      I think the sportage (for all of it's foibles) was probably the car that made owning a KIA acceptable... their normal range is drab. They do make really good looking SUV's and the stinger is a beauty, but even at that price point it won't be the head turner in the golf club car park that people think it will be

    • @szpecunio
      @szpecunio 3 года назад +21

      It's way better than any other sports car just because of it's price. The fact is you're not paying for a bmw badge and that's why it can be as good as a bmw but for 3/4 of the price

    • @TheComputec
      @TheComputec 3 года назад +20

      @@szpecunio It's fast, has great lines and sounds great, but at £42,000 it doesn't match the German brands for build quality or material choices. For example that steering wheel is awful and there is far too much cheap plastic... You get what you pay for

      @@TheComputec As an owner, the only plastic parts are the bottoms of the door bins and centre console, where you don’t see them, and it turns an awful lot of heads. Mostly from German saloon drivers questioning their choices. Have a little look at drive surveys and you’ll find Kia is far above the Germans for quality and reliability. Hence they can afford a 7 year warranty.

    I've owned my Stinger GT for 3.5 years. It's been pretty much faultless, unlike my previous BMW. The ride is quite comfortable and I love how the car is fully loaded. The seats hug you tight so you don't jiggle about so much. The power is awesome but when you want the car to just be a comfy car, it's brilliant. The steering, the drive, the communication with the road is just great. I find it hilarious that the same friends who snobbed at my "Kia" are the same ones who had their German cars break down.

      @R A statistically speaking, bmws are not a reliable brand. This is coming from a guy who daily drives a 330i. The other guy's speaking from experience, why are you labeling him as stereotypical? Hell, carwow themselves rated bmws as unreliable in their brand reliability video. Mechanics on youtube concurr, like scotty kilmer who goes in depth about faults in build quality in some german brands. It's one thing to like a brand, it's another to be a blind fanboy. The other problem is reliability beyond the warranty period if you are the sort of person that wants to own the car and not just lease it. For leasing nobody would choose this over an M340I or M440I as especially in Europe they have such very strong leasing deals for BMW. Also as far as 2nd hand cars go a Lexus GSF would make more sense with that sweet V8 if you want to keep a car.

    The Stinger has fairly reasonable boot space inside: I'm 6ft 3 (193cm) and have gone camping in mine. With rear seats down, the front seat tilted forward and my luggage pushed over to the passenger side, there was enough length for me to stretch out fully in my sleeping bag on my self-inflating mattress. I could even point my tippy-toes down and only just touched the tailgate area. I found that impressive.

      @@mr.c3939 I think this is part of Kia's proving ground (for lack of a better word) to being a more premium brand. Their new EV6 looks impressive - but it is premium priced... they are trying to make their way into a different market - not the budget runaround but competing with Audi and BMW in the mid-range at least. I think they will do well if they maintain their long warranty proposition. Does not matter to a company car driver (and I did that for decades) but when you buy your own vehicles and have to cough up for extended warranties then having 7 (or 10 in the US) years warranty baked in is huge. I've been a brand snob for years .. VW, Audi, Maserati (OK hold the comments on quality 'cos it's been great for over 2 years) but my aversion to South Korean products has dimmed. my Brother bought a Kia for his daughter out in California and it's been flawless... Sometimes you need to take a step back and think about what matters in your long term driving experience. I know that I love my Maserati Levante S, but I also know I drive it like a Nun most of the time 'cos that is what the current traffic volumes permit.

No maintenance costs aside from oil changes so far, but i also got the platinum warranty in case I decide to sell it later. I feel like with the cancellation of the Stinger and the inherent rarity of them to begin with , having one with such low mileage made more sense than trying to flip it or trade in for a new lease on a different car (which, yeah... there's really nothing that stands up as an alternative to the Stinger anymore in its price point and style/performance figures)

      @@이진석-z2x Calm down, I'm not implying they stole the design. Albert Biermann left BMW to go to KIA. Also KIA's are no longer seen as garbage btw. I believe the move was partly inspired by wanting to prove a point about how slowly Germans were developing their design ideas. Look at the 8 series GC compared to the stinger side profile. KIA developed that that idea, literally in half the time. Go on, compare the 6 series GC and tell me that Albert wasn't having a sense of humour!!

      @@aidenp5768 I agree that they look similar, but as someone who is experienced with BMWs, I guess it’s easy for me to see everything that isn’t BMW about it. For example the vents on the lower end of the front look like no current BMWs, and the headlight leds look a bit like bmw but to overall shape doesn’t.
      Overall that’s just how I see it.

      That's its main problem. And if it was made for enthusiasts, it should've had the option to choose a manual.
