Thanks for the video. Looks like they didn't give you a pre-released version that you could test out, that's too bad. I am a television producer in Canada and I shoot and edit as well. I use the pocket 2 all the time. My RUclips channel has several videos on the pocket cams so I will most likely purchase the new Pocket 3. I wish DJI would broaden their pre-release users. I find it funny when they send the new pocket camera to a large RUclips channel, they will do a short video then never use that camera again. While some of us will use the Pocket camera quite often. Anyways thanks for the video, quality looks great.
You seriously need to hit the weight room if you think 67 grams is going to make a difference in "pocketability." Have you seen the leaks? The dimensions of the Pocket 3 are only slightly larger. There should still be enough space inside your skinny jean's pockets to fit it.
Haha, it's not exactly "heavyweight" I agree but it's still 50% heavier and that's quite a change from the past 2 models. It's an important point for a lot of people, the appeal of a device like this is it being lightweight, we shall see! Thanks for tie comment!
@@Droning-ON 179 grams isn't lightweight? Look. There is a huge demand for these action cameras to have the larger 1" sensor because it improves the quality of the video and performance in low light. Insta360 did it with their 1" module in the R and RS cameras and those turned out to be bigger and more expensive. That comes with the territory. I, for one, am very happy that DJI listened to their fanbase and came out with a 1" sensor for the Pocket and, based on the leaks, I am also quite pleased with how small it is, given that it has a 1" sensor. I am not in the market for another camera but, if I was, this would definitely be a serious contender. The only people I know who would have a problem with the weight of this camera would be people who mount cameras on drones but, camera drones already have gimbals for their cameras and FPV drones already have digital systems like the O3 by DJI and don't need to mount a 600 fucking dollar camera on an FPV that could crash and wreck both. Seriously! The O3 is good enough. If you want it to lose weight, find a way to get rid of that screen and control it remotely like a naked GoPro.
The old 1/1.7 sensor is a crop factor of 4.5. F/1.8 x 4.5 = 8.1. The 1 inch sensor is a 2.7 crop. F/2 x 2.7 = 5.4. So even at F/2 that's a massive improvement over the Pocket 2. Always remember, that F stops depend on the sensor size / crop factor.

I was influenced by you to buy Osmo Pocket in 2018.....but it was damaged while I was on vacation in Krabi, Thailand. Did not buy Pocket 2 but may buy Pocket 3 if price is reasonable
It's very likely to be $499, for the upgraded sensor I think it's more than a great price, a Sony zv1f with lower specs it's $499 too, so this will just kill Sony's 1 inch line up for video

I would have to disagree with your point on the D-Log function 😆 You can say I'm a half-consumer/half-prosumer. I'm using a Pocket 2 now on D-cine mode, which after a bit of colour grading, produced very good quality footage. I would prefer it to be fully automatic, but the auto modes on Pocket 2 do not produce a good picture, so I had to resort to D-cine and manual video editing. My pocket 2 will last me a few more years, so I will wait for the initial user reviews/tips and for DJI to resolve any bugs.
I know the Pockets are for mainly video but for the price i expect better resolution stills than 8megapixels.... P1 :12MP P2:64MP and P3: 8MP ? Downgrading? It has 1inch sensor really? what a marketing! I keep my P1. Iphone + P1 are my best portable combo right now.

If the specs about the pixels are right, (Pocket1: 4000x3000 pixel and 1/2.3" sensor) (Pocket 2: 9216x6912 pixel and 1/1.7" sensor) and (Pocket 3: 9216x6912pixel and 1" sensor) the area of the single pixel in squared micron should be Pocket1: 2,36 square micron Pocket2: 0,68 square micron and Pocket3 1,82 square micron... So may be in low light my old Pocket1 should not behave so bad (read better) in comparison of the Pocket2 and also of the Pocket3...or am i missing something? Greetings from Italy.
The lightweight camera with small footprint, clear and stable video, the nice low light shooting blinded me for some time - but then I realised that as a family vacation shooter this camera is USELESS if it does not offer OPTION of infinite focus. If I cannot get my subject and the surroundings ALL in focus, then that defeats the whole concept of vacation shooting - the bokeh effect (background blurring) is a massive hindrance than of benefit. Maybe if you are showcasing a product or person. Or trying cinematic storytelling - you may find it useful. But for millions of simple vacationers like me - who just desired crisp super stable video while travelling, taking in all of the surroundings - this lack of universal focus is a deal breaker. Lucky I stopped just short of making payment for it.
That's not quite true really, for film making you always want subject focus, infinite focus is reserved for action cameras and fast paced sport, but for holiday videos and that professional touch, this is definitely a perfect match, you've just got to use it properly and ensure that what you're capturing is in focus.
I'm thrilled for this, can't wait. I use the Pocket 2 for all my channel videos, but it CAN be a little finicky w the phone app. With the larger screen, I won't need the app at all. Let's gggooooo!!

