TheTopher is one of the best POV videos creator he tries all different types of cars and I'm really glad to hear his opinion about this version of the car cuz I'm considering buying one since filling your car with gas here in Germany is like you're filling your car with gold not petrol lmao it's that expensive
Great video! I loved the GT but I'm really eager to drive this 4 cylinder. For the money I'd even consider it a compelling WRX Limited competitor, especially for those that miss the hatch.
TheTopher do you know the trim of the gt you will try to get? I'd love to see a gt base or a gt1. Everyone has done the gt2. Feel like there's more value in the other trims
Although wrx has more horsepower and better exhaust note than the 2.0 stinger, the interior of the stinger is way better. The wrx interior is although relatively new it feels super outdated
This 4 cyl engine in this car... it doesn't sound bad at all. I kinda like it. Better sounding than volvo's 4 cyl engines. But for me, the V6 in this car is just perfection.
Rafael Santos_7 Volvo’s I4’s dont sound great, that is true...but they drive very nicely. I look for smoothness and power delivery in a 4 cylinder, not sound !
Great review. Helped me decide and I ended up getting the Black 2.0T AWD. Very happy with it. Got it at invoice price too. It's really a great compromise if you don't have the cash for the GT versions.
No issues in 2 years and it's holding up great. Power is still good but I mainly use mine as a daily commuter now. It's become pretty practical. I drove 1500 miles in 2 days with a fully loaded car and it was smooth got great mileage and power was good. No complaints.
Did you measure the noise level inside the cabin? I drove a 2.0T and was surprised that it sounded louder than my 2017 Optima Hybrid. Love the GT but would prefer the 2.0T, can't get over the noise. It might be the tires though.
ThePuffin77 most people would lol but markup price will probably shoot it upwards up 60k hopefully they will sell a lot though so it depreciated in the future haha
This is the car I'd buy! I thought awd only came with the 300+hp but today, with your video, I realized the 250hp has awd and is cheaper! I have no use for the 300+hp one because it's power I'd probably never need and it burns more gas.
That's what I'm thinking too. I test drove the 2.0 and it is a very nice ride and plenty enough power for me. They are going for around 34k here in Colorado. I might try and see if I can get one a little closer to 30k at the end of the year when they may be more motivated to sell them when the next years model is about to come out. I also may just pull the trigger on it too since I got a nice raise at work recently.
I would recommend you don't try the 3.3 even if you are curious if you don't want to end up getting the V6. It's miles of smiles with all that power. I put a K&N intake on mine and the turbos spooling up sound amazing!
You can run 87 in the 2.0 liter but 91 octane in America is required and 93 is recommended in the 3.3TT. I tried 87 in my GT2 and it lost quite a bit of power. My guess is if you can find even higher octane fuel it would take advantage of it.
jpmackin....Let me tell you a little secret. ALL Korean cars will run just fine on regular gas. Why? Because they are designed specifically to do so, as we do not have high octane gas in Korea.
Great Review Man. I am strongly considering one of these. I have a slightly random question. From a full tank, do you recall what the "distance to empty" showed in the instrument cluster. I want a sporty AWD daily driver that has reasonable fuel economy.
U can get accord touring 2.0 at this price range. I prefer accord but they will be a large amount of them on the road in the coming years making it too common
S Singh...Both great cars IMO. But the Stinger is interesting because it offers similar amenities and power, but in a sportier driving car with RWD/AWD. If you want a bit of sport in your family sedan, you should really look at the Stinger, as it will be more dynamic than the Honda.
...especially when you switch over to the incredibly stunning Maserati-inspired 14- inch original OEM KDM stinger chrome script logo across the trunk....it really looks totally awesome...
Really? the Audi TT RS has circular vents, so they copied MB? Circular vents aren't the style of one vehicle. Who are the folks with the square vents copying? It's a styling element, no one owns the patent on putting circular vents in vehicles. Come on folks, get over that stuff, appreciate the vehicle for what it is, a beautifully styled car that looks like nothing else on the road. You see what you want to see when you look a things, that's normal. Hey, look! That cloud looks like a bunny!
