Discovered and fell in love with the Stinger a while ago, but have never seen anyone cover the base models. I want one, but the GT is a little pricey. Now, I know that the 2L Turbo is just fine, it's not as beefy as it's big brother, but still a quick, reliable car, with good handling and style that deserves that sport luxury name. The wife and I have a short list of cars to replace our current ride (Nora), some are Lottery cars, some are regular cars, and the Stinger was in a limbo state because of it's similarity to the G70 (my lotto car, I just love those). With this review, it is absolutely back on the list, sitting at the top of the regular car choices.
I've noticed in almost all reviews of Kia vehicles, after every accolade of praise, the sentence is qualified by "for a Kia". In 2010 I purchased a 2011 Kia Sorento assembled in West Point, GA. After 8 years and 80k miles, I have paid out of pocket for normal routine maintenance and one battery. That's all! Not too bad,.. for a Kia.
theodorekell I'll take the KIA thank u. Had a Mustang GT, it ended being the biggest mistake in my life as far as vehicle purchase. Bought a Genesis Cp Rspec V6 after getting rid of that Ford POS, and it's a much better car. Now I'm the proud owner of a Stinger GT and I'm loving it.
Hi Sarah! I really liked this review; it was lively, informative, and at no point did I find myself wanting information that wasn't presented here. I really liked the fact that this was a base model, while every other review was about the higher end models. I was appreciative of the shots of the engine bay; I always look at these things as if I needed to work on them, and the engine bay of this model looked surprisingly easy to work with. Well done, Sarah! :)
FINALLY A base review! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy seeing every feature one can throw into a car, but sometimes I like knowing what the base model has and how it is. Most likely I'm going to get something in between, but it's nice to know what "in between" actually is. Great review. I look forward to more base model reviews from you!
I own the four banger all wheel drive. It has the best of both worlds, fuel economy, acceleration and handling. Even great for driving in the snow. It is the car no one talks about as everyone is focused on the GT.
Just bought a 4 cylinder 2019 with 28k miles last week and I love it! It has the sun and sound package 🔥🔥🔥 I wanted fuel economy too I have a family and would drive a few hours away to the beach in it
I’m looking at one now. I Already have a Genesis v8 soo I want a economy car and the have low payments for this car. It has 60k miles. Anything I need to look out for?
Love your videos, Sarah. You are quickly becoming one of my favorite reviewers. Keep focusing on the car you are in. So many other reviewers don't talk about the car they are in, they complain about the previous version of the car instead.
My coworker has a Stinger. It turns heads. We all admire it when we see it... But I will say that I have heard several people say, "It's nice, but it's a Kia." Kia's own name is their biggest problem.
There was a time a while back when Audis were viewed as being "not very good". This was likely due to the problems with unintended acceleration and also the fact that the electronics weren't very reliable back in the day. Things have changed significantly for Audi and over time I think the same will happen with Kia (or they will re-brand to lose the stigma associated with their name). Also, think of Genesis (which is a re-branded Hyundai) and you see essentially the same vehicles under a different brand. Personally I love the G70 and I think the Koreans will make serious inroads into many markets with this level of quality and refinement. Also, GREAT REVIEW Sarah!
Nice review, Sarah. I'm in total agreement with you about this car. I drove the GT and was pretty impressed. Keep up the good work. BTY...the deer giving birth comment was a total crack up.
Great review Sarah!! Folding mirrors are popular in Europe. The streets are so narrow that non retracted mirrors get broken off by passing cars. The Stinger is nice, but it should have a small V8.
Sarah you are not weird at all. All of the other women out there are weird and don't have any character. You are beautiful and funny and I really enjoy your view point on these reviews.
Good review. Not over hyped, but slightly Over priced for a Kia base 4 cylinder 2.0L Turbo. It starts at 32k with the added features your pushing 40k and right into Camry v6 territory. This should be 26k . Its not as refined as The Toyota Camry which frankly is a better deal because for less than 5k, you can get the Camry Naturally aspirated v6 making 300hp with no turbo Lag, better quality interior and quiet interior. But its a good sedan rught after Toyota Camry.