Well, I'm still on the Pocket 1. Heck I even still have the OM2 and Action. Both have only just been replaced by the OM6 and Action4. So a Pocket3 may be in the books for me. My phone is the Samsung S20+, a very decent video shooter. But I don't see myself upgrading that for a while, at least till a 24 or 25. My gripe is Samsung dumping expandable storage via a microSD port. I only recently got into colour grading, especially my pictures shot with a Canon R7. It's something I'm self teaching, and I think it could be fun. I am in no way a professional anything, other than a cook.
my friend bought pocket 1 to our tour. at first i dont like it because u can barely see the footages on the screen. but after post processing, it has better result than iphone 13. i have high expection on this one since its 2 version up
DJI have completly lost the track on pricing. a miniature upgrade to 4K 120 don't worth double the price of Pocket 2. Some gonna argue.. yes but 2 inch screen and bigger battery NOPE... you get a bigger battery to compensate the requirment for the bigger screen and HOPE to keep 30 minutes of recording at best. That's not an upgrade...That's a simple compensation to smoke and blur the autonomie you had lose if the same P2 battery. 1 inch sensor is a gimick.....thats not a TRUE 1 inch. All company do the same trick. So AT BEST.... the P3 give you....4K 120 and face tracking 6.0 thats are 2 simple software update. From 349$ for P2 to now the double price for the P3 for 2 softwarre update ?? After 3 years ?? Still no changeable battery. Oh and don't forget the minimum 25-50$ plus tax you need for the magnet ND filter and FOV filter. A Sony ZV-1 (first gen) is at the same price and you get all included with the possibility for ANY external microphone and bonus an already good one integrated. A BIGGER Screen, wifi and bluethoot all included. A BETTER color science rrecognized since many years. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL P3 is supposed to be maximum 399$ or 450-500$ with combo. DJI need to be taken back on the ground and realistic on their pricing.

It's normal for a smaller sensor to have a wider aperture. Harder for a bigger sensor to reach lower than let's say F2. Doesn't mean it will worst ilnlow light because bigger sensor means more light per pixel if the pixel count doesn't increase
I intend to replace my Pocket one with the pocket two when everyone is suffering FOMO… Yesterday they leaked the prices. The full package (with mic and handle-extension and wide angle lens) could be $660. High enough.

Im flying the DJI Mvic 3 and the Air 3. I really enjoyed your drone content and look forward to any new videos you will be bringing out in the future. DJI Pocket 2 Is great vlogging tool. Espetially to first timers. Very good handling and options. DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is awaited and apprrciated. ISO 50 will be of a good use on very bright days. It would be better to go to 25.
The hop from ISO 100 to anything lower is barely noticible to be honest, but yes the P2 is great, let's hope that the P3 has been worth the wait! Thanks for the comment!
Notice that DJI is not providing the number of megapixels its sensor have. Not with the Action 4 and now the Pocket 3. The reduced f-stop may be related to the focal length requirement to match the lens to the new sensor.
Very true, that's odd as DJI are normally shouting about this, as if it's a competition, so you're right that they've kept it quiet fron marketing materials that have leaked. Thanks for the comment!
I have the pocket 2 and really wanted the pocket 3 but like you said the phones these days are so good it just seems a big layout its not cheap. Ill watch the reviews and see if that changes my mind lol honest reviews though 😂 good to see you back. 😁👌👍 🇬🇧
Thanks dude for the comment! Yeah phones may not have a gimbal do the auto movement aspect isn't there, but the EIS is just so good now for stabilising movement that a gimbal would normally soften.

