More and more I'm so impressed with Darwin. Impressed with them all, of course, but Darwin sneaks in here and there and blows me away.
Still love this song after all these years!!!
Love Darwin on the Lead and Tim Backing his brother up smooth as silk while then mixing in with the girls on background without skipping a beat! I said it before and I will say it again Maggie and Sammie are Priceless!!!! Two ladies meant to harmonize together! Both killer soloists as well.
RUclips algorithm doing this one a disservice by not promoting it more.
Darwin you knocked this one out of the park.
Thank goodness somebody had the forethought to record this entire performance. Still in awe after 10 years...
It was intended to be a one time only performance for the group. I believe they said by the end of the evening they were talking about doing more.Johnny Pike said he was there as a new member of the Mustangs and said he became a fossil that night and Toby was the sound man for the show.
How in the world could that much talent just be a one-off? 😳
@@cbartek7902 Read the about us section on the website. It came about because the Mustangs lost all their big corporate gigs, and Tim got the idea to do a project with Sammie and Maggie.
Totally agree with all of that… I have now become hooked on them and I’ve been watching all their videos here on RUclips but this initial performance just blows me away… Spot on music and harmonies and they are without a doubt not only the best cover band that nobody’s ever heard of but just one of the best bands all around… They don’t tour, they have never had a recording contract but their live and in studio videos are just amazing… So glad I now subscribe to them...The two young girls especially just amaze me with their vocals 🎼🎤🥁🎸🎹🎸
@@stephenlondon3363 They used to be the band nobody heard of, 30 million views in the past year(82000/day).There are comments on here from fans in about 35 countries worldwide. Last night an interview of Chase and Tim was on Remember When Radio and he played 15 of their songs over the next 2 hours. He has followers from all over.
I've seen about all of the biggest groups in my many year on this planet including Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. I almost never go to a concert any more because there's no one worth spending money on but I would pay to see these people in a heart beat.
Likewise...seen them all, but would pay major cash to see these folks live and in person!
With you brother. I'm 67, played in bands since I was 13, and I am now addicted to this crew. I can only guess what they had to go through to get this tight. And the incredible born-with vocal gifts. Thank you, Thank you Maggie, Sammie, and Tim . . . . and co-conspirators.) :] :] :] (Tim, I know you did it.)
@@rutherfordhaze No where your pedigree, but I played in my youth. Now age 78. I totally echo your above thoughts.
Yes if time travel existed. This is 8 years old and they don't really exist any more, very sadly.. Still, they live on in YOutube and they still have a web site where there are a couple albums on sale.
@@dnmurphy48 not true! they are doing more covers. check out home page
As a former professional Live Sound Mixer, this group has the tightest vocal harmonies that I have heard in a long time. They are all on key and distinct.
Well said and true
only Crosby Stiles Nash & Young come close
and what's crazy is this was their first live performance and to be that good I agree with you 100%
The power that those young ladies add to the chorus here is absolutely ridiculous. I've listened to bands that harmonize most of my life. They are seasoned professionals. These two are all of maybe 15 and 16 here and they are equal, if not superior, to 99% of what I've listened to over the past 62 years. They are truly gifted, as perfect harmonizing usually takes time to achieve.
Brand new band at the time. First concert they ever did. The musicians were seasoned professionals. The girls had sung a lot in school and church chorus.
Watching this tonight it struck me that Darwin was on fire that night. He shined on several songs both as a guitarist and vocalist. It took me several years to appreciate what the fossils contributed that night. I was too bedazzled by the lovely girls and their amazing harmonies.
And Tim STILL has not posted A Man of Constant Sorrow (Darwin lead) Cruel to be Kind (Scott lead) and several more from this show.
@@lynwessel2471 What will it take to get him to?
@@TurboMountTV Beats me. March '21 he announced that he would post them, there would be 2 videos each month, one new and one from the Bella's show. 2 of the 8 remaining were posted no word on why he stopped.
@@lynwessel2471 I wish there was some collection / playlist / arrangement by year / show to follow rather then random order it comes on YT. Would be nice to have the entire performance(s) in 1 spot.
@@TurboMountTV Either click on the F&F logo and start with "Suite" on their video list and go up, or I have "Foxes and Fossils at Bellas 3-14-10" playlist of that concert's songs in order. I also have "Foxes and Fossils" all the music videos in order newest to oldest, except the Christmas songs, see "Foxes and Fossils Christmas" (and see also "The Mustangs Lyn Wessel" playlist.) Search Foxes and Fossils Lyn Wessel. (Note: Always watch videos with the F&F logo so they get credit for the views. There's rip off channels out there)
Inching toward that 600,000 mark. Should be more than that really, this is very, very good.
