I'm also going to Spiel for the first time, doing 3 days on my side, very excited! Minecart Town is one of the games I'm the most looking to play, looks really fun! Cardboard East did a review on it if you want to learn more about it! Hope you have fun at Essen!
Thank you for covering Raas: A Dance of Love. I will be happy to give you the exclusive first look demo at the Arcane Wonders booth 😊. Spoiler - The game looks 10x better than the prototype pics on the BGG page 😊.
Notification gang!!! Spiel looks so fun - definitely on my bucket list to go one year. Love both bird games you mentioned and I’m so excited for you to be getting a calico sequel 😻 Edit: oh thank you for the shout out buddy! Love playing games with you too from across the pond
Btw, yes, birds and cats are cute and having them in games always catches my eye. They remind me of my own cute cat and bird (conure). And yes, they get along quite well.
Great list of interesting games, I've put a few of them on my list now too. Thanks :) I still have Flatiron on my list. The game is from the authors of The White Castle. I also love The White Castle and Flatiron sounded very interesting. Four days at the fair is not too much, especially if you are there for the first time, you are overwhelmed by the huge offer. You will then have enough time to look at everything and possibly try it out. I wish you a lot of fun at Essen Spiel.
As a German who lived in the Region of Essen an got to attend multiple times I would say it is smart to go all four days for starters: You'll be able to see how things are on the different days, which days are super-full and which are a little bit more relaxed and will be able to assess, if it will be worth your time, stress and money (travel-expenses) to return in the future. I really hope you get to enjoy your stay!
So excited for you going to Essen Spiel for the first time! Just be careful not to break the bank! Some of the games I'm interested in include Dorfromantic Sakura, Kyoto no Neko, Middle Ages, Knitting Circle and Seti. Really looking forward to your reactions and opinions as I'm also a fan of tile placement games and games that have solo variants. Have a wonderful time in Essen.
Yes, break the bank if you must. There are many ways to break the bank, can't think of a better way than to buy board games that you 're sure to enjoy.
