After being repeatedly hypnotized by the girl's singing its easy to forget to realize how good singer Tim is.
A long time musician here.These harmonies are perfection. This is a cover band on steroids. Absolute perfection...And this is live!!!
And the first gig they ever played
Five part harmony never sounded better. Having played many years in bands i know the practice that goes into performing songs. Here you have three older musicians and two teenage school girls in such perfect unison. Harmony is a very delicate sound and you have to have "matched" voices for it to be tops. CSN is a case in point but in this song you have perfect mix, perfect pitch and vocal perfection. My opinion here is that the girls ( who don't even look at each other) are so naturally gifted that practice is merely just sorting out the rough edges. A masterful performance and long live F&F.
In the 'about us' section on the website Tim described working with the girls for this first show as "seldom did they need direction, and when they did it was usually just a brief discussion followed by perfection".

F&F has bios on line of all the performers. The girls had been singing in a church choir for about ten years before becoming part of F&F. I think they had done most of the practicing they would ever need at this point.

The Mamas and the Papas did this in a studio and most of their performances on TV were lip synced.You nailed it and i know. This song was a hit when I was in high school. You are so talented. Praying that you will get the recognition and success you deserve.

Huh! I was just thinking the same thing. He really had a great range and really handle every one from Denny to Steven Stills. BTW, I remember that ran home the day this song came out to see it for the first time on Ninth Street West in Los Angeles in 1966.

I was just remembering myself running home that day in 1966 to catch the debut of this song on Ninth Street West, TV show in L. A. Only 13, but boy I was a Mamas and Papas fan.
I was looking for a local Ottawa, Canada band and came upon you guys by accident, holy crap, you guys are VERY good and I will listen to all of your videos in due time. Your harmonies are heavenly, glad I made this Musical Mistake, a new fan in Ottawa Canada :)

Bob Vogel Well, I’m 71 and been in the music business since I was 15, so not as long as you but still, I concur. I’ve been in a few great vocal bands (with Columbia Records, worked at Chess, did a lot of jingle work in Chicago, etc.) but this group blows me away every time I see and hear a new video from them. And to be honest, I’m jealous. Ever since I moved to this one horse town in the southwest I have found absolutely no one with the talent to harmonize like these folks.
I am 67 also, and this group is really good! Allow me to introduce you also to Leonid and friends who plays Chicago better than Chicago. You are welcome.

This band is pretty good, and this particular performance is very nice. They often seem to lack energy to me, unfortunately, even though they sound good and are technically quite proficient. But seriously, you really need to check out Leonid and Friends. Next level.

This group of singers and musicians is one of my favorites of all time. And I’m old! I actually prefer most of their offerings over the originals. Great job F&F and thank you for sharing your talents with us.
For anyone old enough to remember the Mamas and Papas it is nothing less than shocking how well F&F covered this song. If if I'm not mistaken it was the first time they performed together. There really are no words to accurately explain how good this cover is.

The people who gave a thumbs down on this must be suffering from partial deafness, depression or some other disorder that prevented the beauty of this recording from penetrating their senses. Typical F&F - Great!

This was their first on-stage appearance, same 2010 concert as "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes". The girls are 15 and 16 years old here.

This group is great in all their songs, but I'm telling you, they can do the Mamas and Papas songs as good as the Mama and Papas. Wow, just Wow. I'm a sixties guy and the Mamas and Papas were one of my favorite groups.

One thing that gets me is that Sammie and Maggie sing these incredibly tight harmonies without even once looking at each other. I have been in the studio and usually singers have to maintain eye contact to even come close to this level of synchronicity.
Yup. The timing is always perfect and so is the pitch, whether they are singing in unison or one above the other. By the time they made it to the basement studio in the past few months, the whole bunch had perfected five-part harmony to the point that listeners routinely fall off their chairs. If one day we are all allowed to fly across the world from Australia after covid-19, I have got it into my head that I want to sit through a few of the Foxes & Fossils 'live' shows. I just can't seem to get enough of your music and your talent -- even after buying 14 songs just recently. I want more. And having watched a moment ago Maggie sing so superbly Let It Be Me (Everly Brothers song), I am kicking myself for not adding that song to my previous purchase. But there is a next time. And Sammie, your song Neon Moon, sticks in my head, so gloriously sung, and Chase, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, blew my sock right out around the galaxy and back. Lovely band, beautiful songs, such terrific talent, every one of you in the group. E-v-e-r-y-o-n-e! Your music eases my day. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
