@@Larkful_Dodger if its an authentic E badge Stinger then technically it is “exotic” cause apparently those were exclusive to Korea and some got imported to here. I own one with the E badge its pretty cool!
All stingers are made in korea, therefore all are imported. None came to north america with the "E" badge. If you bought it with one, that means someone ordered it online and swapped it for the ugly factory logo.
Brake vibration is a USDM brake pad issue. Allegedly the formulation is low dust and low noise. Regardless, it FAILS when pushed hard with an inability to handle high heat, causing the pads to leave deposits on the rotors, causing pedal vibration. Kia Service Centers have been replacing rotors for customers but this process starts all over again because the issue isn't with the rotors... it's the US spec pads. So either install OE Euro-Spec pads ( P/N's: 58101J5A55 front, 58302J5A55 rear) or quality aftermarket ones. Only then is the problem solved. And btw, that's my red Stinger, K-ZILLA plates, in those Thatdudeinblue shots.

Here in Australia we don't get the AWD version. I have the GT with the bimodal exhaust which is the top model here. Easily the best value for money car I have ever owned, and I have had some fantastic cars, including a Merc. When you take into consideration the performance, standard features, driving experience and the warranty, there is not much, if anything, in its class that offers so much for the price. It is a brilliant car that is fantastic on a long drive and great to drive around the suburbs. Kia and Hyundai / Genesis are making great cars and badge snobbery aside, why would you not buy one?
Well, when's the last time u had snow? Or even rain. Rwd is ur best option. Here in Canada it comes only RWD. Good thing too. Enjoy ur STINGER. See even the name sounds awesome.
As an owner of a 2019 GT2, I'd say this is a pretty fair review. The rotor problem is actually due to the OEM brake pads, and the issue can be resolved aftermarket pads. The trunk rattle is fixed with a $2 bag of washers from Home Depot. The interior squawks are fair, but it's not like the Germans use real metal in their sub-50K car interiors either, so I call it a wash. Mine has held up quite well for the past 40K. I'll drop a pic on your gallery, I'm on 20" Vertini RFS 1.8's.
Fully decked 2019 for me and I love mine. Worked hard to get it and it's worth it all. I hadn't heard of the trunk rattle before this video so that was new to hear. But I recommend this car plenty for anyone who is looking for fun without totally breaking the bank. (Oh and a borla sounds incredible on it)
I work at kia and I drive these all the time, honestly they do feel amazing and they are quite fast, even tho it has restrictions for power its still very fast. Rotors are a big problem but costumers have tried after market rotors and they do just fine. Inside feels really nice, I like the sporty feeling it gives just by sitting in it. I'm surprised they didn't show much of the inside in this video but the inside looks really nice
Bought a GT1 awd a little over 2 years ago. Not a single issue. Its a jack of all trades, master of none which is perfect for a daily with space for kids and stuff. Love it!

I haven't likes Kia for years until the past 5 years or so where their cars have stepped it up! I would totally own a Kia Stinger and some of their other products. Would love to buy a used Stinger one day. What I really love about the Stinger is how great it looks and it's not generic like most other cars. On paper the specs seems great too! Would love to drive one. I hope the Kia brand continues to gain popularity, as they have been doing great!
I just got my stinger about a month ago and I have to say it’s perfect. People ask me all the time what car is that and are shocked when they hear it’s a Kia. The car looks great, it has a ton of new tech, it’s pretty fast, and I got all wheel drive so I don’t have to worry about the snow. I just wish that there was a bigger aftermarket scene. I’m about to buy the 450 horsepower stinger package from burger Motorsport. I would recommend this car to anyone.
Get a G70 Wagon if youre in europe. Same drivetrain as the Stinger. RS/S7 is closer to the Stinger technically since it is a 4 door fastback with hatchback trunk. Panamera as well.
I have a 2019 KIA Stinger GTS. Could not be happier. EXTREMELY underrated car. A lot of the issues talked about in this video are simply not there... plus the car is really NOT limited by tech stopping the fun. U can literally turn off all the traction and stability trash and send it. My GTS is AWD-D or basically dynamic AWD. I can put it into "Drift mode". Pretty cool stuff for a KIA and I've gotten plenty of compliments and questions. With very little money put in u can easily break 400hp and still have all the reliability. Decent video, but I think it's trying to predict what will happen with the car, when in reality it isn't going that direction, and they left out a lot of stats and numbers about the car.
Had my 2011 Forte Koup SX for 9 years and then finally got my 2020 Stinger GT. Great car for the price. Upgrades are easy and plentiful, too. This is definitely a car that will get people talking to you about it.

