When writing my answer, I realised just how many games I was looking forward to playing/buying. I think my bank will thank me for not going to Essen this year 🤣 My list is: 1am Jailbreak, Daitoshi, Spectacular, Nukumi Onsen Kaitakuki (Demo), Bomb Busters, Lone Wolves, Seers Catalogue, Shadow House: The Code, Tokkuri Taking, Panda Panda, Flatiron, Salt Fjord, The Yellow House, LotR: Duel for Middle Earth, Tree Society, Minecart Town, Milkuro, Quiet House, Mon Formosa Tea would be on my list if I hadn't backed the Kickstarter.
Totally agree on number one. I love 7 Wonders Duel on BGA, but I hate tracking resource costs in the physical game. As silly as it sounds I plan on upgrading simply because missing resources will always cost one in LotR Duel.
I'm sorry you weren't able to get to Essen this year. I always enjoy your vlogs about it. I also enjoy your lists, teaches and playthroughs. Thank you so much for all you do! I backed Black Forest, being a huge Uwe fan. I love Glass Road, so I can't wait to see how this game presents. Thanks again!
We hope to go back again next year if possible! It’s such a nice convention 🙂. Hopefully we can get a copy of Black Forest so we can see the differences with Glass Road.
32:23 - The same designer also has Galileo Galilei from Pink Troubadour coming out in Europe only right now (they are looking for an American Publisher to bring it to the US), and Tea Garden from Albi coming out at Spiele. 😊
20:49 - There is also the Dante’s Inferno board game that is a dungeon crawler by Creative Games Studio. Definitely the year of many board games sharing a theme. 😊
I pledged Inferno and received it and played it a couple of weeks ago. I liked it a lot, but I would recommend it for 3-4 players because at two it feels like there is too much countering each other. Components are amazing!
What a nice video. I just recieved a few days ago my KS copy of Inferno. There are some How to play videos on RUclips, quite the final rules, you can rely on them. I'm looking forward to trying my first game on Tuesday!
I look forward to the German release of Raising Robots, as well as Fliptown. Both were too pricey to import so far, but I've played the digital version of RR quite a few times.
Really proud of Rôla and Costa for their "Stephen's" 🙂 I and Angie also love 2-player games, so "Flatiron", "Lone Wolves" and "The Yellow House" are in our pre-order list! I am sad that you will not attend Essen, it would be great to meet you in person. Maybe next year! 😊 All the best! - André Santos
Thanks for this video! On the bus to Essen as I watch it putting together my must-see list. I played Inferno at last years Essen and really like it. Just waiting for my KS copy :)
Newsboys is definitely fun. I hope you find a copy of this roll/flip and write. I have bought several Saashi & Saashi titles from Tanuki Games in Austin.
Luckily I live 30 minutes away from Essen, and this year I placed some pre-orders to make sure I get the games. These are the games I will definitely get: - SETI - Beyond The Horizon - Black Forest - Explorers Of Navoria - Galileo Galilei - Saltfjord - Shackleton Base - Spectacular - Ironwood (pledged on KS and picking it up at Spiel) - Nucleum Expansion And pre-ordered Civolution and The White Castle Expansion somewhere else, for a pretty good price. Love your videos…keep up the good word!
Your number one game is already pray ordered and I hoped arrives soon. Sadly I've e never been to essen despite living in Germany. So I guess it's a must next year and hope to see you guys there :)
I was able to play Shackleton Base at WSBG and loved it. That with SETI and Daitoshi are the games I am most looking forward to adding to my collection. Excluding Galactic Cruise and Unconscious Minds which I kickstarted.
Great video! I LOVE the Lord of the Rings Duel game, I was fortunate to try a prototype of it at UK Games Expo. The dual layer chase track and the area control elements really make it feel different enough to the original but still has that excellent core mechanic of the card drafting. Also loved Perspectives and like you only completed the first two cases, so keen to get this new one when I finish the third case. Hopefully see you at the next Spiel show!
