      Is that not enough for Astrophoto? I was thinking about to buy it 😄

    Hi. Just bought a Sony a6400 4k, and a Tamron 20mm F/2.8 Di111 OSD M1:2. They said it is a good setup for shooting on the Milky Way. Just if it helps you, I use Jpeg as am not doing any editing. If that helps. I use a decent tripod. Could if you can please comment on this camera and lens. Thank You. Not experienced photographer. Just learning.

      You need to shoot in RAW, I've never used that camera before but to get the most out of the files to bring the milkyway to live on your photos you need a ton of editing

    Is the Samyang 12mm f2 still better for Astro compared to Sony E 11mm f1.8, mate?

      What's its like? For me the 24mm equivalent angle of view isn't wide enough hence why I didn't include these type lenses. I rather ones where you see as much of the milkyway as possible

    Pls check that new Viltrox 16mm 1.8, is incredibly good quality and is surprisingly cheap

      Yeah I want to, I had this video recorded before they announced it, same with the new Sigma as well. Gonna reach out to them to see if I can get a test

    • @MarkDuffyPhotography

      Not wide enough for what I shoot

    • @Pharesm

      Sony 24mm f1.4 GM - my favorite lens, works a charm without being ultrawide. Some people do astro with 80mm lenses - all depends what you want to shoot in the night sky.

    • @MarkDuffyPhotography
      @MarkDuffyPhotography  3 месяца назад

      @Pharesm I've done some shots with my 135mm f1.8 but this was about wide angle lenses and yeah the 24mm f1.4 is an unreal lens for how I like to shoot its not near wide enough

    • @Pharesm
      @Pharesm 3 месяца назад

      @@MarkDuffyPhotography That is true, if you want to picture a large canvas of the night Skye, maybe including the ground you are standing on.
      But there are Astro-photographers who use 80mm or even longer lenses, if they want to picture specific points of interest in the Night sky.
      I found the 24mm quite good for showing some mountain and 2/3 sky...
      I don't like the 14mm that much, but on APSC, the 11mm is pretty great, with little distortion.

    • @MarkDuffyPhotography
      @MarkDuffyPhotography  3 месяца назад +1

      @Pharesm that's fair but this video would've been about deep sky astro but the fact I listed ultra wide angle lenses should be clear. I can of course change the title but the message is still the same

    Sony 24mm GM gang

    • @MarkDuffyPhotography
      @MarkDuffyPhotography  2 месяца назад

      20mm is as narrow as I'd go when shooting milkyways, I want to see as much of the sky as possible

  • @cameraprepper7938
    @cameraprepper7938 9 месяцев назад +4

    "Top" must mean the best !? So the 14mm must be Sony 14m 1.8 GM, also Sony 24mm 1.4 is missing in this "Top" 4

    • @MarkDuffyPhotography
      @MarkDuffyPhotography  9 месяцев назад +1

      I wouldn't put any 24mm into a list of lenses for astrophotography as it's not wide enough. I haven't had the chance to try out Sony 14mm or the since released Sigma 14mm.

      @@MarkDuffyPhotography Well, other photographers do !!! I have both the Sony 14mm 1.8 and Sony 24mm 1.8, both are excellent Lenses ! Sigma/Bigma is a huge monster.

    • @christopherdean2576
      @christopherdean2576 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@MarkDuffyPhotography the Sony 14 1.8 is far easier to focus than the Sigma 14 1.4 but, although big and heavy, the Sigma is such a thoughtfully realized lens for astro !!

  • @RyanLunaPhotography

    Title of the video is a bit misleading.

    • @MarkDuffyPhotography
      @MarkDuffyPhotography  2 месяца назад

      Why? Because everyone in the comments is suggesting 24mm GM yet I'm only recommending ultra angle wide lenses. The only other lens I would be considering for this is the Sony 14mm f1.8 but I haven't tried it. But since the video was made Sigma has released a new 14mm f1.4 which I tried at an event and its really good. So no I stand by the video and title