So glad to see a 4cylinder review, great to know that it is still a great car! Would love to see what tuners can do for the 2.0t, some say tune only jumps it to 310 bhp and 325 tq. But have yet to see a finished canned tune. Would be great if they can pull it off though!
Wedow lookup lap3 wastegate mod for the Optima. With 93 octane and methane injection they get 420wheel horsepower and run 12.5 in the quarter. In a Stinger you're looking at low 12s with the same mods.
CatharticCathexis um no, the Kia optima with those mods may run 12s y yes, but for the same money you're fbo on the stinger and there hasn't even been a real tune out for it yet, yet with that and a jb1 unit it puts down 455whp. A real tune when it is released will easily cross the 500whp mark as well as break into 11s. My q60rs is full Boltons now I'm with. 3 liters less displacement and 100lbs more weight ran an 11.92 on the stock tire. It only made 430whp and 450 tq. The stinger will beat an optima if you spent the same money modding it, that's just how displacement works. It'll prob be faster than my q60rs with the same mods.
Wedow you're comparing the VR30 in the Nissan to the turbo 4 in the Kia. It makes more torque, period. It's going to pull harder and breathe better in the top end. The Turbo 4 kia is a distant cousin to the Lancer EVO9 4 cylinder. So it has a small turbo that runs out of steam at the top of the revband but pulls hard at 2000RPMs to about 5000RPMs. If it ran 11s with the same mods in a heavier car with 450hp it would be magic.
Please don't compare this to a Camry and Accord, it's a far different class. The Optima competes with the Camry. It's an Audi A5/S5 competitor, Porsche Panamera competitor, and BMW 330/340i competitor.
Wedow the 330i is 240 hp so this 4 cylinder does compete with it. The A5 is 241 HP. So yes this 4cylinder competes with it. When I mentioned the 340i and the S5 and Panamera, I was referring to the GT competes with them. The 320i DOES not compete with the stinger it's far too underpowered and weak.
Look up the alternate Kia badges. They have a K badge that they use in Korea that looks much better. I't kinda looks like the Lexus badge. There is also some E badge they use too but I don't like that one at all.
Many vehicles have styling elements that are similar to others, that's nothing new. Yeah, the hood vents are non-functional however, the ones in the bumper and the fender are functional. Stop hating on the car, go take one out for a drive and see what it is really like.
If only the elantra sport had this engine, it would've quite possibly been able to whoop a Honda civic type R, which is a terribly performing car for the amount of hp it claims to have even the Honda accord 2.0t with only 255hp is equal to performance of the civic type r!
You're one of the most underrated reviewers I've ever seen man. Cant wait to see you blow up!
Can't believe this is a Kia! This car is seriously on my radar for my next car.
you and me both
Cool to see someone review this car that doesn't have the top of the line GT
TheTopher is one of the best POV videos creator he tries all different types of cars and I'm really glad to hear his opinion about this version of the car cuz I'm considering buying one since filling your car with gas here in Germany is like you're filling your car with gold not petrol lmao it's that expensive
Great video! I loved the GT but I'm really eager to drive this 4 cylinder. For the money I'd even consider it a compelling WRX Limited competitor, especially for those that miss the hatch.
MATT!! HUGE FAN!!!
Thanks man!
It's a lot better than I expected! Handling is sublime. Can't wait to get into a Stinger GT later this spring. I'll have to check out your review!

Rafael Santos_7 Volvo’s I4’s dont sound great, that is true...but they drive very nicely. I look for smoothness and power delivery in a 4 cylinder, not sound !
Rafael Santos_7 isn't it the same engine used in the Optima ?
Torrey B Kias drive nicely and smoothly as well.
Monsieur Africain I’m not saying they don’t
Yeah agreed
The audio from your video is just been really good. Keep it up Chris!
Beautiful car.
The only downfall of having such strong interest in new models is not knowing the reliability haha.