If your looling for saashi and saashi games i managed to find bus & stop, come sail away, and in front of the elevator from BOARD GAME BLISS here in richmond hill canada. They import alot of saashi games.
I hope to go sometime in the future if my budget allows. But I bought a couple of nice games. The white castle. Distilled (played) also hard to get and exp,for nucleum =)
It’s a really fun convention, so hope you will have a chance down the road! We are curious to see what the Nucleum expansion adds, I believe their last expansion was a different map?
When SETI was listed as 2 I was a little surprised because I had expected it to take the top slot (and is my number 1). But I had overlooked Lord of the Rings Duel because I don't play 2 player games myself and it makes perfect sense. I really enjoyed this list, though I would have been interested in hearing about some expansions you are looking forward to during the honourable mentions section.
Thanks for another insightful video. 🙂 Kanal *is* a reprint of Oranienburger Kanal and includes the expansion card sets. It's just an artwork change sfaik. It's possible there have been some card tweaks based on feedback from the original release. Black Forest, I heard, was pitched (I assume in a less developed form) by Uwe at the same time as Glass Road and the publishers went with Glass Road. I can't recall where I heard that, though so it may be apocryphal. I'm excited to get my copy of Unconscious Mind. Also interested in Civolution.
Love The Yellow House. That, Mesos and Altay are my top 3 most anticipated. I saw the low scores on BGG and wondered if it's people expecting a lighter game than it is because it's quite a hard game to be good at!
The publisher of inferno contacted you guys. Give their games a shot they are of a very high quality in terms of production and more than just mechanically sound. I am sure Naveen would love Tindaya as well as Inferno.
Guys, i love your channel also duet to you are smart in our European Old style meaning: know a lot about history (like earthquake in Portugal), art, books (writers like Orwell or Dante),, etc. This is obvious for us, but not for most Americans, mainly focused on local stuff. You even play mainly in eurogames 😂 seriously, you are unique! Love watching you and content provided by you. Great job !
Great list! I was surprised Little Alchemist didn't make it into your honorable mentions! I know it's been a lot of your top tier lists and I'm excited to check out a new version of it.
Inferno just arrived from KS last week - looks awesome but haven't played it yet. Same with Andromeda's Edge. Wish I was going to EssenSpiel but anyway... Games on your list I am looking forward to: Resafa, Men-Nefer, Stephens, Flatiron, Daitoshi. Others: 7 Empires, Babylon, Speakeasy, Shackleton Base, Minos, Galileo Galilei.
😊 your number one is pre-ordered already and I hope it arrives soon. Sadly I've never been to essen despite living in Germany. I guess it's a must next year. Hope to catch you guys there. Oh and one game I'm sad that there's no German release is River of Gold. Saw your video and was hooked. Guess I'll just get the English copy then.
I've pre-ordered a few games from my FLGS coming out in October or early November (hopefully no delays) including the reprint of Finca. I still want to check out some of the games mentioned here but the only one that I am definitely getting is LOTR Duel. Bruno Cathala two player? I'm in. Splendor Duel is still my favorite though, not 7 Wonders.
Thank you for the list! I also have lone wolves on my list and looking forward to Flatiron as well. 😊 Which trick taking game do you two enjoy most at two players so far?
We try and not be intrusive with them, but they also literally help keep the channel going and allow one of us to work full time in the industry. Oh, and it helps us pay for healthcare in America.
This episode is brought to you by *One Last Fight* - ttmm.site/fhaDh9
What upcoming games are you looking forward to?
Firefighters On Duty
Shackleton Base, Daitoshi, Phoenix New Horizon and SETI.
SETI is my number one anticipated game. I am looking forward to getting my hands on it. Thanks for the video!

