  • Here's a review of the new LEGO City Road Plates pack, part of the new modular LEGO City 2021 wave. I'm half asleep, so I can't think of a joke right now. Hehhehehehe.

    LEGO Review #1432
    ---
    COMMENT RULES:
    1) No number spam (as in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc). This is annoying and usually has NOTHING to do with the video. Also no "I'M EARLY" jokes. Those, again, have nothing to do with the video and are rarely constructive. Or comment spam, like "Legend has it nobody can like this comment!"
    2) No advertising your channel or giveaways. That's not the right way to get viewers.
    3) Don't be offensive. I'm keeping this one vague for a reason. Keep everything PG-rated, not even PG-13.
    4) Don't spoil movies that just came out in theaters (as in, within a one month window).
    5) Treat others with respect.
    6) No political discussion, please. I'll remove any comments that break these rules. This is NOT because I'm an advocate for censorship.
    7) No comments counting up or down to a certain day, like what Kremit used to do. The joke has ran its course...
    If it's super bad, you'll be banned. Thanks, and that's it!

    I still prefer bigger old road pieces.
    And people tend to forgot that new lego cars are 8 studs wide, and whole new road is just 16 ( including line in the middle), so road is to narrow for them. It should be at least 4 studs wider.

    • @dolovo_gaming3081
      @dolovo_gaming3081 3 года назад +6

      The 8 studs wide is only for the racers series, this is specifically made for lego city which still uses the max width of 4 for most cars and 6 for trucks.

    • @maxthrust976
      @maxthrust976 3 года назад +4

      You can make these wider by any multiple of 8 studs by adding more plates, either the full 16x16 plates or the 8x16 (which only comes without a crosswalk printed on it in one set so far but eventually it ought to be available through bricks and pieces)

    I am loving these things. I have 3 sets of them now, plus the plates that came in the other city sets, and I’m def getting more.
    I’m going 3 plates wide in front of my modular buildings, with the center lane markings going down the middle of the center plate. This gives me room for street parking and still have enough space for cars to drive past the parked cars. It looks magnificent. It’s taking up more space than the old road plates but it looks so much better IMO and it’s all road space! As much as I love lego modular buildings, I also love the vehicles, so it’s nice that they now have enough space!

    • @maxthrust976
      @maxthrust976 3 года назад

      Also, for the time being, I’m not even going to bother raising my modulars up. Y’know why? Cuz it’s fine! Yeah, they’re half a plate lower than the road but you can’t tell when there’s parked cars in the way. For now I reckon it’s not worth the trouble.

    I think Lego missed a huge opportunity with these. The idea is excellent, the execution less so. All they needed to do was include standard 16x16 plates, 6x6 tiles and more 2x4 tiles printed and unprinted. The customisation options then would be huge! Yes, it's more parts, but since it only uses existing moulds (apart from the ramps, which I believe are also new), it shouldn't raise the price of a set like this. Plus it's still easy enough for kids 5+ to build and play with. With these, you are very much stuck with huge juniorised pieces with very little flexibility.

    how do they work with the Modular line? I really hate the cheesy looking trees and lights that come with it, the road is “ok”

    Here's my issue. I never liked the other road plates. And I'm still not sure that I like this solution either.

    I’m not saying to copy ashnflash but you should put it all together with all the sets when you build them

    all the spaces between the plates are just so ugly. really messes with the smoothness of how the road looks. I'm also very curious how theyre going to do curves in this new plate system.