This Song does not get enough recognition Its Beautiful I Tell YA!!
Who gave them thumbs down??? Idiots. These guys are awesome period.
This is what made the music great during the Renaissance of music through the 60's thru the 80's, - pure, not over produced, not synthesised music, just pure talent and pure music talent. Thank you Foxes and Fossils!
There is just no substitute for pure talent and the discipline and work it takes to hone that talent into what we hear with this group! I find myself lingering on their You Tube performances all the time.
This has got to be some of the best 3-part harmony ever.
I really don't understand why this song doesn't have 1,000,000 Views.
I keep looking for more videos from this group. Found this today. Excellent ...if they had appeared in the 60s they would have been filling stadiums. All live, pure talent...no over production nothing to disguise any flaws or mistakes ...just pure MUSIC
No need to look for them. Click on their round picture above for the complete video list.
If they had appeared in the 60's it would have been a miraculous event indeed! :)
Thats a very spot on comment
Is it my imagination or is this one getting a lot more views lately? I think it’s one of the best ones that the Foxes and Fossils have done. Darwin is simply outstanding on this one!
@David Larson / At the end of July last year it had 174,000 views (in nine years), so yes it’s definitely on a roll...
Totally agree it's a fabulous track ☺️ Wish they would rerecord it
Darwin is so good that he could be considered 'the origin of the species.'
Seen all the others, never this one. Happy now
Can not get enough of this song from the great F&F
These ladies put themselves out in front of some classic guitar playing, then add some rich harmony. It's like every member of this band is giving their best to a musical force. Thank you for what seeks like an easy sound of some very classic rock.
Under rated.
Pack my bags and never look back
Run a parallel line with the railroad tracks
And make my getaway...
OMG the harmonies. OMG OMG OMG
Darwin has MAD guitar skills!!
Listen to this song over and over; absolute masterpiece
There harmonies are smoken one of my favorites a classic
The girls were 15&16
Tim Purcell you're a bloody genius. Thanks Buddy...
Just a great song performed brilliantly.
Half million views! 500,013 as of 5 April 2021 5:10am EDT (UTC-4).
Darwin just crushes this.
Some real great guitar picking going there !!
This is a fantastic song done to perfection...incredible. I hope I get to see them someday. I listen to this several times a week. Your best performance in my mind, and you have a LOT of them.
You will get that chance! Two live shows scheduled, December 29 & 30 2022, in Hapeville, near the Atlanta airport. Ticket details should appear very soon, but it's solid enough to make your travel arrangements.
TOP SHELF !!!
Cover bands don't get any better than this. Fabulous synchronised hamonies.
I AGREE TOTALLY
Yep, I couldn't agree more.
I agree also. Beyond belief. Should be a household name cover band.
You can have great instrumentals but if the harmonies are off it ruins everything. These guys are so tight.
I'm binging on all of the video's. Holy crap "batman". Absolutely fabulous. Can't say enough other than "MORE PLEASE SIR".
These guys are great!!
Almost 10 years on from this show... and they're STILL FN killin' it !!! Oh man I love all these brothers and sisters!
Loved to discover you people here. Thanks for post all amazing videos. Best wishes from Brasil.
This band has me hooked. They are all so talented. I love all the harmony. They are too good for today's mainstream music scene.
This is an extremely astute point.
If they go mainstream.... Win grammy
Then another big time band ... Hope not .....just wish there could have a following on a tour
🙏
I hope that after the CV-19 episode is past one result of the “self quarantine period” has been successful the million people that have now discovered F&F and a tour can be realized, for all!
I actually found these guys when I was looking for Home Free's "Seven Bridges Road". Lo and behold, there's another version. Let's see what this one is about........I haven't turned them off since. They are absolutely phenomenal.
The ooh ooh oohs still give me the chills!
I love this song just as much as Dance With Me that they just released. Just incredible!
I keep listening to this … it’s awesome !
Way back when....they were great then as they are now.
There is so much talent in this band that it is truly unreal. When I heard the lead guitarist sing this song I just about flipped. It just overwhelms that a wonderful group like this can just slide by under the radar with some RUclips success and not really hitting the big time. I hope I heard so much more from you in the future as I am currently spending several hours surfing through your incredible catalog of cover music. Much applause and thanks.
bigbro44 I agree 100%.. I've glued to this little band since I tripped over it on RUclips. I think the two CDs arrived today... I haven't purchased music that way in 10+ years... If they go live again I'm flying to the east coast just to witness this awesomeness live... I'll be able to say that to my grandkids one day...