Formosa Tea would be on my list if I hadn't backed the Kickstarter.
Great choices everyone! ☺️
- SETI
- Galileo Galilei
- Phoenix: New horizon
- Saltfjord
- Minos: Dawn of the bronze age
- Shackleton base
- Civolution
doing gods work fam
I believe these are their picks hahahaha!
Totally agree on number one. I love 7 Wonders Duel on BGA, but I hate tracking resource costs in the physical game. As silly as it sounds I plan on upgrading simply because missing resources will always cost one in LotR Duel.
I love this channel! Love you guys! I hope you keep on making great BG videos!

Spaking of Suchy series, can't wait until you play Woodcraft.
My wife and I got Bus & Stop during a visit to Austin (Tanuki Games). We love it. Plays great at 2!
That’s great to hear!! 🚌 & 🛑
20:49 - There is also the Dante’s Inferno board game that is a dungeon crawler by Creative Games Studio. Definitely the year of many board games sharing a theme. 😊
"That's right!" @15:38... for those looking for the signature.
I pledged Inferno and received it and played it a couple of weeks ago. I liked it a lot, but I would recommend it for 3-4 players because at two it feels like there is too much countering each other. Components are amazing!

Hope it's great! Someone else in the comments recommended 3-4 players over 2P.
I look forward to the German release of Raising Robots, as well as Fliptown. Both were too pricey to import so far, but I've played the digital version of RR quite a few times.
Hope they arrive in Germany soon!!

Yeah they are great designers! Sounds like you also like our kind of games 😊
Thanks for this video! On the bus to Essen as I watch it putting together my must-see list. I played Inferno at last years Essen and really like it. Just waiting for my KS copy :)
Hope you have a great time!!
Newsboys is definitely fun. I hope you find a copy of this roll/flip and write. I have bought several Saashi & Saashi titles from Tanuki Games in Austin.
Heard great things about it from last year, I wonder if Tanuki ships???

That’s a great list! Saltfjord and Shackleton Base were also debated to put on our list. So many great sounding games this year!
Your number one game is already pray ordered and I hoped arrives soon. Sadly I've e never been to essen despite living in Germany. So I guess it's a must next year and hope to see you guys there :)

My copy of LOTR Duel arrives today and so does my Kickstarter version of Unconscious Mind! Two of my most anticipated games 👍
That's exciting! We hope to get a copy soon!

It sounds so fun!

Oh I was expecting Civolution. Anyways I am curious on SETI and Men-Nefer seems the type of game I like the most.
We try not to repeat games on our anticipated lists. We had Civolution ranked highly on our most anticipated for 2024.
Great list! I was surprised Little Alchemist didn't make it into your honorable mentions! I know it's been a lot of your top tier lists and I'm excited to check out a new version of it.

Lord of the rings duel, rebirth, and Yro!
Oh I remember Majolica was my first Essen too!
SETI looks amazing but I can’t wait to play Galileo! Also by Holek. Big year for him with SETI, Galileo and Tea Garden.
Thanks for making me want to get even more games. 🙄 Stephens, Black Forest and Daitoshi. 👌
hyped about ditoshi! please post a playthrough if you get the chance.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
I am anticipating an announcement on the Oceania expansion to Darwin's Journey. The kickstarter project should be live "later this year"
Recently, in an interview in Mishigeek twitch channel, Thundergryph told that KS campaign will occur around January
@@jesusfernandezgarcia1025 thank you!
majolica is back!
Monique, where'd you get that shirt?! It's adorable.
I would love to see a top list of saashi and saashi games :)
SOMETHING is being delivered to me tomorrow, and I think it's Inferno...
I believe Saashi & Saashi are husband & wife designer and artist.
Ahh didn’t know that!
Thank you for the list! I also have lone wolves on my list and looking forward to Flatiron as well. 😊
Which trick taking game do you two enjoy most at two players so far?
We both really like a game called “Claim”. Lots of different expansion decks that you can mix and match in the game!
Need a link for Naveens shirt. Love a nice t-shirt. Great color!
At 15:07 Monique looks appalled by his choice of words. LOL
Have you heard of Millennia? I think it is great but nobody talks about it.
I just cant believe i won the LOTR: duel for middle earth from no shipping auction 😮😮
Inferno is bomb
Please use chapters in videos like these.

You wang. Or wang you. 😗😶
babble?
Bable hehe 😜
Man, you guys love your sponsorships these days.
Honestly, it’s better than my 9-5
And who can blame them? I don't think it's overdone. I don't mind when it's such a good channel.
We try and not be intrusive with them, but they also literally help keep the channel going and allow one of us to work full time in the industry. Oh, and it helps us pay for healthcare in America.