Sarah, I’ve been asking you, on your channel, to review the Stinger before it goes away. Now I find you did this for TFL to the ‘18 base model. Very nice review but I still want the GT2 RWD to see your opinion on the full Monty. I want a Beans Score™️! How many penguins fit in the console box, the braking test, all of it. Science with Sarah. So much more is needed. ❤️
The I-4 is most likely extremely similar to the one in the bk2 genesis coupe, which is known to make big power with mods. It isn’t uncommon to see one pushing 400whp
It's always a good idea to get the opinion of the laaaaaddiiieeees when it comes to new cars. I agree with Sarah regarding the rear end of the car. Good job!
Eric Lind yes, KIA has fixed that issue. How ever if u have a car with the paint defect , KIA will repaint ur car/ give u a loaner AND give u a check for $5,000.00 for the inconvenience.
I have a company car that is 2018 Toyota C-HR and the advanced driver junk ( collision avoidance, lane departure and dynamic cruise control) came standard and I disable it ALL!!
8 to 10 years ago I wouldn't have been caught dead in a KIA and now I own 2. I have a 2011 KIA Rondo and a 2015 KIA Optima. Both have been very reliable. I feel as a car maker they have improved to the point that you shouldn't have to say " FOR A KIA " anymore. It would be more accurate to say " FOR THE MONEY". What you get from KIA and Hyundia for the money now seems to be more then most other manufacturers can do or offer.
at 08.22 the lag is from a single turbo, although a bit larger than the ''twin scroll'' turbos'in the v-6 model. Ya only have one not two.....otherwise good review sarah.
Tucson roads suck. So glad you mentioned that as a testing attribute, 'bout the only thing good about our roads, testing suspensions on new cars, our town can totally prove how marketing can go so wrong.
The engine is the same as the Hyundai i30N/VelosterN so it's capable of some more power. Match that with the manual transmission from the Genesis G70 and you'd sure have one fun 2.0L Stinger.
I actually wished my GT transmission was like the one in this "base" model. Don't know why so many manufacturers are complicating the transmission selection lever.
Positive take on Kia Badge. If you don’t have $40K+ to throw down on a new Stinger GT, then rejoice that it has a Kia badge. A lightly used Stinger should be an excellent bargain in the coming years. No badge to prop up the resale price.
The Genesis G70 reviews say the G70 is better even they are related. Sarah, ever check out a Hyundai Genesis? It is evolved into the Genesis G80 now with plenty around used. We have one that has the older V6.
Passat they suck and don't run half of the time because I had one will never get another one ever. Now I have a kia Optima and I love it and never have any problems with it at all.
I thought I knew everything about the Kia stinger. Turns out I don't. I did not know that the trunk is so comfortable. Good to know if you're a mobster and throw a lot of bodies into the boot of your car. 😁
Sarah, weird is good. Was waiting to watch you give it "The Beans". But since that is from that channel with the weird person working on cars, maybe you should give it a "Decaf, Caffeinated" ranking. I would like to get the performance numbers, 0-60, number of grocery bags fit in trunk, and date potential (is it a Manly man car, or a chick mobile). Great review. Love your nails -- I think that color would be great on an Audi TT. Too bad you don't have one :-)
Why is Hyundai/Kia copying FCA in terms of styling? They started with this car by having a similar rear end as the Dodge Charger and now with the Hyundai Santa Fe having a similar design to the previous Jeep Cherokee?
I enjoyed this video for sure. I agree. This "base model" is damn good for what it is. I just wish Kia would have given it a sunroof option along with the upgraded headlamps. The other standard features are really good on this one.
Sexy car. Love the color. Disappointed to keep hearing reviewers say the Stinger is plagued with squeaks and rattles. Those drive me nuts. I need a solidly build car.
I have had zero on mine. I am unsure what some are talking about. And trust me, I will sell a car if I hear them so I listened for every little sound. This car has been solid for me through and through.
Great for you. A lot of stingers have squeaks and rattles though. Clearly KIA has dramatically improved, but still has a ways to go build quality wise.
I like the review but I have to say I still like the gt2 model better just due to all the bells and whistles. All my coworkers have BMW's and that's nice for them but I want to save money and have fun so I can see myself getting one.
Squeaks and rattles at 6000 miles is no good. Plus, depreciation on these is already brutal (check out autotrader for pre-owned Stingers...yes, they are already out there.) Great review! Keep up the good work :)
The hood vents, on all trims are fake. I was curious as well, but I have seen a few of all trims at work. Its sad...but hey, it looks good. ted101975 yep. Exactly
I think red line review has one and alexmotors
2:44 Nice...