Raiyuden it does come with a 10 year 100k mile warranty tho
...in US the bumper to bumper warranty runs 5 years or 60k miles...and the powertrain warranty runs 10 years and 100k...
never clicked on anything faster
agh I want them to make an ev version SO badly to compete with Tesla. It would be amazing and it'd be my dream car
Great review. Helped me decide and I ended up getting the Black 2.0T AWD. Very happy with it. Got it at invoice price too. It's really a great compromise if you don't have the cash for the GT versions.
How has it held up in the first two years? Hows the power? Any issues?
No issues in 2 years and it's holding up great. Power is still good but I mainly use mine as a daily commuter now. It's become pretty practical. I drove 1500 miles in 2 days with a fully loaded car and it was smooth got great mileage and power was good. No complaints.
Michigan highways are a great place to test this one out ;) Thanks for the review, this one's definitely on my list for my next new car.
I'm seriously looking forward to the US-spec Genesis G70. It's the Stinger but even better.
g70 design awsom..
It is, but 12k more starting price, but they should lease well.
Did you measure the noise level inside the cabin? I drove a 2.0T and was surprised that it sounded louder than my 2017 Optima Hybrid. Love the GT but would prefer the 2.0T, can't get over the noise. It might be the tires though.
I would take the new Regal GS over the 2.0t, but the 3.3t is definitely the one I would want to have.
ThePuffin77 most people would lol but markup price will probably shoot it upwards up 60k hopefully they will sell a lot though so it depreciated in the future haha
How does this compare to the new Accord and Camry in towards of handling and performance
Great review, next up GT2 Stinger please
This is the car I'd buy! I thought awd only came with the 300+hp but today, with your video, I realized the 250hp has awd and is cheaper! I have no use for the 300+hp one because it's power I'd probably never need and it burns more gas.

Will you be testing the GT?
Are you planning on getting the GT version in the spring/summer at all?
the grip on this car, oh my...
How is the road noise in this car?
This or the Giulia? Which do you like better?
Its an amazing car. The GTs really make it a competitor
why does the 2.0 have awd? only the 2.2 and 3.6 have awd. (in europe)
For my first car (aka high school car) should I get this or the Toyota Camry xse?
this is way too much car for a first timer..
Would you personally own one? If so what configuration? Rwd 3.3t or awd, 4cyl awd or rwd
Wait, what's the temp in Michigan that almost all the snow is gone?
Premium fuel only?
jpmackin of course! Never use less than 98 octane, better 100 or more (might not be available in your country).
He did say premium recommended not required so I'm not sure yet. In say the Genesis V8 it's 429 horsepower premium and 420 regular.
You can run 87 in the 2.0 liter but 91 octane in America is required and 93 is recommended in the 3.3TT. I tried 87 in my GT2 and it lost quite a bit of power. My guess is if you can find even higher octane fuel it would take advantage of it.

2018 Mustang GT next?
Is that road noise at high speed accurate and does it have thigh extension cushion?
I say get the base model if you want to do some mods.
Thanks for the review! Any chance you'll be reviewing the new Regal GS soon?
Suscribed. Nice review bro, plain and simple. Keep it up!!!
This or a Honda Accord 2.0t sport?
S Singh Honda
U can get accord touring 2.0 at this price range. I prefer accord but they will be a large amount of them on the road in the coming years making it too common

Man, what I would love for a US manufacturer to get materials right like this (ignoring the Navigator and now Aviator)
Lol in Europe this car starts at €59999 thats double the price of the US...
In Hungary it starts from 45k, so maybe the problem is some kind of tax in your country
Next video can do a review on the 2019 kia sorento ex
Rear is 100% Maserati. Look it up
...especially when you switch over to the incredibly stunning Maserati-inspired 14- inch original OEM KDM stinger chrome script logo across the trunk....it really looks totally awesome...
please test out the VW Arteon 280HP
omg what an ugly front face ... another camry gilette G5 shaving blade
i hope kia gives more some choices to decorate 2.0turbo with sporty style like 3.3turbo...with more colors!