If what we've seen so far is correct, it will be a good little camera but the price will need to be right. If your phone can do everything the Pocket 3 does, and the price of an Action 4 combo is cheaper than the Pocket 3 itself, it's going to be a hard sell. We shall see on Wednesday! 🙂
Great vid - thanks. I have barely used my DSLR/gimbal combo for holidays and promos since I bought the Pocket 2 but always wanted a 'pro' version with a bigger screen and better battery life with no overheating on long takes. Looks like the Pocket 3 could be that version, so I'll be ordering one as soon as possible, regardless of price.

Does it also have digital stabilization ? The stabilization is so good on something like the action 4. Is there really an advantage to having the gimble on it ?
I think f2.0 is highly likely - there seems to have been little trumpeting of lens specs in the leaked materials until now, so that figure was regarded as something not to be mentioned by the marketing people. Stereo recording - well, yes, but now there are only 3 mics, not the 4 that the Pocket 2 has. That configuration made possible some pretty neat stuff. For instance, you could talk to the front or the back or the sides and you would always be "on mic". And when the gimbal head was panned, the audio was processed so that the stereo image from the unmoved handle was rotated to match the picture. Clearly the 3 mic configuration will mean that either the front or the back will be "off mic" - I don't know whether the stereo field rotation feature will still work without that 4th mic. Hmmm. As for the app - well, you need that to provide a phone viewfinder when the Pocket 2 is on the extension rod accessory - and for me, that accessory is absolutely essential to get the best from the Pocket 2. Indeed, I won't be buying the Pocket 3 until that accessory is available. And maybe not then. I'm moving into a new house. I need a new washing machine and heat pump tumble drier. The Pocket 3 with accessories will cost somewhat more than those two appliances together, indeed only a little less than those two plus a fridge! Will viewers of my channel actually notice the difference in end quality? Isn't reasonable quality but great content the necessary recipe for RUclips success? Discuss... Connectivity - I'm puzzled by your comments on that. Surely the Pocket 2 is exactly the same in that respect as every other digital camera these days? You plug it in to your PC and copy across (or access direct in your editor) or you pop the card into your computer. Maybe I'm missing your point. Finally - for anyone still reading - you may have accidentally answered the question that's causing a load of controversy in other videos, in the last two images you included at about 13:41 - and that is, what are the attachments which go on the bottom? And is the wifi etc built into the device or do you have to attach a do-it-all handle again? Based on the early marketing blurb leak, my opinion is that the large handle is a battery handle only (thus addressing the requirements of those who want a removable battery) and the small clip-on is only a tripod adapter. The images you posted seem to show first, the device being used with nothing attached on the bottom, but the lady is using the wireless mic (so, wireless connectivity is built in), and secondly the basic kit shown in the next image has the small base connector included, but no mic, so that little thing is indeed just the tripod adapter. Well, we shall very shortly see... Thanks for this very informative video, which overall is perhaps the best summary of the leaks that I've seen.

Concerning the connectivity issue, as I explained I like to shoot with my phone and immediately via cloud (Google Drive) I can upload my footage for download. No cables, it's almost immediate, whereas with the pocket I'd have to pull out the card, cable it etc, I guess it's not a major hassle but I just prefer the workflow via the phone, or even editing directly on the phone, but if I used the Pocket then to edit on my phone I have to first wait for the footage to download from the pocket, which takes time. Just many factors which make it frustrating. But yes the cost is the key issue, that's excessive if it'll be over $1000 with all accessories, let's hope not!! Thanks again buddy!
@@Droning-ON Ah, I can see that you are coming at it from a different direction than me. This aspect of individuality is so important. Sometimes people claim that a particular camera is 'the best', but that very much depends on first defining what the task is - and everyone's tasks are different!
@@Ozpeter absolutely, we all have very unique use cases for the equipment that we have and use, the Pocket 3 will be for many, it's form-factor will definitely appeal, and for others it might not work :)
I've had the Feiyutech Pocket 3 for a month now and am very happy with it. The detachable wireless magnetic camera is fantastic for getting new dynamic angles. DJI missed a trick by not incorporating that in their Pocket 3.

