At first I was like April Fools 24. But sometime life is too serious. Yeah I would have preferred something a little more extreme but I think there is a group of people that will love this. Take it to the next level. Maybe Mayor McCheese vs Hamburglar vs. the Burger King vs. Colonel Sanders. I could go on. Ohhhh, The Giant Eagle. But this never was a serious ride. You basically do everything that is illegal to do on the highway on the way to the park. Its not like they turned Steel Phantom into Phantoms Revenge into Marge Simpson the Ride. Even at the "Point" 2024 seems to be a reimagine year. My park is basically reopening a closed section of the park and changing the names of the rides. A few years back we got all new trains for the premier coaster. You could see the old train numbers under the new paint. Yeah. Now you can tell me "we told you so" when one of those fries comes loose and causes a pile up. But until...
Im just going to miss the hand painted backdrop. The drawings were inspired by classic Kennywood commercials of the 50's/60's. Those UPA-looking kids characters actually had a spot in the park. And now they've been evicted.
I can't say I'm in love with this "theme," but I don't think it's any worse than "Good Gravy" opening in '24 at Holiday World, either... 2024 will be the year of food-themed rides!
I'll be completely honest with you all. When they first made this announcement, I was vehemently against this move. But then, the more I thought about it, I feel like this could turn in something fun. I really like the concept art of the car.
I’m mixed on this one! I agree with you it’s not my favorite theme. On one hand the gran prix needed a refurbishment, but I’m not totally sold on the theme, I’ll have to wait and see it in person. The one thing interesting about the bumper car rendering is the theming elements look like an overlay so if the gran prix wanted to make a return in the future it could be a possibility, but we’ll have to wait and see!
I heard this on the radio to work and thought it was a joke. You were spot on, this is really stupid. Sure the bumper cars needed tlc, but a retheme to something so dumb is a bridge too far. It really does feel like theyre self refrencing too much.
Kennywood needs a new Ride. This is basically the Grand Prix thats been there since the early 1970s. This is just a cheap marketing idea. It wont be a "new" ride.
I could not disagree with you more on the subject of the Potato Patch bumper cars. The very concept is of course silly. But that's the charm...it's "amusing" because this is an amusement park. Outsiders, read first time visitors, don't have to "get" it. People know what bumper cars are and if they spend enough time at Kennywood (they should) they most likely will try those famous fries. Connection made. It's OK to be whimsical, silly, amusing. Look where your at no matter what amusement park you visit.
what's next the Schneider's tea-riffic swings or the Turner's Twister?

Your dream idea sounds pretty cool! That's just my opinion.

I hope I can make it to kennywood Pennsylvania in 2024.

At first glance, it does sound stupid. But it can work.
Well at least ownership is putting money into the park

In the end, it doesn't really matter. It's still a new ride.
When I showed my 9 year old this, he rolled his eyes and said that is stupid. He said they should have just bought new Grandprix cars.
Everything is marketing these days. Its so dumb.
Marketing can also be a good thing.

I think it’s dumb just my 2 cents
This is ridiculous 😂😂😂
Ummmm … lol
