Every function of MK8 steering wheel works on MK7 (you need to have ACC). In order to use heated steerine wheel you need to replace slip ring to 5Q0953549D, which is MK7 part. Gateway firmware upgrade may be required on older MK7s.
Can you have the heated steering wheel from an MK8 in a MK7.5 without heated seats? I knew you could change the slip ring because the MK7 already had heated steering wheel in normal trims, meaning you would lose the GTI steering wheel but could use it with a MK7 heated non GTI steering wheel, but I don't know if you can have heated steering wheel without the heated seats though
I'm still a vw /audi owner but I haven't modded any of my cars for some time, thanks for the reminder of my good old days. Now every time I look at my daughters MK7 golf I'm going to want to swap something. Keep up the awesome work.
The cruise control probably doesn’t work because the buttons are specific to ACC. So, in theory if your MK7 had ACC, the CC might have worked. Good video none-the-less
@@vanishingpoint808 no, however theres no difference between acc and standard cruise mk8 wheels, its a just a matter of changing the coding in the steering wheel.
That was huge fun to watch. I had to laugh about the so called recall. They literally just take the cover off, throw it away as no replacement is available and will contact you once they have a solution. No one knows when that will be.
Holy cow so many comments. I will tell you when you were comparing sound systems. The mk8 has a setting, I can’t remember where, that will turn the Bluetooth volume up. So if you were using your phone or other media device. In my wife’s mk8 I was disappointed in the sound until I found this feature and it is definitely way more amazing than the way it came from the factory. Hope you see this and that it helps. Never knew my GTI has a sub in the back, checked it out since I’ve never paid attention to it and found out it wasn’t even plugged in, owned the car for two years now and never knew I was missing out on more bass
Regarding the steering wheel... I believe there were mk7.5 GTIs and mk7 GLIs that did have ACC, so I'm hoping those would be directly interchangeable with the mk8.

I sold my GTI for a new BRZ but still come here for the awesome content. Wish you were BRZ people because a lt of that content is about cat backs or how to squeeze 9.5" wheels under them.
Hello, I think I read on some forums it's necessary to enter 19-Gateway and activate the cruise control after you fit the Mk8 steering wheel and will work
I got random one for you. As far as I can tell the rear springs on the mk8 is the same as the mk7 clubsport S rear springs (I believe the front clubsport s springs are the same as the mk7 golf r). It would be great if you ever find yourself bored or curious to swap mk8 to the mk7 rear to see if it’ll stiffen the rear without raising it any (like rear golf r springs would do). You know, for all us weirdos who wanna keep stock height with like bilsteins B6s
As ppl probably already know you can swap intakes and suspension…. My AEM intake bolted up to my MK8 but the turbo inlet pipe is probably different…. And my coilovers and sway bar links also did too….
Some MK8 wheels might find their way onto MK7 and other VAG products? But why on earth would you swap other MK8 parts into a perfectly fine MK7? 3:40 Very interesting that they went back to a steel oilpan on the MK8.
Man, I got my fingers crossed so hard that they’re on the verge of breaking, for the hopes that a DAP shop opens down here in my area DFW, Tx 🤞🏼😬🤞🏼 I would kill to have such an awesome VAG specialty shop within driving distance to take my cars 😍😩
Nice video, just one small remark. To remove the Mk8 steering you should use the other 2 holes, much more easier as it applies directly on the iron that lock the airbag. At minute 6:15 you can see it perfectly.
should've probably tried the mk7 airbag in the mk8 first, cheaper to replace if I blew off I'd assume. Also, a tip from a technician. Disconnect the battery, Turn the vehicle on, plug everything in, then reconnect the battery. Don't know how well it'd work on push buttons where theres no technical ignition, but in the past that would prevent the need to be close to the steering wheel when power is initially sent so if there is a fault and sets the airbag off, you won't be injured
You should make a video pointing out the quality differences also ! Massive cost cuts in MK8 ... garbage car for 21K euros for Golf 1.0 TSI 110ps in Greece ...
Something I've had the displeasure of finding out myself: intakes meant for the gen 3 ea888 engine don't fit on the gen 4. If anybody wants a Revo intake kit for a gen 3 at a slight discount hit me up
15:58 do you think this could possibly be a difference between seats as well? I think maybe sitting in the back seats would be a better comparison, since you're closer to the subwoofer

I fitted the new mk8 steering wheel to my arteon 2018. I now have an EPC light on my dash and my normal cruise control (not ACC) is not setting the limit. My taps are getting registered for the cruise control buts not setting the limit and the cruise control icon has an exclamation mark on its top right. Please help out 🙏🏻