I seriously considered one just recently, but I opted in for a Camry Hybrid, the cost saving is just too good to pass. Someday when the prices aren't ridiculous though, I'll get my Stinger too.
I bought a 2020 GT awd stinger and the amount of people that either compliment it , ask what kind of car it is, or confuse it for a higher end car is ridiculous. I can't go anywhere without people trying to talk to me about it. This thing was by far the best purchase I have ever made.

@@att1788L I have yet to tune mine, but the JB4 is very popular in the stinger aftermarket. Combined with intakes and exhaust, it will easily put you over 450whp. The only issues I’ve heard of are because people either didn’t change spark plugs or didn’t regap the oem plugs.

Several people recently have done 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds with Bone 🦴 Stock Kia Stingers. They even have done the quarter mile in 12.55 seconds with a stock car. The Stinger is probably the most underrated sedan on the market today.
I have often thought my Stinger GT is quicker than the published 0-60 mph of 4.7 seconds. having recently driven it on an open country road here in Australia, I am convinced the 4.2 secs in the video is accurate for the stock GT. Love driving mine.
I love my Stinger. I call it the "midlife crisis". Nearly every time I walk out of any store, there is a man or boy looking at my car. They are always blown away that it is a Kia. I love what you said about having the horsepower yet enough room for groceries. The only 2 things that I do not like are the gas tank is to small and there is no trunk release, you must have the keys in hand to open the trunk. Other than that, I LOVE my car! I got the 2020 GT pearl white with red leather. Prior to the Stinger I drove an Optima. I see the Stinger as the older, much sexier sister to my Optima. 😁
Funny..lol. I also previously owned a 2018 Optima and traded for a 2020 Black Stinger GT. I’m a 42 woman..call it my mid life ride. Think I’m the only one in my area with one! I love it!!
Wow, my sister did the same thing - Optima ➡️ Stinger, went to visit her, drove her Stinger. When I got home I traded my '19 Subaru WRX STi for a '22 KIA Stinger GT1 3.3 TT. Compared to the STi, the Stinger is so much more refined, the STi feels like a super fast go kart.
The Kia Stinger is a great vehicle, the vehicle itself didn’t fail the market changed additionally, you’re always going to have people that will shy away because of the badge.

