw at the wheels just with the intake. The actual dyno tune is now 306 kw at the wheels 870nm of torque. Only mods are the intake and a cat back 3 inch exhaust. My favourite thing about it is the induction noise from the intake.
Love the Barra!! I had two fg xr6ts myself. I eventually got sick of noisy diffs etc so I went down the second had bmw route instead. Stock drivelines can handle 800hp and engines can make 650 on stock internals. All the tuning can be done using your smartphone. If you ever get rid of the barra give one a go 👍
Whenever I see a DAP video I immediately like! Thanks for putting these very informative videos together for us Paul! Really helps me work my mod decisions for my MK8.
Is this 8 running any type of piggyback tune? Most gains on an Intake and or exhaust are made with a tune. On a completely stock car? I doubt there would be much gain at all. I personally do not like the noises. I mean I did when I was 20 but not when I am 50. haha.
@@MrTheHillfolk also depends highly on the design of the aftermarket intake. If it literally replaces your airbox with a cone filter under the hood sucking hot air, you're more likely to LOSE power.

Didn't expect to see any gains, pleasantly surprised. Racingline makes quality stuff though. I've been running their cup kit on my 2 door MK7 for about a year now and it's been perfect.
I expected that, as MCM got moaned about the ECU needs to learn a new table for the AFR, was happy he suggested a 2nd run straight away. And yes that's pretty big!
Great video, as you say choose the cotton filter, I've owned both cotton and the foam, the foam fell apart in a big way over a couple years while following manufacturer's instructions for cleaning, DONT choose the foam option. Cotton has been faultless since
I just install a Leyo intake as well on a MK7 1.4TSI with a stage 1 Revo tune and I have to say it does make a slight difference especially on the mid to high range.
I have a 98 inline 5 turbo Volvo.. snabb makes a turbo inlet but there are no decent intakes. I bought some 3" spectre tubing. As I have a 3.25" maf for my larger turbo I needed a 3.25 to 3" coupler. My inlet as well being 3" required a coupler in 90°. So anyway I used a 3" straight section and mounted my 3" inlet spectre filter directly behind where the stock airbox attached to the air dam in the grill. Used a 3" accordion style duct work and ran it through the grill. I have no shield and the filter is still getting some inside under the hood air I'm sure. But since I have water methanol injection pre throttle body. That air might be warm feeding into the turbo, it's below ambient going into the engine. Even with a stock intercooler my iat combined with 93 octane + vp racing octanium achieved maximum brake torque which usually requires e85. Have a dw fuel pump and 80lbs dw injectors. A billet hybrid turbo. And made 350whp and 415ft lbs of torque on an almost 30 year old stock internals engine. And modified stock ECU with internal 3 bar map sensor, and repurposed rear O2 preheater wires powering my vvt cam solenoid. Also running full lambda control eliminating the stock narrowband O2 wiring the aem x series analog into my stock harness. Pretty amazing stuff from my tuner. He modifies the ECU himself adding a voltage step up to enter flash mode, and created an xdf parameter file to work in tunerpro. Even 2 step launch control, and flat foot shifting with an added clutch switch, as well as dual maps I can switch on the fly by pressing the gas pedal on key on no start. One map for 93 and one for the 93 + vp. Also set a flashing engine light if the knock sensor detects more then 2 knocks in a 1 second period. It can read up to 46 parameters at 25 samples per second.
My car was the tester for Injen and their intake. It’s a straight aluminum massive pipe but sounds incredible!! They dynoed and saw nice power improvement around the same you. But I like the look of the Racingline