I think I'm just like you, based on what we've seen on the spec. the motivation to upgrade from Pocket 2 to Pocket 3 isn't strong enough. Now a days if I want to get portrait recording I'll use my mobile phone. The quality is pretty good.

It does have night mode. The unboxing video that a DJI dealer rashly uploaded does show that option in the menus.

Well, I'm still on the Pocket 1. Heck I even still have the OM2 and Action. Both have only just been replaced by the OM6 and Action4. So a Pocket3 may be in the books for me. My phone is the Samsung S20+, a very decent video shooter. But I don't see myself upgrading that for a while, at least till a 24 or 25. My gripe is Samsung dumping expandable storage via a microSD port.
I only recently got into colour grading, especially my pictures shot with a Canon R7. It's something I'm self teaching, and I think it could be fun. I am in no way a professional anything, other than a cook.

my friend bought pocket 1 to our tour. at first i dont like it because u can barely see the footages on the screen. but after post processing, it has better result than iphone 13. i have high expection on this one since its 2 version up

DJI have completly lost the track on pricing.
a miniature upgrade to 4K 120 don't worth double the price of Pocket 2.
Some gonna argue.. yes but 2 inch screen and bigger battery
NOPE... you get a bigger battery to compensate the requirment for the bigger screen and HOPE to keep 30 minutes of recording at best. That's not an upgrade...That's a simple compensation to smoke and blur the autonomie you had lose if the same P2 battery.
1 inch sensor is a gimick.....thats not a TRUE 1 inch. All company do the same trick.
So AT BEST.... the P3 give you....4K 120 and face tracking 6.0 thats are 2 simple software update.
From 349$ for P2 to now the double price for the P3 for 2 softwarre update ?? After 3 years ??
Still no changeable battery.
Oh and don't forget the minimum 25-50$ plus tax you need for the magnet ND filter and FOV filter.
A Sony ZV-1 (first gen) is at the same price and you get all included with the possibility for ANY external microphone and bonus an already good one integrated.
A BIGGER Screen, wifi and bluethoot all included.
A BETTER color science rrecognized since many years.

It's normal for a smaller sensor to have a wider aperture. Harder for a bigger sensor to reach lower than let's say F2. Doesn't mean it will worst ilnlow light because bigger sensor means more light per pixel if the pixel count doesn't increase

@@Droning-ON I used to film mainly on my Nikon D800 and assorted lenses but as I got older I bought the GoPro Hero 7 for day to day stuff but as tech got better I started using my iPhone and bought the OM4 which Im still using but still wondering whether to go for the Pocket 3. Im flying the DJI Mvic 3 and the Air 3. I really enjoyed your drone content and look forward to any new videos you will be bringing out in the future. DJI Pocket 2 Is great vlogging tool. Espetially to first timers. Very good handling and options.
DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is awaited and apprrciated. ISO 50 will be of a good use on very bright days. It would be better to go to 25.
The hop from ISO 100 to anything lower is barely noticible to be honest, but yes the P2 is great, let's hope that the P3 has been worth the wait! Thanks for the comment!

Notice that DJI is not providing the number of megapixels its sensor have. Not with the Action 4 and now the Pocket 3. The reduced f-stop may be related to the focal length requirement to match the lens to the new sensor.
Very true, that's odd as DJI are normally shouting about this, as if it's a competition, so you're right that they've kept it quiet fron marketing materials that have leaked. Thanks for the comment!

I have the pocket 2 and really wanted the pocket 3 but like you said the phones these days are so good it just seems a big layout its not cheap. Ill watch the reviews and see if that changes my mind lol honest reviews though 😂 good to see you back. 😁👌👍 🇬🇧
Thanks dude for the comment! Yeah phones may not have a gimbal do the auto movement aspect isn't there, but the EIS is just so good now for stabilising movement that a gimbal would normally soften.