Less buyers, lower price. Its free real estate. Also 5 year bumper to bumper 10 year power train. So.... Idk what's with people breaking the singer but all I've done is regular maintenance (late even) and it runs like day 1.
I absolutely love the stinger, it's my second favorite saloon next to the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. For kia to land second place next to a $70k super saloon from one of the most historic and prestigious italian brands in history is absolutely incredible
The brakes were designed for more “grand touring” work than “driving like you stole it”. That said, swapping to better rotors helps a TON. I drove GT, GT1 and GT2 and got the GT because I disliked all of the electronic nannies the 1 and 2 have. Hold the traction control button down for 10 seconds and you’re 90% free of electronic obstacles to fun! The Stinger is by far the cheapest power ive seen on the market. Its been out since Q3 2017 as a 2018 so, going in 3.5 years out we’re seeing great reliability, plenty of useable power, and an increasingly strong arsenal of aftermarket gear. K8stingerstore.com is a great resource for your body and power mods.
Have a Stinger with 40,000 miles now and had absolute blast with it. I agree about the cross climate 2 tires being something I want to try but also want to make all the wheels the same size so I can rotate front to back.
I’m here to tell everyone this car does not age like he is saying. The materials used in the interior are definitely nice for the price, and a lot nice than a lot of luxury brands. Also, my trunk does not rattle. I really don’t know where he got his information from but it sure seems like he doesn’t like the car. 😂 The only thing I could agree on with him is the rotors issue. But other than that, this car is built very well. It’s a well balanced vehicle. 52K miles on my GT2 and it still feels very new and drives like day 1.
Pretty cool to see a video about the Kia stinger, but although this was released in December, the "face lift" model really does work towards addressing a lot of the issues identified regarding the interior - They now come with a Nappa leather interior, which is something that the Euros do offer, but for a sizable increase in cash. Also regarding the brake setup - the issue isn't the weight, its that the choice of rotor and pad doesn't pair well, and the result is a build up of pad material on the brake rotor surface. Kia will resurface them, and then chuck the same pad and rotor set up back on (not awesome). A lot people have benefitted from after a resurface, putting a different set of pads on. Regarding the rattle in the boot - it seems there is a fix now, they adjust the bump stops, but there are some awesome DIY solutions (FWIW, no real rattle at all on the facelift that I am aware of). The real design flaw for the car is the Direct Injection set up and how much blow by the car has. I have installed a mishimoto catch can and it catches a lot of oil that would otherwise go back into the intake and build up on the back of the valves. VW has a dual injector set up to deal with this, but nothing yet for Kia. but for the positives...there are not of a lot of cars that come with 367hp, AWD and RWD (in RWD with a mechanical LSD) with brembo brakes, full napa leather interior, and all the tech features. If you want a car to track - go buy the i30N, if you want a grand tourer, get the Stinger GT
I’m so happy KDM is becoming more popular in the U.S. I’ve been doing some modding to my Optima the last couple years but I think now it’s time to start saving for a GT2 Stinger.
For over 50k, you could get a low mile ATS V with at least 100hp more, full of luxury, & a couple grand cheaper with a certified warranty.... I mean even a mustang gt would be a better choice IMO.
@@SpinSatx if I’m buying I’m going with new, I don’t like pre-owned. Even a 2019 ATS-V is upwards of $65k which is way too much for me. I’m sorry but I don’t like mustangs at all, not saying they are bad cars or anything just don’t like them.
Even certified, the ATS is far less reliable than the kia and will cost more for the same level of features the stinger throws in. Being a kia, they practically give them away. A brand new loaded stinger gt2 is msrp at $52000, but the dealers are letting then go for more like $40000 all day. A new gt1 can get to $37000. Also, the mustang gt raw performance is way better, but the interior is garbage by comparison... and in an off the line quarter mile the stock awd stinger gt trashes a stock mustang gt every time.
@@jasonquinn4516 and idk about that lol... I have owned the ATS and the ATS V, both had no issues with and the ATS had over 500hp to its little baby 4 cylinder wheels without E85 in the tank.
I've got a stinger, rotor warpage is only really a problem in the us market, never had a problem with trunk rattle but if you get one with a sunroof look out for that rattling
I have one too (2018 GT US model) and from what I've seen on forums, it's not really rotor warpage. It's uneven pad deposits since they use soft pads on the US market ones (US prioritizes quieter pads apparently). Getting rotors turned and swapping to better pads will eliminate any future issues. Only issue I've had (seems others have too) is the roof drip trim pieces paint has cracked a bit. Apparently it's a rubbery piece that doesn't handle expansion and contraction from temp changes too well. Kia replaced it at no charge though. If it ever happens again, I think I'll just wrap em in black vinyl.
I have a blue stinger and I’ve been having this issue with it for 3 years now. Some times, when I hit the accelerator, it accelerate super slow. I mean it is that bad that I have to pull over and turn off/on the engine and it works fine again. I opened a case with Kia and took it to the dealership 3 times and all they tell me is that they can not see anything wrong in the log report of the car. I recorded the issue once and showed them the video but they told me that they need to see the issue in real time. They talk to my like I’m crazy. Well it never got fixed. Well the dealership is only good for oil change to be honest. Other than that safety issue, I like Stinger. Looks cool and like it’s features.
Most people don’t realize that the Stinger has a 3.3 Liter Twin Turbo V6 as opposed to the 3.0 Liter V6 engines that almost all other manufacturers use. It is a torque monster straight from the factory.
My wife dailies our 2020 gt1. I love it, she loves it. Eibach sway bars, mbrp stainless exhaust and ark lowering springs so far. And a child's car seat in back haha.
I got a way around the rattling trunk my Optima for example. Just slap 3000 watts of sound system power into the trunk. 🤣 also sound deadner is a man's best friend lol.
I actually have this car on my list. The only thing that was holding me back is I cannot stand the interior. But then I saw the refresh and instantly want the car again. Might make that purchase next year.
I worked at a Kia dealership and when the stinger first came it that’s all people came for it went from older people only to the younger people to our lot finally.
Interesting video piece. I daily a white Stinger GT. 2 years and reliable so far, only issue is a rattle from the sun roof. The rear suspension could be better tuned, tends to skip mid corner when you hit a bump. Definitely a cruiser, and not a sports car you want to push hard on a curvy road. Still get a kick from the engine and acceleration in sports mode. Lastly, really impressive tech for the price point: HUD, 360 camera, decent audio.
Been good car so far. I have 23k miles and my gf has 42k on her car. Nothing to complain about at all just regular maintenance and it’s been fine. There’s people with these cars with 60-80k miles and been trouble free.
Just watch those early 2018 3.3 engines. Quite a few of them had metal shavings in the block and heater cores from the casting process. Did some Longblocks and heater boxes under warranty when I worked at Kia. But these cars have some serious potential, oh man. So surprising
Have had a '19 gt2 awd since April and I loooooooove it. Best overall car I've owned and I'm planning/hoping on keeping it as my daily for the next decade (in part thanks to the warranty covering most of that time). Plus, the rattling noise and other hiccups that the KIA has (but you would know more since you own one and better comment on that than i would). And another grip that I found out is the second row leg room, it's a joke in the KIA, the Arteon is ridiculously spacious.