I agree. All I want is the 2.0 base but I wish they had more options for exterior and interior colors. I really like the grey color the GT2 comes in.
Do a Kia Sedona
Mercedes-Benz copy interior which looks amazing!
just because of the vents? A lot of cars have the same vents.
Really? the Audi TT RS has circular vents, so they copied MB? Circular vents aren't the style of one vehicle. Who are the folks with the square vents copying? waynerm002 yeah, and not to forget the wheels! There are four! And they are round! Kia copied from all brands! :)))
So glad to see a 4cylinder review, great to know that it is still a great car! Would love to see what tuners can do for the 2.0t, some say tune only jumps it to 310 bhp and 325 tq. But have yet to see a finished canned tune. Would be great if they can pull it off though!
Wedow probably to the wheels? Hopefully haha
Stuff stuff and More stuff no. Bhp, the car doesn't have that big of a turbo, that power to the wheels would be with some Boltons
Wedow lookup lap3 wastegate mod for the Optima. With 93 octane and methane injection they get 420wheel horsepower and run 12.5 in the quarter. In a Stinger you're looking at low 12s with the same mods.

Monsieur Africain not this model. The gt yes, the 4 cylinder is just a better rwd camry competitor, or a base tlx and a3 or bmw 320i killer.
Kia competes with Audi and Porsche? What a joke
This thing handles crap compared to those cars you mentioned. This KIA is heavy, long wheelbase. floaty compared to all those "real" luxury cars
poy Mu based on what? Have you driven all these cars. All reviewers have said it does compete with them.
Wedow the 330i is 240 hp so this 4 cylinder does compete with it. The A5 is 241 HP. So yes this 4cylinder competes with it. When I mentioned the 340i and the S5 and Panamera, I was referring to the GT competes with them. The 320i DOES not compete with the stinger it's far too underpowered and weak.
...and the rear hatch didn't rattle .
I currently own a 2016 optima LX “FE”. 255 hp it plenty for me but I am also looking at at a 2016 Mustang 4cyl due to price and maintenance reasons...
Another win for the new Accord.
Can you please test the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Sahara? Love your vids!
KIA king 👑
I enjoy your video a lot but too much suden camera movement.
awesome breakdown !!
The car is stunning, only bad thing is the lame KIA badge up front. Not a badge snob at all, I just don't like the badge design. So dull.
Look up the alternate Kia badges. They have a K badge that they use in Korea that looks much better. I't kinda looks like the Lexus badge. There is also some E badge they use too but I don't like that one at all.
I like everything about the car but the GDI engine and I'm not a fan of turbos.
whats the bad thing about GDI?
Interior looks a little like Mazda's Interior a little bit
Only diesel and v6 has awd
Gergely...All engine options have the AWD option.
John Holst sadly not in my country :(
USA Highway videos give me chills every time. How the f do you all not die every time you enter it? Seems completely arbitrary how everyone drives.
Mercedes interior + Maserati rear design + some fake hood and fender vents = KIA
Many vehicles have styling elements that are similar to others, that's nothing new. Yeah, the hood vents are non-functional however, the ones in the bumper and the fender are functional. Stop hating on the car, go take one out for a drive and see what it is really like.
If you want to imitate something it's better to take it from the best in the industry
It just does not look good. Too many fake vents on it
j hrk too many? Exactly two...
The front and side vents are functional. Only the good ones are decoration.
Guessing two is too many for yah eh?
If only the elantra sport had this engine, it would've quite possibly been able to whoop a Honda civic type R, which is a terribly performing car for the amount of hp it claims to have even the Honda accord 2.0t with only 255hp is equal to performance of the civic type r!
Нормально
It sounds like a cvt
❤❤❤
Nice review but the POV is not that great a view - just about unwatchable
Accord 2.0t Touring over this hands down for this price range. . If you're in the mid size sedan market. Even without AWD.
DriveCFL Stinger is rwd. It drives completely different from Accord/Camry.
For the price I wouldn't buy a Kia.
copy audi a3