If what we've seen so far is correct, it will be a good little camera but the price will need to be right. If your phone can do everything the Pocket 3 does, and the price of an Action 4 combo is cheaper than the Pocket 3 itself, it's going to be a hard sell. We shall see on Wednesday! 🙂

I have barely used my DSLR/gimbal combo for holidays and promos since I bought the Pocket 2 but always wanted a 'pro' version with a bigger screen and better battery life with no overheating on long takes. Looks like the Pocket 3 could be that version, so I'll be ordering one as soon as possible, regardless of price.

Does it also have digital stabilization ? The stabilization is so good on something like the action 4. Is there really an advantage to having the gimble on it ?
Thanks for the comment! Digital stabilisation (EIS) isn't needed on a mechanical gimbal device where all three axis are mechanical.
I think f2.0 is highly likely - there seems to have been little trumpeting of lens specs in the leaked materials until now, so that figure was regarded as something not to be mentioned by the marketing people.
Stereo recording - well, yes, but now there are only 3 mics, not the 4 that the Pocket 2 has. That configuration made possible some pretty neat stuff. For instance, you could talk to the front or the back or the sides and you would always be "on mic". And when the gimbal head was panned, the audio was processed so that the stereo image from the unmoved handle was rotated to match the picture. Clearly the 3 mic configuration will mean that either the front or the back will be "off mic" - I don't know whether the stereo field rotation feature will still work without that 4th mic. Hmmm.
As for the app - well, you need that to provide a phone viewfinder when the Pocket 2 is on the extension rod accessory - and for me, that accessory is absolutely essential to get the best from the Pocket 2. Indeed, I won't be buying the Pocket 3 until that accessory is available. And maybe not then. I'm moving into a new house. I need a new washing machine and heat pump tumble drier. The Pocket 3 with accessories will cost somewhat more than those two appliances together, indeed only a little less than those two plus a fridge! Will viewers of my channel actually notice the difference in end quality? Isn't reasonable quality but great content the necessary recipe for RUclips success? Discuss...
Connectivity - I'm puzzled by your comments on that. Surely the Pocket 2 is exactly the same in that respect as every other digital camera these days? You plug it in to your PC and copy across (or access direct in your editor) or you pop the card into your computer. Maybe I'm missing your point.
Finally - for anyone still reading - you may have accidentally answered the question that's causing a load of controversy in other videos, in the last two images you included at about 13:41 - and that is, what are the attachments which go on the bottom? And is the wifi etc built into the device or do you have to attach a do-it-all handle again? Based on the early marketing blurb leak, my opinion is that the large handle is a battery handle only (thus addressing the requirements of those who want a removable battery) and the small clip-on is only a tripod adapter. The images you posted seem to show first, the device being used with nothing attached on the bottom, but the lady is using the wireless mic (so, wireless connectivity is built in), and secondly the basic kit shown in the next image has the small base connector included, but no mic, so that little thing is indeed just the tripod adapter. Well, we shall very shortly see...

Concerning the connectivity issue, as I explained I like to shoot with my phone and immediately via cloud (Google Drive) I can upload my footage for download. No cables, it's almost immediate, whereas with the pocket I'd have to pull out the card, cable it etc, I guess it's not a major hassle but I just prefer the workflow via the phone, or even editing directly on the phone, but if I used the Pocket then to edit on my phone I have to first wait for the footage to download from the pocket, which takes time. Just many factors which make it frustrating.
But yes the cost is the key issue, that's excessive if it'll be over $1000 with all accessories, let's hope not!!

@@Droning-ON Ah, I can see that you are coming at it from a different direction than me. This aspect of individuality is so important. Sometimes people claim that a particular camera is 'the best', but that very much depends on first defining what the task is - and everyone's tasks are different!
@@Ozpeter absolutely, we all have very unique use cases for the equipment that we have and use, the Pocket 3 will be for many, it's form-factor will definitely appeal, and for others it might not work :)
I've had the Feiyutech Pocket 3 for a month now and am very happy with it.
The detachable wireless magnetic camera is fantastic for getting new dynamic angles.
DJI missed a trick by not incorporating that in their Pocket 3.

I think I'm just like you, based on what we've seen on the spec. the motivation to upgrade from Pocket 2 to Pocket 3 isn't strong enough. Now a days if I want to get portrait recording I'll use my mobile phone. The quality is pretty good.