Exactly why my Stinger GT is AWD. I had a 2016 civic and it was so bad in the snow.

Here in Australia we don't get the AWD version. I have the GT with the bimodal exhaust which is the top model here. When you take into consideration the performance, standard features, driving experience and the warranty, there is not much, if anything, in its class that offers so much for the price.
It is a brilliant car that is fantastic on a long drive and great to drive around the suburbs.

As an owner of a 2019 GT2, I'd say this is a pretty fair review.
The rotor problem is actually due to the OEM brake pads, and the issue can be resolved aftermarket pads.

The stinger is more comfortable and practical, the Giulia QF is definitely more performance oriented. Both badass cars

BMW. Bavarian Murder Weapon?
Ive driven the 2.0T and it feels like it can have more its a bit less than what you would expect, but no turbo lag thats cool
I currently have that model as well. I wish I had the gt tbh
@@jasonquinn4516 the top of the line stinger is also like 10k more new... dodge has cheaper performance options that blow the stinger out the water.

Just watch those early 2018 3.3 engines. Quite a few of them had metal shavings in the block and heater cores from the casting process. Did some Longblocks and heater boxes under warranty when I worked at Kia.
But these cars have some serious potential, oh man. So surprising
I have a blacked out Stinger GT and I literally get stopped three times a week by people from all walks of life just asking me “wtf is that thing”
IKR, nearly every gas station. “What kind of car that is?”.... “”Who makes it?”.... “Damn!! That’s a Kia?!! 😮”
Gay car
@@gj1735 you right should’ve got the Rio hatchback
@@gj1735 the car you're trying to mock and you have something in common
just bought a stinger 2022 this car is amazing!!!
Have had a '19 gt2 awd since April and I loooooooove it. Best overall car I've owned and I'm planning/hoping on keeping it as my daily for the next decade (in part thanks to the warranty covering most of that time). Just got it ceramic coated last week plus got my weather tech mats in it for winter so we will see how it does in the snow and ice.
How did it do in the snow and ice? Also, weather tech mats are top tier
I love my stinger. I get the usual “that’s a kia?” Or “what is that?”
How about "So You Want a Infiniti Q50"
I had Kia's for 20 years, very reliable cars.