I have to say the same, unbelievable, better than a lot of top bands I've heard that have made it to the top. And 2014 was the last of it. Such good listening, people pay big money to be entertained, by a band like this. Definitely not amateur.
R P they gave it up??? What a shame, they are top shelf, better than the crap the music industry pushes on us.
big man really shines here
@@5cinchWish I knew guitarists name that was playing in the 2010/2011 era. Is he still with the 2017-2019 band ? TOBY RUCKERT is playing with them now...assume it's not the same guy.
Friggin Flawless.. Luv u guys! Harmonies are flawless!..
Harmonies and drive is awesome thanks for the great performance , Keep up with what you love!
Freaky good vocals and the guitar work is as amazing as the vocals...
Man.... Every one in this band can sing! How are they not the biggest thing in music?
Almost the same quintet on a single stage, albeit Tim's basement studio, into one microphone. One Fox added since 2010, and bassman Scott has his part flown in separately, but they're all there with a fantastic cover of Five Royales/Shirelles/Mamas & Papas "Dedicated to the One I Love", recorded Summer 2019. If you haven't already checked it out, please do so.

Beautiful harmonies and two beautiful young ladies!!
What a shame it took Covid for me to find this group. I missed a whole decade of fabulous music. Isn’t rock and roll wonderful. Generations of musicians in this group alone. Thanks gals and guys.
If only someone would package their wonderful story; produce all this material as their in chronological order as their short but impeccable musica journey; then find a way to present it on a venue for all to see. There have never been covers like this. New viewers won't believe it, and will get hooked just like all of us here.
Sorry for the typos ... all this material in chronological order .... music journey.
That would be great if they would do this
HULU or NETFLIX or AMAZON prime.
Would make a really cool "netfix" or amazon or hbo production ... yet I trust not netflix or amazon nor hbo give Tim & Co. & F &F artistic control
Subscribing to their Patreon at some level gets you a lot of what you suggested above. I'm at one of the middle tiers, which lets me access a lot of stuff that is otherwise not publicly available. Separately, they are finally getting some press coverage, and a formal Wikipedia article is in the works.
Never heard this song before. I like it a-lot.
After listening to this band for several months now, I believe they should be invited to play at the White House. They sing and play every song better than the original.
They're wonderful - so please don't punish them!
@@mattgoldberg4335 Maybe when Biden gets there:}
ONE OF THE GREATEST COUNTRY BANDS OF THIS CENTURY !
Excellent sound everyone! Love it! 🎉
If we didn’t live in such a musically depraved era, these people would be recording stars at the top of the charts.
TOP !! Congrats !!
OMG guys those harmonies are so haunting, esp when Tim goes high on the first "runaway". Fantastic break away guitar lead that was played with style and Verve. Great Bass, and lively Ladies....You did it again. Icing on the cake. Just great. I'm Australian and love you guys as much as our own home grown bands - if not just a touch more. You're proof that you don't need all the trappings of the so called big Time ....to be Superstars. No other channel has elicited such unanimous heartfelt praise as you guys have garnered and you deserve it. BRAVO. Emily Liberty the Aussie 🇦🇺 🌏 🎹🎻🎼
Thanks. amazing to be heard around the World...
The Fossils really shined on this one!
Love this song run away great voices
There is a lot of talent in this group!
The girls have certainly matured vocally since this early concert. They have improved their tonality and volume control among other aspects of their performance. And yet, I love coming back to listen to this show. The song selection - thanks Tim- is superb, and the girls always hold up their end. And Darwin is, as always, spectacular. He never overplays, just ties the songs together instrumentally.
This was their very first show. It was supposed to be a one -off fun winter project until it turned out so well... 12 1/2 years later they're still posting music for us and 5 years after they thought they had played their last, they're planning concerts again.
If this was 12 years ago and Sammie started at 12, she'd be 24. But I think she's 26-27. She looks 14 in video + 12 would make her 26 - 27. So her age here would be 14ish. This means this occurred about 2 years after she started not at 12, when she started.
@@joeboxter3635 Sammie will be 28 in December. Maggie turned 29 in September.
@@lynwessel2471 Wish I was 20 years younger - heck 10. Lol. I'd high tale it to Georgia and start courting that harmonic girl. Lol.
@@joeboxter3635 At the time of this concert, Sammie 15, Maggie 16.
Love me some Darwin!!
Whats amazing is that they manage to do live, what the original groups struggled take after take to get perfect in the studio...Very Impressive!
Damn!! Their harmonies....absolutely amazing! Nice job doesn't seem like nearly enough to say.