Yea, but you drove 8 years in Sorento. Lets say I do few repairs in Mustang. But at least, every drive is a thrill.
I rather have a Kia with less maintenance than a Ford with more maintenance even though the Mustang is a fun car to drive.
Get a Stinger GT, reliability of KIA with the excitement of driving a Mustang. Best part is it actually goes where you aim it when WOT.
a thrill without traffic maybe and speeding
theodorekell I'll take the KIA thank u.

Oh she's DEFINITELY weird...

Way to go Sarah ! Always great reviews
I’ve seen a few of these around town. Looks better in person than in pictures.
bgtx much better. Very eye catching.
True
3:51. Sarah says , “Me getting into the backseat is like watching a Deer giving birth”. LMFAO 🤣😂😁😆
Sara is like a breath of fresh air on this channel. Nice review keep it up.
Only videos I watch on this channel are hers. The only one that can actually drive as well
Finally someone who talks to us about the car rather than presenting the car to us.
Love your videos, Sarah. You are quickly becoming one of my favorite reviewers. Keep focusing on the car you are in. So many other reviewers don't talk about the car they are in, they complain about the previous version of the car instead.

I enjoy your reviews
My coworker has a Stinger. It turns heads. We all admire it when we see it... But I will say that I have heard several people say, "It's nice, but it's a Kia." Kia's own name is their biggest problem.
floyd watt Because deep down you know reliability isn’t there. It’s like looking at a sculptured potato, at the end of the day it’s still a potato.
Yep
Kia got pretty reliable these days. I think in some cases it’s more reliable than some german cars
@@WQQKIE Kia and Hyundai are very reliable now plus they have German designers too.
There was a time a while back when Audis were viewed as being "not very good". Great video Sarah and the Kia Stinger looks great - I really like the styling.
Best car to replace Holden and Ford in Australia
gaysian
Enoch Powell still a better car than the Commodore !!!
@Enoch Powell is that what your Boyfriend said to you?
How is the 2.0 stinger power and ride compare to the Audi A5 sportback.
Great review Sarah!! Folding mirrors are popular in Europe. The streets are so narrow that non retracted mirrors get broken off by passing cars. The Stinger is nice, but it should have a small V8.
That would be nice to have a small v-8, but I would even love to see a straight six in that engine bay - lots of room to work on it.
Sarah you are not weird at all. All of the other women out there are weird and don't have any character. You are beautiful and funny and I really enjoy your view point on these reviews.

Good review. Wonder if the squeaks and rattles are partially due to the less-still hatchback design?
Your "weird" segment is perfect, keep that going. Nice job on the review.
Sarah, you do great reviews! I'm subscribing for sure😀
Lol, great, now everytime I see a Stinger, I am going to see those giant sunglasses. Never noticed that before, but you are spot on.

It’s a Base Model. I get that. I got it a lot. But what is missing on it compared to a Not a Base model apart from a v6 engine?
I would love to get Sarah in a GT model. That’s going to be my next car in 6 months when my current lease is up.

The taillights are straight out of audis design studio. Amazing that...no wait. The guy who drew it worked for audi

Okay, question:
The Kia and VW both have 2-liter engines and are roomier sedans. Which was better?
Needs a manual transmission option. Going to buy a G70 for that exact reason.
We have a 2.2 diesel which is also fun
A comfy trunk? Do you spend a lot of time in trunks?
Sarah, you are not weird at all! You need your own youtube channel tho :-). Thanks for the terrific review.

JB 4 tune denso spark plugs k&n induction system front and rear sway bar upgrade and it becomes a great car

Why is Hyundai/Kia copying FCA in terms of styling? They started with this car by having a similar rear end as the Dodge Charger and now with the Hyundai Santa Fe having a similar design to the previous Jeep Cherokee?
Well, if the rumors pan out, Hyundai will actually own a big chunk (if not all) of FCA before long. :)

Wow Kia is just awesome in this base model too !!!
I like the review. May have to check one out!
It’s a got bmw style kidney grille, Camry side taillight things, arteon/cc liftback look, Dodge light bar...its nice. Just $$$

Does it require high octane fuel? So aggravating the high performance cars requiring it.