Just when I think they can't do any better songs this happens. What great talent and harmony they all have. And Darwin can really play and sing. He is on the far left in the video.
great harmonies
this group is world class, as good as anything i've heard live.
Wow just wow!
When I clicked on this from my suggested list,I didn't know what to expect,,,,what a surprise, ,,great talent, ,,,great harmony,,,very impressed!
70 excellent cover songs on this channel. (Click on their round picture above)
It's rather strange after that great performance, you realize that the audience is just a few people. Wow, I am glad they filmed it.
It was a fun winter project and was going to be their only show until it turned out so well. They filmed it as a keepsake thinking few would ever watch it. Well here they are 11 years and 53 million views later still making music together. New video March 17th 7 pm Eastern.
@@lynwessel2471 And now we're finding out that the show really was a week earlier, March 14.
@@StuartMStrickland Interesting, did Tim just forget by time he posted them?
@@lynwessel2471 No idea. But both Darwin and one of the audience members posted in the Facebook fan club about reminders they got today for the concert 11 years ago. Also interesting that the March 2010 and March 2021 calendars have the 14th/21st on Sundays.
The lead guitar is amazing. Hope he is still making great music! Fantastic musicians! This was truly a special night of beautiful music. So wish I could have been there.
You can hear Darwin pretty well on their "Seven Bridges Road". He's the low voice.
Love, love love those harmonies!!!
I love how it all sounds so easy.
so good...inspired song choice for a harmony group that can punch it...this is a bit different than most F&F...but its the same, in the sense that its so high end. Darwin and Tim can sing it sweet, and when the girls kick in, it gets kinda perfect. This is one of their under rated efforts. Gives me lil chills.
Lord, such talent....just utterly memorable
Man, I wish I could "like" this video every time I've come back to watch it.
Wow! what more can you say.
Spread the word so others can enjoy FnF
This is my new favorite - Darwin and Tim are awesome
So good! Love it.
I love this so much. Terrific arrangement, vocal harmonies, lead guitar.
Would love to hear a new studio version of Runaway!
Keep coming back to " LIVE AT BELLAS" so good
FYI...F&F plans on releasing their last eight songs recorded at Bella’s in March 2010. Probably one per month. Look forward to another awesome song featuring Darwin!
This is darn near 10 years ago. Please don't ever stop.
You know , this video is a little like the early days of Abba , when the guys used to sing . But suddenly, the girls started to make such an impact with their voices . And , now , years later . Listen to the angelic harmonies F&F put out . Jut like Abba . I mean this in the best way possible
This group was formed for the girls to sing in. Especially for their harmony, not necessarily singing lead.
I'd like to hear them do some Abba
excellent vocals and harmonies.
There Harmonies are absolutely MAJOR LEAGUE!!!
Two groups I follow these guys and HSCC they are both great
First time I have heard the fossils in full display. I understand now where the girls get their talent. Well done gentlemen
I am a new fan they are fantastic love covers to songs I grew up with
Impressed again.....10+
Man, that guitar work is exquisite.
They never let me down! Love their music!
Ya'll are just too good. What a joy to watch and listen too. Just about as down home as anything can get. Though I wish you great success financially, I hope you never leave the parking lots, parks, and other small venues. Thanks for making my day brighter.
They left the small venues for Tim's Studio.See the video list at Tims channel( click on round picture of Tim and Sammie)Ten years later they are simply incredible. Also see foxesandfossils.com for bios "about us"
only one word.....MAGNIFICENT!!!
I listen to other bands' covers of this song from time to time, including the original artist (Love & Theft), just so I can come back to this first concert by F&F and sit in awestruck amazement how much better this is - better played, better sung, better arranged, better filmed, better recorded. The whole package!
How come I’ve only just found these guys. Awesome.....I’m hooked
Every song you do, guys, I get hooked...great instrumentation and great harmonization...
Kodu's to this Group Awesome Song!! Amazing
Everything F&F does is fantastic. 100 thumbs down are from the jealous wannabe cover bands who wish they could sound like this. Keep it up Tim and all, love all your stuff.
Amen!
They are just fantastic. I listen to this just about everyday.....they are such a hidden jewel in the music World.
Honestly I really wonder if they realized just how good they are, am so glad they're back making music again!
The overwhelming response on You Tube persuaded them to reunite this summer and record seven new covers. The first one is out.
@@mbturner6 yeah saw it, was great to see and hear them again, I'm trying to spread the word
Simply Brilliant!!
Fantastic, superb music, and master artists. Thank you! Keep on doing it, forever!
They have the harmonies of Fleetwood Mac; awesome. I hope they can stay together for years to come.
